  1. I actually liked X-Flight back in the day at Geagua Lake Park, but probably the best Vekoma I've been on is the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at WDW Hollywood Studios
  2. BGW would be mine. It's great to see the beautiful park from different angles and get a nice break in.
  3. After finally getting on Skyrush this year I must say I didn't personally have a bad time with their restraints, but I completely understand anyone who does. They are tight, but with the ride doing what it does it at least keeps people from flying out. So for me they weren't really comfortable but I've experienced worse restraints.
  4. Loch Ness Monster, not just my favorite Arrow, but one of my favorite coasters in general. (yay nostalgia)
  5. Initially I thought one of the smaller Arrows at Cedar Point, but I had forgotten my family went to Marine land fairly often when growing up, so my first Arrow and first large steel coaster were both Dragon Mountain (I didn't go on it the first year I was tall enough though, I wasn't scared of the coaster but I was afraid of the dark queue line cave.
  6. I saw this earlier today also. I have problems visualizing where they actually have room for a whole new country themed land, but I've been surprised before. I'm curious to see if anything comes out of this.
  7. Out of the ones I've ridden Drachen Fire is probably at the top, although Double Loop (used to be at Geagua Lake) was a piece of garbage in my opinion also. There are quite a few Arrows I enjoy too though, so I'm not one to just trash them just because everyone else does.
  8. I can't contribute to how it ran before this year but it seemed really fast to me. When I was there a few weeks ago I couldn't quit laughing about how crazy the ride was when sitting on the brake run.
  9. I had the exact opposite experience. Each time I've ridden Steel Dragon I get minimal spinning, I rode Laff Trak (two of us in the front, no-one in the back). Must have just been we hit the perfect weight distribution and car for that moment.
  10. My guess would be they aren't doing as much for Mind Eraser because it's nowhere near as unique. Viper has historical significance as far as Arrow loopers go, Mind Eraser on the other hand is a Vekoma SLC.
  11. I struggle to remember if Ravine Flyer has always been a bit slower in the second half (I agree it is) but until this year I had only ridden in with full trains, so I'm sure that effects the end of the ride. The first half is great thought if they could have kept that intensity throughout it would be a near perfect coaster for me.
  12. Laff Trakk (spun like crazy for us, so much more fun than expected)
  13. Ravine Flyer II, went to Waldameer on my lunch break this past Friday for a quick ride then went back home to work.
  14. I saw posts in the Hershey FB group this weekend that stated that while they were only running one train in the mornings, the 2nd train had made it into operations halfway through each day. I hope that's the case. I was there on Saturday from park opening until 8:30 that night and only saw launches from the right side (as you sit on the train) of the station. The wait times I saw were never less than 60 minutes, it was never a walk on. My daughter and I watched closely on the app as its her favorite ride in the park. They were loading from both left and right side (at least around 2) on Sunday. Hopefully they will start keeping both sides open more regularly now that we're fully into the summer hours.
  15. Hey that's great! I was wondering how your trip went. I can't believe the lines were non-existent. The last time I went to HP on a super hot day like that the lines were all 2 hrs and it was miserable. Storm Runner is my favorite ride in the park by far and one of my fav. coasters in general. You nailed it with your summery that it's TTD + a short coaster. Congrats on a super successful visit with your young one - the first of many! I look forward to when she is a little older and seeing parks through her eyes. I love seeing it all but there's nothing quite like seeing a kid see something like that for the first time. I saw posts in the Hershey FB group this weekend that stated that while they were only running one train in the mornings, the 2nd train had made it into operations halfway through each day. That could explain why there were two when I was riding yesterday afternoon. Ride times for it dropped a lot around 2 some I'm guessing that's around when the second train went on.
  16. Fahrenheit at Hersheypark. I forgot how much of a rattle this coaster has... not my favorite but still ok.
  17. I hope this park can somehow manage to keep existing. It really seems like they are doing what they need to do to continue existing. Hopefully they can get more people in as the summer goes.
