  1. While The Walking Dead isn't my cup of tea, this will be a hit with the general public and draw even more guests into the park. And having a permanent haunted house for Horror Nights again will certainly allow the budget for the rest of the event to be stretched between the other five mazes/houses that have to be made new each year.

  3. Tonight the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts hosted Theme Park Review for the presentation of Unwrapped Live: A Free Musical Experience. The show consisted of a unique musical ensemble including famed musicians Sheila E., Roy Ayers, Karen Brigg and the band FarYoung. The show brought star power and coupled it with incredible talent to present a unique experience for the eyes and ears to behold. Drums, saxophones, guitars and fantastic vocalists brought the audience to the feet several times throughout the evening with the Earth, Wind and Fire tribute finale leaving the audience risen for over five whole minutes! The highlight of the show was easily Sheila E. who seemed to draw the largest crowd of those who were familiar. While she surprisingly did not sing despite having the background, she drummed throughout the show as a part of the ensemble for select songs and had several solo performances for which she could hold the spotlight. At one point in the show she drummed so feverishly that the drumstick snapped in half--and without missing a beat, she tossed the broken stick in the air and unsheathed a spare to resume playing with both hands. Special thanks to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for having us once again for another incredible show! While the show was only available for one night in Orlando, this show was a shining example of just how great it is to have such a world-class venue in the Downtown area. The Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts hosts musicals, theatre, dance, comedy and musical events and it is great to see something like Unwrapped Live come to the Orlando area. I absolutely adore this venue, inside and out! Karen Brigg used her violin to present unique versions of well know songs like "Gangsta's Paradise" during the show. Cheers to another incredible night at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts. "Butterscotch" is an extremely talented beat boxer who added a unique set of sounds to each song performed. Roy Ayers rocked the vibraphone. It was an incredible evening and quite the show to experience! An Orlando-based band, FarYoung performed a small set as well.
  4. ^^I'm referring to the ride in which guests are put in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Based on the pre-viz footage shown during the special, many have deduced that this is an evolution of Disney's trackless ride technology being used for this attraction.
  5. ^Yep. No point in investing in things that will get blown over into ride paths because of high winds, ripped apart due to the natural sandblasting in the area or scorched by the heat and direct light of the sun. For all of these reasons, it makes no sense to even both adding theming beyond what you already see.
  6. I'm still VERY curious to see how this ride works and behaves in real life as opposed to concept videos.
  7. Interesting that the plan is to reportedly redevelopment as another amusement park-style experience... I somehow doubt that all the rides would've been shipped off if they planned to use the space for a similar purpose.
  8. I continue to be jealous that parks like Everland are able to acquire pandas while Disney's Animal Kingdom Park is unable to do so... What I wouldn't give to see pandas in a quality Florida park that I could revisit frequently...
  9. The ride has become less desirable to prospective buyers with each and every day it has been standing but not operating. Extended time spent standing but not operating depreciates the value of a coaster and the ride has not been maintained at all since it closed, so it is likely that the track itself is in poor condition. Often inthese circumstances, it would cost more to disassemble, transport and reassemble while refurbishing needy sections than it would to build a new coaster from scratch. At this point it is best we cut our losses with the Dania Beach Hurricane...
  10. The ride is looking great (particularly with the wooden supports instead of the steel ones Fun Spot America's model uses). I can't wait to see what the coaster looks like when plussed with the park's signature theming.
  11. None of the other coasters that are outside have any theming either...
  12. I guess I was one of the few that really enjoyed Luigi's Flying Tires and rarely had problems navigating with the ride vehicles. That being said, I really loved Aquatopia at Tokyo DisneySea, so I'm certainly not going to complain about a trackless ride making its way to Disneyland... And I don't think anyone should worry that the arrival of Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters would prevent Disneyland from getting another trackless ride. Based on the footage shown during the Disneyland 60th Anniversary Special, it looks to be likely that the ride system is something in line with the trackless vehicles used on Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris.
  13. Construction looks to finally be picking up pace! I'm anxious to see how the finished product turns out.
  14. Some of those maneuvers look incredible! And I really love seeing the park invest the time and money into theming the queue and ride area as heavily as they are. This could really be a sleeper hit coaster of 2016!

Action abounds throughout Treasure Cove with exciting entertainment throughout the land. Mulan is one of the many classic stories that guests will discover while cruising the water aboard Voyage to the Crystal Grotto in Fantasyland.
  17. Yesterday I stopped in to SeaWorld Orlando for a quick hour before the park closed to ride Kraken and to check out the latest progress on Mako. The last time I was in the park, the only section of Mako that had been built was the station, so the progress on the ride has been significant compared to what I last saw. This coaster is a beauty in person and I cannot wait for it to debut so that I can get my airtime fix after work every once in a while (it'll probably be more frequent when it first opens)... I decided to stop into the park after work on a whim... And 45 minutes later I was here! Over in Antarctica some of the rock work is being refurbished. Some of the 50th anniversary decor is still up in the park... Kraken presents some great views of its new neighbor Mako. More airtime hills still to be constructed... You can see Mako from almost every angle you can see Kraken today. Seriously looks great! Over in the new Sharks Realm, the area marquee's installation is nearly complete. The ride dwarfs Kraken as well. Mako towers over Shark Encounter and can be seen from anywhere in the Sharks Realm. Another look at the marquee... There's a neat new shark design in the groundwork in front of Shark Encounter. The aviary next to Shark Encounter is being refurbished as a part of the overall progress on the Sharks Realm. The close call with the building looks wonderful! Mako crosses over guests twice during its ride path, both times in this corner of the park. The last portion of the ride interacts with the guest areas very closely... I can't get over how nice this maneuver looks so far! The waterfront seating area behind the Fins gift shop will be a great place to watch the ride's final turnaround before it heads towards the brake run. The final turnaround still has several pieces of track to be installed. I can't wait to see Mako finished within the next month or so!
  18. This would still be a good move for Merlin. New York is a prime market for a Legoland park as there are few family-focused parks nearby.
  19. That enclosure is definitely a good way to plus this shuttle coaster. I'm interested to see if anything happens inside as a part of the experience.
  20. This continues to look better and better with each update!
  21. It is a shame that the Dania Beach Hurricane has to go... I used to spend my birthdays in South Florida with at least one ride per trip. It was an undeniably fun wooden coaster, and one of the more smooth wooden coasters of its kind. That being said, it was in a terrible location and was poorly managed and operated. I'm sad to see it get torn down but it was an inevitability that couldn't be prevented.
  22. This looks like a nice re-theme for the existing area of the park. I'll be curious to see how closely the finished product looks when compared to the concept art.
  23. ^^Six Flags America is long overdue for a new coaster... Not one that has been relocated and refurbished. But here's hoping this park gets some desperately needed attention--it doesn't matter what they get, as long as they get something of value.
