I dunno who Nina Kleppe is but I'm sure she likes this as do I. Hilarious. Thank you Been a while since I looked at that forum. I have no idea what the last few pages are about, but I gather we are in the throws of winter. Even though it isn't winter. I'm just scanning for pictures of you know what... -

What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
JT325 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
God I love that ride. I put it in my #2 spot. Rode the heck out of it this past August and it's even better than last year. As far as terrifying rides go, I would say some sky rides as well as Wind Seekers. But it's a good terrified! I love them. I just hold on tight. I love them even more for the fact I can find a ride that actually scares me. -
I'm pretty sure the ride op death was a female... I remember an article said the train killed her instantly, and threw her under the station. Is this when they stopped wearing earplugs in the station? I remember some ride ops wearing earplugs (and immediately noting the safety risk to myself), as the chain-drive in the station used to be kinda loud.

There's he really crappy Santa's Lodge that is just about a mile away. Then there's a Baymont Inn and Suites and Motel 6 in Dale which is maybe 10 minutes away. I've stayed at those hotels in Dale. They are ok at best. There aren't too many options... yet! This year, a bunch of my family stayed in 2 cabins in the campground. That was nice! Not cheap, but ok for a few people. Not to discredit you but when we stayed at the Baymont it was fantastic, albeit a little pricy. We also went in with low expectations since we had never even heard of the chain before, and it was in the middle of nowhere IN, so that may have skewed our opinions of the property. No discredit taken, thank you for sharing. I guess those hotels have been hit and miss for me. I've been going to Holiday World since 1995, and my friends and I have had good rooms and cruddy ones. And cruddy service. As someone else mentioned, I'm also looking forward to Holiday World opening up their own hotel at some point. I would feel confident in their quality! -

It would help if they went without seatbelts... but Cedar Fair likes their extra seat belts as does GCI. The good thing is they have the ability to run a tight coaster operation. I can only think of one GCI coaster with no seatbelts, Wodan at Europa Park. It runs 3 trains, like Mystic Timbers will. Maybe an unload platform will be in that shed. teehee -

Santa's Village AZoosment Park Discussion Thread

I always say "the best drop tower in the midwest." It's much better than the Intamin drop tower at Great America, the huge S&S drop towers at Cedar Point, the huge disc drop tower at Kings Island, and even the tilting drop at SFOG (I know, not the midwest). I have not yet been on the tallest ones at SFGAdventure and SFMM, but I've heard those drops simply aren't the most thrilling (aside from being very tall). Santa's Villiage X-Treme Elevation drop has more of a "dead-weight" drop feel to it, very potent! Don't get me wrong, all the others I listed are fun too! I would compare X-Treme Elevation (and even equate it) with the awesome drop towers at Waldameer and Knoebels, whatever manufacturer those are. They may not be as tall as the Intamin and S&S big boys, but they are much MUCH more thrilling. And comfortable. They also don't stop at the top, they just drop - and you don't know when it's coming. (Actually, if you pay close attention to the sounds the thing is making, you can predict it. For real nerds!) -

Hey that's one of my favorite movies. I got my Rob Zombie movies switched around; Rabbit in Red is from Halloween. Which I love as well. Most of it anyway. So this Super Loop Kentucky Kingdom is getting, is it the same model all the Six Flags have been buying up? Is it the larger Larson Loop? I thought there was a huge one they offered, with more seating. I know they had a winged model as well. -

^House of 1,000 corpses fan? Like your screen name! Years ago, I do remember waiting in long lines for Thunder Run. It was so nice and smooth in 1992! The last time I rode it (on a very unfortunate day in 2007), the entire side padding on my friends' side of the car was completely gone. Bolts and screws were loose all over or missing, and my lap bar popped up during the ride. I'm glad it's in much better shape now! -

No one ever designed transfer track for it in the first place. Lot of structural work to do for a ride that is currently not the big draw. Maybe down the line? Both Raven and Legend have had 2nd trains added, plus storage. If they need it, I hope they do it. -

Damn, you're good Thank you. Not exactly rocket science, but I remember that deserted Calypso at Fun Spot the minute I saw that on the video. Turns out this Calypso was originally at LeSourdsville Lake/Americana. That time I rode Screechin' Eagle 64 times in one day Yes, please! -

^Very cool. I hope they decide to put it up for operation! I love those old rides. Another clue from the video... A map showing where the Calypso ran in 1972 (Coney Island, Cincinnati), then up to Fun Spot, then Holiday World in 2017. They also mention a "the names," perhaps they will have a naming contest for the new ride. -

Did anyone catch the facebook live feed? Is this a Calypso car? Could Holiday World be adding a classic flat ride!? And here is a Calypso at Fun Spot (Angola, IN) I took last January. Hope I'm not ruining any surprises... A classic Calypso would definitely be a nice addition! -

So much crazier. I swear it almost goes upside down Funny you would say that! Years ago, probably around 1987 (!!!) at a carnival in a Chicago suburb, they had a super frightening Paratrooper. It was positioned nearly hanging over a road. It went SO FAST I think we were going past 90 degrees. Then it went backwards. I've never seen anything like it since! Ah, the 80s. Fun Spot looks like such a great place, I gotta get out there. And they will have a sky ride!? Yes please! -
Launch VS Lift Hill?
JT325 replied to DoinItForTheFame's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since we're talking about lifts, I'll give another opinion from a "lift hill enthusiast/geek" POV. I like lifts that change speed; Demon at SF Great America does this thing near the top for the past 3 or so years, it almost seems like the train is going to fall backwards, then just slows down. They even worked the VR into that quirk! The Gargoyles land on your helicopter when that slight jerk occurs (the VR is ok, but I love my plain old Demon). It makes the lift seem like it's got a mind of it's own. The Beast used to change speed on both lifts for blocking purposes, does it still do that?