  18. I was there yesterday (took my 16 month old to her first amusement park and it went better than planned). Great Bear - My brother in law called it a great warm up coaster and I forgot how right he was. Not the best B&M invert, but unique and very fun, smooth and snappy in the twists. Skyrush - Man... Sykrush... I only got on once due to heat and a baby at the park, but wow... I was in second to back row right side wing. I understand the restraint complaints but it really wasn't that bad. Just thinking about it again... I need to reevaluate my top 5, that thing has so much air time, it just feels like it's trying to buck you out of the coaster. Intense and amazing. Carousel - My wife and I rode it with my daughter (figured it was a good first ride for her) and I don't know if I've ever noticed it before but that thing was actually really fast going around. I'm not sure if it actually is that quick or just felt quicker because we were standing and holding her on her horse, just a different perspective of the ride. Laff Trakk - The let us bring the stroller in the line with us and do a switch with my sister and brother in law so that made this ride that much better. It was great to get in the AC for a few minutes with how hot Sunday was (my phone said 93). The queue line was fine, a little goofy but that exactly what I would expect for a ride like Laff Trakk. The coaster itself was much better than expected. I've ridden Steel Dragon at Waldameer which is the exact same layout, but our car must have been the perfect amount of off balance (since we switched riders with my sister, my wife and I were the only ones in the car) I've never been on a spinning coaster that spun that well, and it worked really nicely for that ride. Don't know what else to say about it other than I'm pleasantly surprised. Lightning Racer - Not much to say other than I forgot how much I liked this coaster, very smooth for a wooden coaster with great miss elements. More fun than I remember and even more fun due to the fact that it was walk-on. Tiny Tracks - My wife and daughter road the tiny train and she seemed to really like it. I don't have much more to say about it other than she did really well with the rides and the heat of the day. The only thing that would stop me from bringing her to a park again for a bit is she wants to sit with us on everything currently so that reduces the number of kiddie rides she can go on. She loved what she did though. My wife needed a break from the heat after that and went to the dance show with the baby, my brother in law went to go ride his favorite (Wildcat) and my sister and I took off to see if we could fit two in during the show. Stormrunner - I may be mistaken, but to address other posts here, it seemed to be running two trains when I rode, I wasn't in the station very long as it was walk on for me at that point, but they were loading from both sides (someone with better knowledge of their loading procedures may be able to shed some more light on that, but that seemed like it was doing 2 trains). Short little ride but I love it. It takes the good things of Top Thrill Dragster and actually puts a roller coaster after it. It may not be tall but I enjoy it a lot. Fahrenheit- It's been years since I've been on this coaster but with a 10 minute wait I figured it was worth it. Could someone let me know if it has always had that rattle or if that's more recent (or just the ride I happened to get). Probably my least favorite coaster of the day. It has some cool elements and I like how compact it is into that spot, but it just was not enjoyable at all for me. I'm glad I did it but it wasn't great. Skyride - We were all pretty much done after that point, the heat had gotten to us even though we were having fun but my wife loves the skyride so I was happy to do that with her on the way out of the park. I love how it goes around Great Bear, it gives some really cool views. Overall we were at Hersheypark for about 4 hours (we had free tickets from Hershey Bears games, otherwise I wouldn't have been as ok with such a short trip). I was a bit more selfish on my ride requests than I could have been, but I knew there was limited time and really wanted to get my Skyrush ride in. The park had plenty of people, but the lines were all minimal. My daughter did amazingly and enjoyed the rides that she did. I'm going to have to take her to Waldameer (15 minutes from my house) before taking her to a bigger park again, just to get her a bit more used to riding some rides where we can watch her but it's just for kids). The heat was rough but because of it the lines were shorter so that could have been a lot worse. Worst part of the day is we left the baby's stuffed monkey on the tram into the park and she's been asking for it ever since, now we need to find her one just like it but we're doing that today. It was a great day, we were all exhausted but a great day.
