Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
MisterBrow replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Does the management of places sit around and think: Hmmm, what's something small but positive that makes our park just a little bit more special? The free soda and not having to lug around the cups? Great idea. Let's get rid of that. We have like the best sky ride. Good thinking. Shut it down. We're on a roll. We have arguably the best wooden coaster. One train! Last year was my first trip to LC and I thought it was just great. Can't see a one pass in my near future. -

And now only diamond and platinum season pass holders get the soda. Boo. -
TR: Liam's first US visit (SFA, page 4!)
MisterBrow replied to Liampie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good report. Great pictures. Honest, accurate, fair review. Bacon ranch fries. They count as a snack on the dining plan and give you a day's worth of calories. That picture is indeed SFA in a nutshell. -

Screamscape had this picture of a "rider envelop test frame" and theorized that is why the coaster didn't open this year. I can guess and theorize and assume but you all know this stuff so, educate me please. -
https://www.nps.gov/maps/full.html?mapId=7ad17cc9-b808-4ff8-a2f9-a99909164466 Nothing on the Historic Registry. What would be its designation? I am working on another project that has me talking to the historic society in Anne Arundel County. I'll try to remember to ask them if they know. Did the Dippin Dots guy know the Lazy River was being upgraded?

I do not see anything listed where the house is. It is not on an historic registry. I don't see anything about the Six Flags land being protected.

We bounced in to redeem our gold pass upgrades on Saturday. The oldest met up with friends and their family. I wanted to see how the younger daughter reacted to FF. My knee/leg is still mending. I rode the teacups, but it was great to hear the sounds of a lift hill again. Overall it was pretty crowded by nightfall. With the warmer weather the yellow jackets were in full effect and threat of getting stung was scarier than anything else. + Redeeming the passes was quick and easy. It was like the early season WO crew. - I wanted to clothesline those screaming/running/pushing when they encountered bugs or a costumed character I hope the permit filed earlier in rumor season to pour piers in the arena were to move the stage closer. I couldn't see any concrete work done. Red fountain water was a nice touch Mostly the same decorations around as last year. Stunt show remains underrated. Tried ordering the fruit salad instead of fries, they were out. Guy in front of me was Asian and there were language issues. He had scanned his 2018 pass to get in and then tried to use his 2017 card with dining which got kicked out by the register. Painful. Guy in front of him ordered the Lasso Burger and was just in awe how sad it was. My burger literally had lettuce. Singular. Moving Awakening into the arena is an awesome idea. 3,000 people as opposed to cramming a couple hundred around the little stage behind Chop Stix is a no brainer. However, it was too far away and the sound quality was too poor to decipher the story. VIP seating just compounds a bad situation At one point I counted 50 staff / security in the arena. These three perched up over the sound booth made me think six flags actually had some forethought here.

Thanks Coasterlover. The info on and pictures of the old land is rather rare. If they really wanted to charge for a FF VIP thing it would be midnight flashlight tour around the old house followed by a spin on WO, ya know, to tempt the spirits. Could you imagine doing a lap around the house and then getting stuck on the ride?

Bonkers. But, that is what dreams are for. New trains for ME will appease the dry park people. I think the reaction here to the Lazy River update of disappointment followed by quick admittance that it probably makes sense is good sign. If they continue to make sound logical choices it will be hard to complain.

Now if we could combine that with an extra 10 seconds to collect and hold my fluffy fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo... we have solved a first world problem. -
Favorite themed area?

It does capture the grittiness and despair of the dystopian Gotham. Diagon Alley. I assume Star Wars Land will best it though. -
Who ever puked during or because of a ride?
MisterBrow replied to ItsMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Never puked on a ride. My most vivid memory is of a little kid at Hershey getting off a ride and sticking his head full into one of the covered garbage cans and booting. A hair taller and I think he would have had his shoulders in the can. Closest was this thing at an end of school year party we used to have in my neighborhood. It was hot out. I was running around as I was in charge of the festivities. Had a big Gatorade water bottle filled with rum and coke. https://agoodtimeamusements.com/rent-mechanical-inflatable-rides/bunny-buckets -
How would you not know a door is a door? Confused by that statement. door dôr noun - a hinged, sliding, or revolving barrier at the entrance to a building, room, or vehicle, or in the framework of a cupboard. The opening I am supposed to move through to continue the attraction: door. vs. The opening that the haunt is supposed to pop out of: a hinged, sliding, or revolving barrier at the entrance to a building, room, or vehicle, or in the framework of a cupboard.

Their haunts are terribly ran. They have great sets and props but they simply send too many people through at once and the haunts just get in your face - that is not scary. They do not try to pop out, at least they have never have when I went through. They just got in my face and shook their home made looking rattle. Same goes for Six Flags Great Adventure. I like when they get so far in your face (and they weren't even in position) so after they go BOO you don't know if the door is the door or where they were supposed to pop out from is the door. Then I have to ask if I should go left or right and stand there until they break character.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
MisterBrow replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a mean OCD streak , doesn't brother me because it means faster, hang that track off the edge if need be. If they centered it in the back of my head I'd be thinking this track isn't in the right center. I have to admit when I saw the drop picture I involuntarily made a noise that girls made like 5 years ago when they saw Justin Bieber. -
So, after we finished our SFGE, SFNE, LC, Quassy, SFGAd loop back in June I dislocated (previous dislocation 27 years before) my kneecap, fracturing it, and putting a few fractures in my femur. We're just going to say baseball injury. Before the fractures were diagnosed I was figuring I would be back in action by the Halloween festivities. With a 4-6 month heal time on the leg fractures Holiday rides aren't going to happen making opening day 2018 the goal. Anybody out there had a nasty knee or leg injury? How long before you were riding comfortably again?

Where Are You Going in 2018?
MisterBrow replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Did my homework. Listened in class. Worked 40 hour weeks cleaning toilets starting at age 16. Worked the lowest level job in my field and a second one at the mall right out of college, sold most of my comic books, and paid off the debt without complaint by 23. Another degree later, solid resume of experience... yup, at 43 I can take my family and ride whatever roller coasters I damn well please. If I can't get to the park I can run with scissors with a lollipop in my mouth without a helmet and tilt my chair way far back. -
Still a relative newbie to hobby at this level and so having trouble still. I really count: Rougarou Cobra's Curse Mako Joker at Great Adventure because I watched those things go from rumor to built online. All of the other stuff over the years I might have been on and not known it was the first year. My best credit is Universal Orlando 1st year. Free tickets to return and wait in ride breakdown lines again. Those rides had some Jay Bangs.

So the wife says, "I know it's far but we have been invited to a BarMitzvah of my friend from college's kid in Clevela..." "YES. We will go! And to the Point as well." Thinking Hershey, Knoebels, Dorney, Great Adventure circuit. KD and BGW. -

Not only does Hunter Mt. run their lift in the summer but also during the drunk country and hippy music festivals without any issues.
