  1. We were in today. We noticed that the Firebird gift shop has been painted and renamed Inferno Gifts and they have added phone / sunglasses zipper bags to the Wild One cars. Two stations running on Batman. There are now some shaved ice stands that claim they will have churros.
  2. We rolled the dice and went in for the Pass Holder preview last night despite the rain around 5:15. Several rerides on WO in the front seat as there were two cars running. Had to be seated opposite of another couple on WW as there were only four of us on the ride. Walked on front row on Superman. That was the only ride that had enough people in the que that required a walk around to reride. We saw that Batman was actually running so we headed down there for a ride. Johnny Rockets, RC, fliers and a walk past FB and into CC and out by 7. - Ride Ops were slow and confused - FB has the nice sign but no other theming and needs more paint for sure - The long anticipated restroom by Superman is currently just a cement pad - Macho Nacho up and running - Two freestyle machines in Tex's Turkey Legs and Dogs (They were giving out free popcorn to guests with memberships) - Penguin was running? - The deep fried food booth is now chicken cheese steaks and fries - No more churros at the booth on main street - They have repainted most of the yellow on curbs, steps... paint on the the red and blue on WO - On ride photo available on the kiddie coaster - JJ was closed and testing - Rope lights added to the WO lift hill
  3. A lot of the wooded areas can't be used or developed due to environmental laws. That's why a Fortnite based VR attraction would be great! Compact and doesn't need much land development, but would be entertaining! Six Flags have already tested VR on coasters, a full VR attraction is next logical step! dude. just give it up. . Fortnite isn't gonna happen. Shhh...the more we talk about it, the longer we draw it out Which happens first? We forget Fortnight or we get that path from the back of CC to Batman.
  4. Let's rename everything in the park for fads! Change the cyclone to the FIDGET SPINNER!!! I notice a Coke Freestyle in Coyote Creek at Tex's favorites. Nice. Although, I don't remember Tex's favorites. Anyone?
  5. I am not close to retiring, but in the window of picking a goal. I've always said my ideal retirement "job" to pick up a couple of bucks, and stay active, would be by doing something at a minor league ballpark. What about theme parks? I was just thinking I could work at like Knoebels and buy something not too expensive with enough room for grandkids. Anybody done this? Doing it? What would be the other parks? (I'm not retiring to Orlando...)
  6. There is nothing Chesapeake about the Chesapeake area. I agree that a different name for Firebird would have made sense. Even if you called it Chessie and claim that the Chessie sea monster ROARs. They print new maps every year so what would you change Chesapeake to along with the rides in that area? I'm thinking you're stuck with Firebird (with a skull mountain) and ROAR. Two pirate ship rides and "Shipwreck Falls" Carousel, tea cups, stunt arena, stunt arena, train, and stage are generic.
  7. O. You're right. I still remember way back when they did the Batman show in there.
  8. The applause for the bathroom was great. Replacing stunt arena roof. I guess they plan to use it and is certainly a clue that they aren't tearing it down. They may have a plan to use it for more than Awakening. Fire bird theming will have greenery. Actually planting trees! "Wish we had more trees." HAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm getting so many of my low expectation wishes. Skull mountain is staying but can't promise the fire effect. They started the Firebird conversion as far back as 2017. Interesting stuff.
  9. We went in Friday at about 4:30, rode everything, ate, and were out at 6:30. RC was closed. ROAR was its usual good cold weather self. Even hopped on ME and managed to not get my bell rung. Creek area looks great but ME was dark. So, a rare season when I actually rode both Apocalypse and ME. Longest lines were for Santa and the bumper cars (ride ops and dumb people, I can never understand people that loop that "seatbelt" around their throats). Good pictures already posted, thanks. It is amazing how a park that struggles so mightily with theming can rock holiday lights. I guess it is easy to light all of the trees when there are only 10 of them. Honestly just the right number of people for me. Not a ghost town but very light. It does seem that they are mainly open to sell brown water and S'mores.
  10. On the food survey I just kept saying Mexican food on the dining plan. Is there really a chance I get a dining plan burrito and a bathroom by superman for when it digests 10 minutes later?
  11. Knowing that this was coming may have been the reason DW added the new coaster. It's kingdom for kids. Makes sense to me.