  19. Well, that's your call. The littlest one, who's now 28 months, has been on three kiddie coasters and a larger number of flat rides once she started walking, and aside from one ill-fated Scrambler run at Knoebels last year, has loved just about everything she's been on. Her second trip to Hershey was much more well received than the initial one, and she'll be coming back later this year, since we're spending two days at the park for my son's sixth birthday.quote] We took our Daughter to Hershey for her first real park when she was 18 months old, she loved the rides, and later that same year we went to Story Land in NH which was perfect, all but a couple allowed her to ride. My daughter now loves rides and roller coasters and I hope to get her on even more this summer, Shes on the smaller side so its tough to find parks that allow kids under 42" and be worth it for her. But the few I find she cant wait to visit, she loves watching videos of them too. Its never too soon to get them on and loving them. I think it's more concern currently. I hope she loves amusement parks and I can take her from a really young age. The nice thing about Hersheypark is there is ZooAmerica if we find she hates the rides. (man I hope she loves rides). I think I just took a more extreme thought due to the current concern, it will probably go way better than I'm expecting. Does anyone have an opinion on Saturday vs. Sunday for smaller crowds?
  20. Please tell me they kept the singing cows, at least. They've... changed... This is terrible news. I've seen two changes of that ride but always loved the singing cows.
  21. I brought my daughter here at 7 months and 22 months; 16 months is going to be tough. Is she walking on her own yet? Most of the kiddie rides that support children under 36" explicitly have the "no hand-held infants" restriction on that, and they usually test it by having the child take a few steps on their own. If she can't handle that, it's going to be very slim pickings as far as what rides she can go on. Off the top of my head, you should be okay on the carousel, Ferris wheel, Dry Gulch Railroad, monorail, and maybe a small handful of others. If she's good with walking, that opens up a much wider range of kiddie rides, and even some questionable choices that might be a little too much for someone under two, like the Tilt-a-Whirl and Starship America. If you visit Hershey's Chocolate World which is accessible via their main parking lot, there is a free animatronic dark ride through "the factory" that she shouldn't have any problems with. They supposedly remodeled it for last season and I haven't checked it out since they made the changes, but I can't imagine that they would have changed it too radically. You could also try checking out the shows at the Music Box Theater and the Aquatheatre if you think either of them will hold her interest; my daughter had a hard time sitting through them but she's naturally cranky. Thank you for the rundown. Ideally we would have had the grandparents stay with my daughter at my sister's place, but unfortunately that fell through. I'm expecting to maybe get a few hours in at Hershey but not much more, hopefully I can get my ride on Skyrush (much needed credit that I'm looking forward to). It looks like she will be able to do some of the nice simple rides like the balloons and she likes animals so Zoo America may work out well. In general this may be a disaster but I'll let you all know how it goes, hopefully we can actually have a good time. In the future I will not do any amusement parks with any children under 5 probably (just so they can appreciate it a little more).
  22. Hey everyone, I'm heading to Harrisburg this weekend to visit family and we're making my first trip to Hersheypark in quite some time (since before Skyrush was built) but this is going to be a bit of an interesting trip for me. This will be the first theme park I take my young daughter (16 months old) to. We were hoping to have grandparents come to Harrisburg also to watch her while we go to the park, but that fell through. Long story short I suppose, does anyone have any advice for taking a toddler to an amusement park and still having a fun time? What are some things a young kid would enjoy at Hersheypark (I've always just ignored kiddie rides).
  23. Alpengeist is defiantly rougher than it used to be, it's still fun, but I don't ride it as much as I would have in the past. I know it's not the best coaster ever but Loch Ness Monster is still in my top ten ridden coasters, Arrow quality and all. It may just be my sense of nostalgia for that coaster.
  24. I always enjoyed the Rhine River Cruise, any time I've done it it's been a nice calm few minute break for the day.
