If you are going to have some footage of Minerbuster, you could use Stompin' Tom Conners' "Tilsonburg". It's a song about a town that is in the middle of the tobacco growing area of Ontario. There is a phrase in it that suits Minebuster...... "How my back aches when I hear that word".

I can't think of any derogatory songs about Canada and I live here. I think most songs about Canada are positive. In fact, most people don't know it, but "American Woman" by one of our more famous rock bands, The Guess Who, was actually an anti-American / pro-Canadian song.

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
RBOrrell replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I never thought of that one! I tend to skip season pass night on years when we get new coasters. When the Italian Job opened the lines were horrendous that night, breakdowns and undertrained staff made for a 2-3 hour line. Opening day is pretty good if you get there right when the gates open, or go on friday nights when the park is dead. ^Shawn I hope you are up for a mad dash to Behemoth on opening day! (p.s I have to live up to my Geography degree somehow and maps are strictly Monday-Friday, don't make me change your address point to somewhere in the arctic!) Try this..... Take a map of Ontario and rotate it 90 degrees so that west is at the top (ie. Windsor/Detroit should be at the top). Now look at the map and you should see that the southern Ontario land-mass now looks like an elephant. Now find the city of Owen Sound on the shores of Georgian Bay at the base of the Bruce Peninsula (the elephant's tale). Proof positive that Owen Sound is an elephant's a$$hole. My wife is from that area, she hates this experiment. -
I'll give you some advice if you are coming here. Make sure you have proper ID to cross the border (both ways). Check with both the Canadian and US government web sites as to the requirements. You don't want to get the border and find that they will not let you cross. There is a lot of pressure on Canadian Customs and Immigration from the US Government to keep out undesireables. It's a double edge sword, most of the people crossing those borders are US citizens.

I used to hang out with a guy that would buy concert t-shirts (this is about 25 years ago). He had a rule that he would not wear a concert t-shirt to another concert unless it was to see the same band. He thought it was rude to wear (for example) a Styx t-shirt to a KISS concert. He had no problem wearing a Styx shirt at a Styx concert though. I enjoy making fun of the people that go to the Toronto Champ Car race earing t-shirts with either NASCAR or Formula 1 drivers or teams on them. Why not get a Champ Car shirt?

New Park For Canada

You're probably too young to remeber Bob-Lo Island. It used to get a lot of traffic. I wonder if there is any provincial funds involved here. After all, Daulton is sending us to the polls this year. -

I have family that works there - mid-level management - they are infact building now, it is in the south end (Italian Job area) and they describe it as a coaster on-par with Millenium Force. -
I play - currently about a 18 HC. I play weekly almost. In the Toronto area where I live we have a huge number of courses within a 1 to 2 hour's drive. The "guys" go to Hilton Head Island in the spring for a week to get the game fine-tuned. We play 36 a day for aweek. Played this past Sunday, sunk a chip-in for par on the 18th. The best thing about golf though, is the Golf Cart Girls. http://www.beercartgirl.com/home.php

As inidcated already. You can go Toronto/Buffalo/Erie/Cleveland/Sandusky. The other route is the counter-clockwise route. Toronto/Detroit/Toledo/Sandusky. I prefer the latter route because you are 3 1/2 - 4 hours to Windsor/Detroit and then only 2 hours or so once you are on I-75 south of of Detroit. Growing up in the London, Ontario area it was just over 4 hours to get to the Point. PS. If going the Detroit route, make sure you take the bridge instead of the tunnel.

Setting: Rented 6 bedroom house, Orlando Florida Who: myself and 6 other middle-age male Canadian golfers Purpose: annual spring golf trip to warmer climes Problem: Where do we go to eat tonight? In previous years, our pilgrimage to the sunny south has taken us from Toronto to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This year, we were looking for a change so we booked the trip to Orlando instead. The golfing was great. Unfortunitly, the restaurant selection along Hwy 192 and I4 are fairly limited to chains that for the most part cater to families that are there for the Disney/USF type of trip. It was bad enought that strip joints are pastie bars, but we need some good food. Our first night we went to a place called Houlihans on the suggestion of a cart girl at one of the courses. It was a good place but I think the waiter was overwhelmed by our group. As we were driving along 192 however I saw a restaurant that I remembered reading about here. Carrabba's! The next night, I took a chance and suggested Italian and we went. The place was a hit. I was the hero. Thanks Theme Park Review

My father started HO scale when he was a teenager in the '50s. He still has it and I have started to add on to the collection. Presently it is still in his house. We use Marklin HO 3 rail equipment. Marklin is from Germany. Some of our engines and rolling stock date back to the late '40s.

My son is working there again this year - 3rd year. This time he is assitant manager in the admissions dept. He was at an orientation last week and it was indicated that the Mission Impossible stunt show from last year (in the parking lot) will be back this year. It does not sho it on the web site but that was what he said. -

That won't work either - the USA is making Canadians show passports to enter the US, so we are going to do the same back. No passport, no good beer or poutine for you.

I had ice on my car too after the same storm hit Toronto. I took the wife's blow dryer outside to get the windows nice and warm. Works great. -

I've only been once but I stayed at Bally's. The rates were great and from what I've read, the rooms are some of the largest on the strip. It was very central on the strip as well.
