  1. ...you know what, nevermind. So looking forward to riding ROAR in the cold again. There are many things that could be done and they all seem so simple to fix. That's where the love/hate comes from. It's never going to look like Busch Gardens and I don't think if they spent a ton of money on landscaping and blocking backstage views it would ever counter the park's reputation. I do have to admit that the antique car ride is one of the most WTF worst. However, they do have the Looney Tunes Prop House... it can get hot and smelly but where else can you load an air cannon with ball pit balls and destroy family members and stranger's kids? Seriously if you haven't been, its fun like they used to let us have when you could ride a bike without pads and a helmet on the main streets.
  2. I am staying optimistic that they can actually serve the food to the buffet at a reasonable rate.
  3. Email today: "Season Pass Holder Celebration Day June 11 On June 11, we're inviting our Pass Holders to a special day at the park! Join us for Pass Holder Celebration Day, featuring exclusive offers for you AND a friend, including private ride time, free admission, a special all-you-can-eat picnic offer, and exclusive in-park discounts. For this unique event, arrive one hour before park opening to enjoy exclusive ride time on WONDER WOMAN Lasso of Truth, SUPERMAN: Ride of Steel, and THE JOKER's Jinx. You'll also get to bring one friend to the park with you for free to share in the fun (if not already used May 30-June 10). Plus, Season Dining Pass Holders can use your dining plan and enjoy a private all-you-can-eat buffet with the Looney Tunes characters in our picnic grove and dine with your friend for a discounted fee. Look for the Season Pass Celebration logo around the park to get the best discounts of the season in retail, games, and foods." So assuring people that WWLoT in 2 1/2 weeks, early entry with Gotham open, and character lunch with free food. Disney food:better, Disney Characters:better, even with an upcharge: six flags win! When does that happen? Best pitch I have heard since the BaySox offered me getting to take batting practice if I bought the minimum season ticket package.
  4. With the original restored helix at the end I can only imagine what people 100 years thought. WO is a legit coaster today. I give in and brace my hands on the bar going into finale and brakes which adds a couple of rerides. WO gives a great counterbalance to Superman.
  5. So, has anybody managed to get on the VR Mind Eraser?
  6. I was just hitting the tall coasters and moving on.
  7. Accounting for travel time, money, and sleep what would be the best three day trip? Count the first park as the starting point, not necessarily your home park. Score scale: ?/10 Coasters, ?/10 Cost, ?/10 travel weariness, ?/10 epicness I will throw out Carowinds 6 hour drive to Kings Dominion then sleep, 4 hours drive to SF GrA, sleep then 3 1/2 hours fly Philly to Cleveland to CP, sleep then 5 1/2 hours fly to SFMM. All of the 400', all of the 300', and 9/12 of the coasters at or above 230'. Three days at CP would score high for me, because I live so far away. Probably not epic if you live there.
  8. This is the most American post that I have ever read. Thanks. I can see an elliptical machine from where I type, but here I sit with a Flying Dog Horny Dog. We might get hand me down coasters but we don't get hand me down beer. . It's a bad costume. Good cartoon character. Totally get a picture for the first time in forever. Vertical construction on WWloT. Thanks for the photo!
  9. Dutch Wonderland is a third the size and has a sky ride. The lack of a rest room back by Batman is puzzling. At least there are two smoking stations.
  10. Batwing has a 30 minute wait when there's five people in line. Even ride OPs are worn out from the uninspiring walk back there. Build a path from Coyote Creek. Going through Whisltestop with the WWloT construction detour is more exercise than I care to do. It should be quicker but it isn't. Can I get a sky ride? Can I a get a SKY RIDE! From between the fountain and the water slides to the back between WWloT and Superman. Make em clear and call them WW invisible jets. Talk about cheap low thrill upgrade. You could tell the kids about the struggle.
  11. Sportsdude has juice. One post = Vertical construction.
  12. Congratulations! I'm noticing the place is open until 2AM on Fridays...and I'll be at Great Adventure on a Friday. They say select rides open on Fridays after 10PM--do you know if the coaster is one of them? I hear good things about those SBF Visa spinners. We met the friends we stayed with when we went to CP when they came east. Our kids had fun there. If you are with a group of any age I think there is fun to be had.
  13. See this is just it. Superman to the bottom of the stairs is like a 3-4 train wait. Maybe not even that long. Wild One into only three of those switchbacks? 10 minutes or less. That's a walk on to someone that is used to waiting 30-60 minutes for their parks more popular rides. If you can get into a stall, maybe not your favorite slot, on the next train I say walk on. Last 3rd of July Rebel Yell at KD was walk on. On the 4th Griffon was walk on. Meaning I rerode until my cardio gave out because of riding and sprinting back, riding and then jogging, then riding and fast walking, then riding and then one... more... one ..more... Reriding then... "Go on without Daddy, I'll skip this one."
