You know, I only live 4 hours away. I really should come down there and try some real poutine and maybe get some smoked meat and a steamer and wash it all down with a Brador.

They are very different vehicles. One thing to keep in mind is that the Dodge is new in that this is it's first model year. I used to be a strictly Mopar guy. I had a '71 Duster, 81 TC3, 84 Laser, 86 Lebaron GTS and '95 Talon TsI. With the exception of the Duster and Talon, I had a number of problems (especially the TC3 - 3 transmissions). My last Mopar was not really a Mopar at all but a Mitsubishi ('93 Dodge Stealth RT/TT) which I still own. For my daily drivers, I have switched to Mazdas. My first was a '90 MPV. I kept it for 10 years and replaced it with a 2000 MPV. At that point, we decided to lease on 4 year terms our vehicles. So we have had the 200 MPV, 2002 Protege, 2004 Tribute and finally a 2005 Mazda 6. Right now my wife drives the Tribute and I drive the 6. The 6 is an amazing car. The trunk is large enough to hold 4 golf bags (which is important to me) and has a huge amount of passenger space. The V6 has 240 hp and I have the GFX package and it looks really sporty. I have never been a big Honda fan - they are a little over priced in my mind for what you get. I equate them to Sony in that you can't screw up alot buying Sony or Honda - it's a safe buy. But, you pay a little more for that security. My current car

Some bad hockey unis Okay, you and your buddies invent Trivial Pursuit. You get all this money so you buy a major Junior hockey team and you dress them in olive drab. Who thought that the Capt. Highliner logo was a good idea? The terrible Vancouver Canucks in the late 70s - early 80s

Misadventures with Wally: Super Colon Cleanse
RBOrrell replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
Does anyone remember the fake ad that they did on Saturday NIght Live (the original cast) for a new breakfast cereal called "Colon Blow"? It was hilarious. -
You Are Guinness You know beer well, and you'll only drink the best beers in the world. Watered down beers disgust you, as do the people who drink them. When you drink, you tend to become a bit of a know it all - especially about subjects you don't know well. But your friends tolerate your drunken ways, because you introduce them to the best beers around. What's Your Beer Personality? http://www.blogthings.com/whatsyourbeerpersonalityquiz/

Kiefer Sutherland attended St. Andrew's College in the town that I live in (Aurora, Ontario). This college is a military academy type of high school. He got married at it (second marriage). Interestingly, this college has served as the location for a couple of movies. The Disney Channel movie "Cadet Kelly" and "Cheaper by the Dozen II" were filmed there. Both had Hilary Duff. Can you tell I have a "tween" girl in the house. Speaking of famous people..... In October of last year, a new family moved in to the house next to mine. They seemed like a nice couple wioth two dogs and a 2 year old son. We got to know them and they are nice. Fast forward to Boxing Day 2005 (the day after Christmas). I was out shovelling the 6 inches of snow that fell the day before. Shovelling snow is something of a social event in our neighbourhood because you normally don't see as much of the neighbours as during the warmer months. So, from the house with the new neighbours, came out a guy and his son - not the people that live there - obviously someone visiting and there was rental company vehicle in the driveway. He was taking the kid (about 3 years old) for a sled ride and he came by and I said "good morning". He says "good morning" and introduces himself as the brother of the woman who lives in the house. Says his name is Eric McCormack. THE Eric McCormack from "Will and Grace". Now I don't watch the show but he seemed like a nice guy. His son (born in LA) had never seen snow before.

In late December, a group from a local animal rescue centre travelled down to New Orleans to resuce some puppies that have been born since the Hurricane Katrina disaster. They brought back 11 puppies that were slated to be put down. After they have been nursed back to health we have adoped one of these guys. May I introduce Rachel. She is a beagle/terrier mix and loves the climate here in Canada. Of course when we picked her up on Satruday it was 11 degrees Celcius and our snow was all gone. The Official "Olympic Games" Thread

nice! Curling sure is the best event. In fact Curling is the only event that I'll plan to watch. I may watch other evens when bored, but Curling will be the only thing I'll actually go out of my way to watch. Curling ROCKS! The Canadian Mens team is young, except for Russ Howard who has been around for years. He is an old-style curler who's calling of the sweepers is legend. The Canadian Hockey team had a hard time picking players. I think they could have picked enough guys for 2 teams. Sadly, I think the US Hockey team is not going to do too well this time around. I don't particularly care for the figure skating events or the freestyle skiing. Anything that requires judges leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But I like to watch the bobsled/luge/skeleton - reminds me of my youth and the hills we used to sled down every night. Winter Olympics are a lot better than Summer. But that is probably because of our elevations. -

