Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
storms555 replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think one of the reasons Adventure Expresses ending is so disappointing is because the coaster as a whole is disappointing as it is. I was wanting some good ol' actual drops! When we climbed the last lift hill I thought thats what I was getting but nope! Coasters that only have twisty track and very shallow curved drips arnt really that fun, period. Heck its a lot more fun to wait for a super snowy day,go to Toys R Us or Wal-Mart buy,go to the nearest hill and go sledding. -
Best Drop Ride!!!
storms555 replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
#SadDay That was also my first drop ride, and it was amazing. I never been on an old school drop tower. However they look really neat. I'd like to try one out one day even though there isnt many left. Actually i dont know what parks have one. I just know Dorney has CP's old one. To bad CP still didnt have theirs I could of tried it out when i went. Also the idea of an amusement park have TWO main drop towers is pretty awesome! -
I actually didnt go on the SLC. The lines were long as far as theme parks usually go and i wanted to get the most thrilling coasters in. Nothing against the SLC but it just didnt look as fun as many of the others. I did go on the Boomerang though. I actually enjoyed it a lot. Not as fun as Ride of Steel but still fun. Also as for the SLC before I knew much about coasters even looking just looking at it,it looked kind of painful. Still if i ever go back to a park with one I might try it out to see if its as bad as others say it is. However of course it wouldnt be on top of my list.

I have distant family on my dads side who lives in this area,so I been to the Niagara Falls/Buffalo area a few times. I also been on the Canadian side too. Clifton Hill was a pretty awesome tourist area. On the Buffalo side one of my favorite attractions is Cave of the Winds. Not sure they still have that. I haven't been there since the summer of 2005. But it was awesome you could stand right under the fall! It was a lot more fun than the behind the falls attraction on the Canadian side. I also been to Darien Lake twice and once too Fantasy Island. I would like to visit there again one day though. Its been so long! Also if I was to go again i would like to go to Canada's Wonderland(even though its a little way off from the area) and also try one of those speed boats that rides the rapids. I wouldnt mind going to Cave of the Winds again that was so much fun.

No matter what year it opens I just hope I can go back and ride it when it does open! I only been on one RMC. Goliath at Great America and while its a really awesome coaster, its super shot. Mean Streak was a really long coaster. I can only imagine what it would be like to be on a coaster that is like 4 Goliaths put together! -
What is the best floorless?
storms555 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is probably not a popular vote but I'd have to say any Dive Machine coaster is pretty awesome to me. It may not be the most forceful coasters but I love thee 90 degree angle 200 ft drops and like how it just lets you hang there for a while before dropping. Its almost like a complete free fall. -
Top / Best Amusement Park (s)
storms555 replied to bodombeast's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I will list my top 5. 1.My favorite of course is Cedar Point! Such an awesome place and a playground for thrill seekers! I would one day love to go to Magic Mountain and Great Adventure as they are known for a lot of thrills as well. 2.Even though I havent been to this park since 2004 Id have to go with Kings Island as my second. They had so many varieties for coasters. I would also like to go back here one day and try out Diamondback and Banshee! They both look really awesome. 3.Six Flags Great America which is my park it may not have the best of the best but it has a Hyper,a RMC,B&M Invert,Flying coaster, drop tower so I cant complain. It's also the park I been at the most. 4.Busch Gardens Tampa has some awesome rides like Falcons Fury Kumba and Sheikra. Sadly Montu was closed down when i went but it really did look like a top notch invert! Also it has animals! Its like an amusement park and big zoo combined so best of both worlds. 5.Universal Studios Orlando/Islands of Adventure 2 in 1 part that has some fun thrill rides and a lot of other unique rides. -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
storms555 replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For the best ending I would think the last cork screw on Kumba was pretty awesome. It caught me off by surprise and was a lot of fun. I havent been on as many coasters as many others here so my choices will be a little more limited. For lamest I'd have to go with Adventure Express at Kings Island. That ride as a whole is lame sauce!! When we climbed up that last lift hill i think FINALLY there would be an ACTUAL drop! Nope! It was only back to the station! Then again I was never really a fan of coasters that lacked both real drops and inversions. Just twisty track is boring to me. -
Best Drop Ride!!!
storms555 replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think all drop tower rides are a lot of fun! It's pretty much my favorite type of flat ride. However Id have to say Falcons Fury at BGT is my favorite! I mean you face down at the ground and that makes it even more scary which in turn makes it more thrilling! My second favorite would be Drop Tower at Kings Island even though I haven't been there in years. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
storms555 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hear a lot of "praise" about Windseekers. However I never been on one. The one at Cedar Point was closed down the whole time I was there during the last labor day weekend.(or maybe it was open at some points but we just didnt have time or was only open for a short period of time) However I remember nicknaming it the "hybrid ride". As in a cross between a leisure ride(like a Ferris wheel, train ride, boat ride or sky ride) and a thrill ride. The thrill part being that you are hanging from chains or some what thin poles up really really high up! The closest thing to a Windseeker I been on was this windseeker-like ride that was a lot shorter and was at a fair. The pole the ride rotated around was also a lot thinner. -
I hate how people make a big deal about grammar and spelling on forums, comment sections, even good old chatrooms! Lesure websites and social media is for relaxation and for NOT worrying about impressing others! You may have to do stuff a certain way for school or work but you shouldn't have to do stuff a certain way when are suppose to be taking it easy!

