  1. That explains the lack of any notable forces. But if you're riding a B&M that isn't real does it still rattle? It depends on the number of imaginary ball & socket joints and hinges the ride has: Schwarzkopf did it right! If CP is really starting work on a "new" Mean Streak/RMC/etc., good for them. I'm surprised, but good for them! They are obviously doing well. I visited the park 4 times this year (with my 2017 CF Platinum Pass; one visit was included and the other days were $14.99). The quality of the service is very good, SO much higher than Six Flags. It makes me WANT to spend my money there. Even if they don't have a Schwarzkopf coaster. Anymore. Or a classic woodie with classic seating. Anymore. It's still a fun park with tons of coasters and flat rides that are open and running well. All sorts of lines (food, entrance, rides) move quickly and employees know what they are doing.
  2. Whatever is happening, it sure is mildly entertaining watching everyone ponder about it. The folks at Cedar Point are probably enjoying it too! On a related note, I got my final ride in on Mean Streak last Friday night. I remember the ride in early 1991; the run from the 3rd drop to the block brake was phenomenal. But that all got botched up over the next few years: re-profiled, brakes and rough track. Although still not the most exciting ride around, I didn't find my recent rides (last week and 3 weeks ago) to be too rough. It's funny that CP fanboys think that's rough...
  3. I'm getting the good 'ol "error trapper" message. I can't remember how I may have fixed this issue (if at all!) years ago. I'm running Windows 10 now... I seem to get this message when I've been working on a game for a long time. I tried all the different compatibility modes to no avail. Surely there has to be an easy fix for this? Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. I'm late to the discussion, but I was under the assumption that if Mean Streak is to be converted by RMC, it would be happening in 2018?
  5. My visit to Conneaut a couple weeks ago solidified Blue Streak as my #2 coaster. Even with only a 3 car train, it's running better than last year. (I then spent a couple days at Cedar Point, and although a bushel of fun, nothing there comes close to the fun and uniqueness of the Conneaut Blue Streak). The work they did on the first drop really shows; I heard the work will continue. I also checked out the (2?!) adult water slides. I had the notion that these might kick some serious bootay due to them being so old. Boy, was I right! Excellent fun. Ride laying down or sitting up, whatever works for ya! Did each one about 7 times. It's nice to see the park looking better than the last couple years, and I'm hopeful it will continue to do and look better. I could really see it like a mini Knoebels.
  6. Yes!!! The list is fun to look at, but seems imbalanced by the number of folks who only ride the "big" rides or visit the "big" parks. I like Millennium Force, it's a fun ride, but I would pick Magnum, Mind Bender (SFOG), Phantom's Revenge, etc. way over it. Come to think of it, I don't even think MF would be in my top 10 steel list if I had one. Still a fun ride, but I could never understand the awards. Is it all psychological, with all the hype and records it has had?
  7. And what coaster is heading to Santa's Village? Do tell
  8. This may seem like a silly question, but if I purchase a 2017 Platinum Season Pass at Cedar Point, I can get in one time for free in 2016 and purchase additional tickets (including Halloweekends?) for $14.99? Seems like a good deal. I mean, not Six Flags good but hey you gotta pay for quality operations. Also, if I purchase the season pass at the front gate (after I park), will they deduct the single day parking fee from the season pass purchase? I've been all over the website, and have a tendency to get confused. I'm thinking of dropping into the point on Monday or Tuesday next week, and have another trip on September 16th/17th with a friend. Looking forward to it!
  9. My heart will always be with the old school stuff; Schwarzkopf lap bars, buzz bars, NAD lap bars and similar classic styles. What's especially amazing about the Schwarzkopf lap bars is even though they are individual, you still have plenty of space to slide around for the lateral forces, and space for what I call "real" air time where your butt actually leaves the seat. Least accommodating would have to go to RMC. Sorry guys :/ They make the experience very un-coaster like in my book. I guess it's a trade off if you have to have crazy hang time and snap your spine "uplift forces."
  10. One ride that comes to mind is Flight Deck at Canada's Wonderland. I usually like those Vekoma models, but that one clobbered the heck outta me. And that was in the very front seat! The Time Warp next door was easy to ride in comparison. Related to current discussion, I *LOVE* Voyage!
  11. If you are going across Pennsylvania, they have a BUNCH of parks that are light years better than any Six Flags or Indiana Beach (but Holiday World IS awesomeness!) I would also add that the time it used to be at Indiana Beach is at night... but I haven't been there at night in years as we have always left early due to the crumminess since the Spackman's sold it 8 (??) years ago. It went down the tubes so fast.
  12. It's easy to hit everything once. But be warned, this is the first year for the new company, and the park is still putting itself back together. On our visit a few weeks ago, closed rides included Tig'ger, Lost Coaster, Giant Wheel, Shafer Queen, Log Flume and the new Super Loop... Operations are still as bad, if not worse than in past years. And the previously wonderful Hoosier Hurricane was still full of painful potholes. I hope the new company can pull it all together in the next couple years. If you are going out of your way, or pulling time away from another park, I would say hold off to see if the park improves next year. Indiana Beach used to be the sort of place we wanted to spend more TIME and MONEY, because it was so fun. The atmosphere, the rides, the lights at night, everything. Sort of a smaller Knoebels on the lake.