We just returned from a Royal Caribbean cruise of the south Caribbean. The last port of call was Bridgetown, Barbados. After spending the previous days going to beaches and shops, I wanted to do something different. We booked ourselves on the Banks Brewery and Mount Gay Rum Factory tours. After a quick tour of the Banks brewery, it was off to the hospitality hut out front. Thinking we would get samplers, to my surprise they offered as many full bottles of their products that you could carry. They even provided plastic bags to carry it back to the ship. So, I was able to consume a number of Banks Beers. After the beer, we went to the rum plant where you are given rum punch and then samples after the tour. Of course when they charge $8.00 for a bottle of their rum at the retail shop, they can afford to give a lot away. Banks Beer - Bridgetown, Barbados

I have a couple to contribute today Phishy... Last night after dinner I realized that I had some Wee Willy in the fridge. Normally I don't like to say I had a Wee Willy but it's okay. It's a ale based on Scottish recipes. http://www.lakeportbrewing.ca/wee_willy.html Like they say, "Grab your Wee Willy" Tonight after curling I downed two pints of Wellington County's Special Pale Ale. They have it on draft at the club. We also have their Trail Head Lager but I was in the mood for a PA. http://www.wellingtonbrewery.ca/our_beers.php Special Pale Ale Grab your Wee Willy

I don't take many pictures of just "stuff", there is usually a family member in it but here is a picture I took in Niagara Falls in mid-January a couple of years ago. It was so cold (-35 C) the weekend we were down there that the mist off the falls was freezing on contact with anything. The water was still warmer than the air. This was taken from the Hilton overlooking Table Rock. Horseshoe Falls from the Hilton -
I just read an article in the Toronto Star about Theo Fluery. For those that don't know him, he is an ex-NHL player. He is 37 and is playing for Belfast. Early in his career, he was known as a tough guy but a fineese player too. He was short (by NHL standards - 5'8"). He had some problems in the last few years (alcohol mostly) and he could not get in the show. So he has signed with Belfast and in his first game he really wowed them - couple of goals, couple of scraps. It's nice to see him trying to turn things around. He is not sober yet but he says he is trying.

I agree and I take exception to how Moore wandered around the southern Ontario area trying to substantiate his claims. There was one scene where he was walking into people's houses because they left their doors unlocked. I know no one that leaves their doors unlocked. Another part was showing the Toronto "projects". How clean it looked and safe. It was also in broad daylight. I would be scared to death to go there after dark because you would be shot or stabbed. You have to take what he said with a huge grain of salt.

I think he did. I am not sure. The team used to live pretty near to me, about half a mile away, me and my friends used to go to their house and get freebies and autographs. Aparrently, Canadian matches are very bloody. So my mums friend said. She was in Canada and they seen one and they said it was very bloody. Our ones are nothing compaired to the ones in the States. Although I have never seen one in the states, I am going by her opinion. The NHL has changed the rules this year after a lost season due to a lock-out/labour dispute. Unfortunitly, the rule changes are (in my opinion), meant to make the game more pleasing to the US market (ie. more scoring, more penalties, shoot-outs, etc.). This is what happens when you let a short non-hockey guy run the the league from a New York City office. The grass-root games here in Canada is where you really see hockey as it was meant to be. The junior leagues are more rough and tumble and there is the odd blood-letting. If you want to see rough hockey, go rent the movie "Slap Shot". It is from the '70's but stars Paul Newman. Slap Shot II is awful, don't rent it.

Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends.
RBOrrell replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
I spent Thanksgiving weekend like this. Friday night was the first curling game of the season. Golfing on Saturday (it was 4 degrees when I started but warmed up to a nice 14). Sunday was spent travelling to family. Monday was turkey, ham, turnip, potato (two ways), corn, green beans, gravy, pumpkin and apple pies. Had a few beers too. Good day, eh.