  12. We went in for our FF fix last night with no threat of rain and not too bad temperatures. We rolled in at 4:45 with a 5PM gate opening. There was only one lane to the parking lot open which was interesting, at first. We figured with the procession starting at 6 we would grab some food and get into the arena for the 615 Awakening. Heritage House seemed surprised they had customers at 5PM. I was asked if I wanted to use my dinner on the dining pass and I responded jokingly by asking if I could use my lunch. Holy Cow that went over their heads and caused a stir. RC and Fliers (The 14 year-old claimed she caught a wind gust and snapped, pretty sure she was messing with me) and a couple of rides on WO and then JJ. WO seemed to be running slower but not as rough. From there we headed into the arena. The ratio of security to guest was outstanding! The volume was waaaaaaaaaaay toooooooo loud. If you buy a $5 glowy thing you got to sit VIP! Seemed like the same show as last year. I saw a large group enter and it took a few seconds to realize that they were the haunters. Yes, it seems like they went into a Halloween Store after Halloween last year and snapped up all of the clearance costumes. I entertained myself trying to get a shot of the moon, VD, and WO from the rare inside the arena view. Unsuccessful. We banged a right and headed Superman for a few rides in the sunset / dark. Just cold enough to sting your cheeks. WW backwards was fun and was the longest line I have waited in in a long time. One cycle.
  13. Like THE DUDE can always just abide and be like F' it lets go bowling. This isn't a place for thin skinned people- but in the end, we're a family that can just abide and be like F' it lets go ride a coaster.
  14. They should go to Home Depot and buy a bunch of the big Halloween yard animatronics.
  15. When we get into splitting hairs over the top 5 or ten it really gets into personal preference about theming and the memories who you have ridden with and how well the ride treats your body. It's like picking greatest albums of all time. (yes, I said albums) On paper (or video) Toro wins hands down over Boulder dash and Phoenix. Toro just doesn't fit my lilliputian body, the restraints are simply like I'm between belt loops and it goes in the SKYRUSH bin for me. Just can't do it more than twice in a day. I love how Boulderdash is all in the trees and along the hills. I love how when you're walking the paths past the ride and it zips by. (If only they could nestle Knoebels a little closer into the hills) It doesn't beat me up half as much as Toro. My first ride was rough, and I was like WTF have these people been talking about? After that I was good to go, but I would could have ridden Boulderdash double the number of times that I have El Bull. Phoenix I can reride until I'm goofy. However, my ten year old after her second ride wanted to check her height. Odd. (She is an inch shy of riding the really big rides) Dad, I really thought I was going to fly out. I KNOW RIGHT!!!! COMET at SFNY is currently the one that seems to fit the whole family best. And, it gets the "What if COMET was at the home home park of SFA instead of WILD ONE" treatment. Which, ultimately who cares? If you get into a conversation with your kids that turns into "I wish Cheetah Hunt was closer" and "When do we get to ride Steel Vengeance?" "When your sister grows an inch." It's just reminiscing about BGT and CP and that's just individual.
  16. I have a friend that was renting her second room as a airbnb. I said the same thing to her. I am looking forward to the trip report with a running $ tally.
  17. So does this mean the NEW coaster for next year can be ME with upgraded trains? I am going to assume they will fix Apocalypse's fire effect for Firebird?
  18. I was rather indifferent with both. I actually moved to MD in 2000 from upstate NY.
  19. Went to the park yesterday. Pretty empty. Multiple rides on WO, SM, JJ, and took my last stand... Cajun was down at the start of the day and was still down when we left. We did see three RC trains next to the barn by the picnic pavilion. JJ was down at the start of the day. SFA does not handle heavy rain like Knoebels. My favorite thing I saw today was workers bailing water out of the condiment boxes in Gotham, gross, who'd a thunk it? Leaving boxes out in the rain. A lot of ripped seats on the Fliers and WO, some less than expertly repaired via duct tape. ROAR is so much better in the cold, and is so much worse in the rain, which is when we called it quits. In at 1020 out at 210. Food service on chicken strips in Gotham was LIGHTNING FAST! Most staff was doing the high five thing. We had a season pass barcode worn and had no issues at the gate, food service, or getting a replacement. Do we pay any mind to the same font on Apocalypse and Python? Speaking of the carousel, no caution tape now, but they look of letting the airbrush guy go wild. Great race from California to MD? At least it shows where all of the trees are.
  20. While it is seasonal I don't expect the offseason to be very long. I'd be shocked if the operating calendar isn't from late March / Early April through New Years. PS: I finally looked at this place on a map and realized that the park is right up the road from Woodbury Commons which is a huge outlet mall right at the intersection of the NYS Thruway (87) and route 6 (where the park will be). People from the city flock to that area in droves, often on coach buses from the Port Authority / Manhattan. I feel like they'll do some type of partnership and (probably) run a f*ck ton more buses from NYC. This place is going to print money. In droves. Indeed. A f*ck ton.