  14. We had walk-ons but we were in at 10:15 and out at 1:30.
  15. Great, I've been on the Wheaton one. Now I have to go to Bethesda for the credit. I hear they are putting VR in the Vienna Fairfax-GMU station.
  16. Not the best picture which is why I didn't post it and I got tired of waiting to get both trains in the shot. I really wanted to snap a picture at the top of the hill but phones out on rides drives me crazy. Parks put out high quality POVs or give permission for it, no need for somebody to lose their phone and hit someone with it. Pictures with ride ops??? I did see more phones out on rides but didn't see any pictures with ride ops. I could imagine it happening. They tell the workers to have fun with the riders and that would be what you are telling a younger worker. An older folk like me would be uneasy because of the seriousness of the job. We had a trainee on VooDoo that I hope doesn't stay on. Thankfully her trainer caught the unlatched belt before took off. She was also unaware of what she was being told about scanning before launch. I have tried to high five the operator on WO twice this season leaving the station but have received a "can't do it head shake." We were held up at the brakes Saturday on that ride while a nose bleed was cleaned up in the other train. Handled well. The WO crew seems to be the A team. The girl that has been running the flyers is pretty good too. I'm practicing for Knoebels.
  17. WWLOT is showing some progress. Mid-May? Hmmmmmmm. Had a glitch with my pass parking and some dining plan issues. Hit guest services inside the park, forget trying to use the window and speaker outside. There were phone calls and emails, frustrating but problem solved. Make purchases online, they can find records easier. Food service still running slow. Saw a women melt down because the Gotham food stalls were out of the season beverage cups and lids for cups. On a plus many rides were running multiple trains right at opening anticipation of crowds later in the day because of the sun. WO is indeed announcing, "You have 30 seconds to board." WO now has 12 flags on the peak of the lift hill. That's right, 12 flags, that's like double Six Flags. Many flowers planted with rabbit nets... Look out Disney and Busch Gardens- SF is stepping up the landscaping and theming!
  18. December 1990 Universal Orlando. Opening year with all of the breakdowns. I think we only rode King Kong and Earthquake for the day. Given a free ticket to return. Second day we got on everything but it took the whole day and there were not many rides. Worst line is always the ones with a wait and then a breakdown when you are in the row stall.
  19. Falcon's Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa you pretty much have to look down and on the way up you see zoo animals. I like that one better. Now, if they running KK at the same time... To be honest I have always enjoyed trying to find my car in the parking lot during lifts, maybe not as exciting as Trenton, or wondering where your car went while in Trenton. The view on Top Thrill CP is my favorite, that twisting downward turn with the lakes makes me feel like I am living in Google Earth. Favorite view at SFGAdv is the turn by the lake on NItro.
  20. His FB page says he left SF with people posting goodbyes and best of luck in China... I'm thinking true.
  21. I am 13.3 miles from the gate and GOOGLE says it should take me 24 minutes. I have made under 20 but it has also taken me an hour on Rt. 3/301. If you have a SF pass it makes sense and is doable if you want to get in WIld One at 100 years old. My advice would be enjoy the time at BGW, especially if you get a deal on a two day ticket. Theoretically, when WW gets built you should be able to see the monument in DC which could be a cool thing. But that ain't opening soon.
  22. This is what they said: "Greetings from Dutch Wonderland! Thank you for taking an interest in our park! Merlin's Mayhem will not be ready by opening weekend, but we are aiming to have it open by early June. If you have any other questions, please let me know! Have a great day! Courtney - Guest Relations/Sales Supervisor" I guess the Amish doing a coaster raising is more difficult than a barn. We should start a poll. Merlin open before or after Wonder Woman at Six Flags America.
  23. Both local school districts were off last week and this and so they were open during these two weeks. Saturday you might get early opening week crowds because kids' friends are talking about how they went over break. Sunday night is a school night after a break so families will likely be too tired to be out in force unless it is crazy good weather. I would go Sunday but it should be a marginal difference. The "big rides" should be walk on early. Maybe hit Wild One quick first and second because while it's a good coaster and 100 years and all you will be happier with watching a couple of Superman and Batman trains early and riding those as opposed to waiting for WIld One a bit later in the day.
  24. Maybe they are now thinking that WW should go where JJ is.