I was fine on that ride didnt feel sick however Maxair was a different story...I know its an enjoyable ride but i end up feeling nauseous right away. Even though I took motion sickness pills before I got there. It was really hard to have fun on it when i felt like i was going to puke Thing is its not like Maxair spun that much! Also the fact it seems the motion sickness pills dont work as well for as they used too. Which is sad since i love to ride rides so much. Coasters and drop rides dont make me feel sick but spinning rides even if its a small spin tend to make me feel queazy. Or the fact typical carnie rides make me often feel bleh ever after i take the pills now. Last summer when i went to a near by carnival even the magic carpet ride was making me feel kind of sick feeling(I didnt puke but still felt pretty awful) I took two and a half pills too. Before the pills would work wonders but as i get older it seems even those wont works as well Maybe ill have to find something else to replace the Dramamine. -

While not the best of the best I think WT is pretty fun. I enjoy launching coasters a lot and I also think its more fun then the one at SF Great America.(which is fun too but not as fun as WT of course) Also I like how its near the beach front. Its cool how you are racing through the shoreline. It's a really nice touch. -
I think its more cringe worthy to call lets say a magic carpet ride a roller coaster like H3H3 did....Magic carpet rides dont even have a track and stay in one place the whole time! Its like he doesnt know what a coaster is....usually people who lack THAT much knowledge about amusement parks probably dont care about or care for amusement parks...Like a stick in the mud lol. Im not angry about it I just think its cringe worthy. Just imagine this: "hurr-durr the Tilty World is my favorite Rollycoasterrr!" Believe there is people out there like that. In all honesty now that I look at the Larson Loop thing its not even the worse. The worst of the worst is when people call ANY amusement park ride a coaster. I have people in my family who do it too! (p.s i wish there was a "derp" emote) I'm just saying its amazing how much basic knowledge people lack! Im not talking about people who dont know if a coaster is an Intamin or B&M im talking about when someone doesnt know the difference between a merry-go-round and a Ferris wheel!!! Dont know the difference between a roller coaster or a roll-o-plane! etc etc.
-
I dont know why that person keeps compare the whole pop vs soda thing to the whole Larson Loop thing....Pop and Soda are the same thing where as a carnie ride and an actual roller coaster are not! The coaster thing is more of a marketing issue where as saying soda instead of pop is not....as its the same thing just different names. Im from Chicago so Im used to saying pop myself but if someone said soda I most likely wouldnt notice. If someone called a Loop or worse like that H3H3 guy called any form of amusement park ride a coaster,it makes them seem like they dont know much about amusement parks or roller coasters at all. Also nothing against Larson Loops as I actually enjoy them but its silly to call them "THE" new roller coaster of a park and also the fact actual coasters are far more fun! A lot of those people think any theme park ride is a coaster. It seems those people dont care about amusement parks much.

When most of your neighbors are fish it does tend to cut down on the bitching and moaning. Apparently the people near by dont appreciate what they have! Heck I dream of living super close to an amusement park! Also if they knew it was going to be noisy not sure why they moved their in the first place! But yea good thing CP does only have fish for neighbors! -
Just gonna go out and say the reason I cringed wasn't the mislabeling of the ride, but the woman's desire to have intimate, sexual relations with the ride. I can't cringe harder. Well both made me cringe. I seen the documentary itself and some of her lines makes you want to roll up in a ball and hide. I heard somewhere those lines she said weren't suppose to be in the program but they never edit it out because they thought it would make the story juicier. She was so ashamed of that how ordeal she pretty much dropped off the face of the earth. Of course it makes me wonder why she decided to make a documentary about her strange obsession in the FIRST place!
-
I'm not saying people would stop coming just that some people might get tricked into thinking there would be 16 actual literal coasters. However really its not the worse misnaming thing. I seen people who knew diddly squat about amusement parks who called ALL rides "coasters". Like the youtuber H3H3 when he mentioned that lady and her odd obsession with the magic carpet ride at knoebels he kept calling it a roller coaster! I was double cringing. For the odd lady and for the youtuber himself who didn't know what a roller coaster was apparently! His wife kept calling it a coaster too! Not all rides are coasters..... In their case merry-go-rounds are coasters! Heck your grandma's power scooter is a coaster! Strap on a pair of skates and you can be your own roller coaster!! Imagine if a bunch of hard core coaster enthusiasts stormed his comment section..... Probably wouldnt be pretty.....
-
^If they did add a Larson Loop you think they'd flaunt it around as a new coaster? Since they are getting the Joker i can imagine them bragging "2 NEW COASTERS FOR 2017 SEASON!!!" Look I have nothing against Loops heck they are one of my favorite carnival flat rides but to call it a coaster is kind of tacky/cheap...I know its nothing to make a big deal but imagine going there expecting two new coasters and only one being a carnie ride....So they pretty much roped you in! Kind of snake-ish. Then again I guess thats how most of the business world is like anyways. Also they are no where as fun as real roller coasters! Rides like the Superloop would be more of a coaster substitute kind of like carob is a chocolate substitute. lol.

Theme parks without coasters
storms555 replied to Hexeffects's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Depending what type of place it is really but I prefer places with rides. Whats weird is I have this book from years ago that includes every amusement park/theme park in America and Canada. Its called The Amusement Park Guide. 5th addition The author for some reason decided to include places like Kentucky Action Park and Riding Stables, Dutch Village,Clarks Trading Post,or Circle M Corral Family Fun Park which i found pretty odd. To me those type of places arnt considered amusement parks or theme parks more like tourist attractions. The author also included some typical FECs too.. Where the only rides are just go-carts ,bumper boats, and kiddie rides only ....typical FEC stuff. I guess everyone has different taste though i prefer to visit somewhere with world class thrill rides oppose to a glorified horse stable themed tourist trap....*yawn* However a place like Epcot does seem like it would be a cool and fun place to be. Also nothing against the cheesy roadside type attractions but I prefer full fledged amusement parks with you know thrill rides or/and world class theme parks that you would feel like you are in another world. -
