^Thank you for the input! When I got this computer, I was told it could run No Limits 2 just fine... then I barely played that game. It makes sense that Planet Coaster is far more advanced and "heavy" than NL2. I'll probably wait a couple months and buy a new system. Planet Coaster is out of the world - holy - cow - awesome. I could kick myself for waiting so long to download it. When the game premiered 2 years ago, I saw they did NOT have a Schwarzkopf coaster and decided to take a pass. I have a feeling that will come along; even with out it's awesome.

I don't think so... I mean, I'm really clueless about this stuff. But I did have a friend help me retrieve this info: Which would seem to indicate that my system (Desktop) is not anywhere near fast enough for a big park in Planet Coaster. I'll just have to play it the best I can until I'm ready to get that new (gaming) computer. That will give me plenty of time to work on single coaster projects and cute pop stands and restrooms and stuff haha Unless of course there is a quick, cheap and easy fix. I'm ok with waiting for a new computer as well.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Hey now, some of us are very well behaved There will always be bad apples... shame on them. And how! It's such a great time, I took 12 family members a couple years ago and they all loved the place - including the non-coaster riders. -

Oh yeah, you need to get down there. Holiwood Nights is the best time for people like us. They spoil us. Rotten. The only bad thing about Holiday World is that it can make other parks look... whats the word.. cruddy. Same goes for Holiwood Nights; other events generally pale in comparison. I know ACE had an very long standing event down in Georgia (SFOG Spring Fling, I believe) finally cancelled after they didn't have enough people register. Holiday World shows you how great a park can be operated. -
Hey guys, I've been playing Planet Coaster for about a month now and loving it! My PC is about 4 years old... and running a little slow with some of the bigger parks I'm building in Planet Coaster. I'm looking for some advice for a simple upgrade to my PC, if possible, to make the game run nicer. Not very tech savvy compared to many folks, so simple is best. I've put a RAM card in a computer before, but nothing too advanced. Eventually I'll get a new gaming computer, but looking to keep it under $100 for a quick upgrade. Any advice? Here is my current system:

Planning a Hershey, Knoebels, Dorney trip
JT325 replied to AndrewA86's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was with a friend on the same 3 park trip a couple years ago. She was done with Dorney in under 2 hours but we could have easily spent a 2nd day at both Knoebels and Hersheypark (yes, we did preview night and the whole next day). Thought I would add my quick two cents. Have fun! -

Looks fantastic, fun and UNIQUE. We get record holders here in the states… And they get better looking and more unique rides in Europe. -
^Sounds great! I would love to go. The Playland Coaster is at the very top of my "must get to" coasters.

^Hey that worked, thank you! I was very excited to see the vintage pack, so a tribute to the Texas/Coney Cyclone was one of my first orders! Doing some playing around, I found the friction to be a touch too high on the wooden coasters (not sure about the others). Luckily, there is a way to adjust that. My No Limits days are coming back to me... this game is like a great in-between between NL and RCT. As a lover of truly classic coasters, it would be nice if the program offered the ability of geometry-based designs. The old school way... the way GCI does NOT approve of: "circles and lines." You know, the stuff that makes a classic coaster fun! Going back a couple years when this was released, I'm remembering why I didn't get the game then. There was no Schwarzkopf coasters in the previews... am I still missing something? Surely they couldn't leave those out. -

^Thank you for the help! I figured out over the last couple days (and a sore arm!) how to navigate, but it's going to take more practice on my part. I have a park, and it's finally turning a profit. Here are some questions I have: 1 - The only way I could turn a profit is by charging for rides AND park entrance. Is this the way to go? It would seem either entrance free/charge for rides or vice-versa? 2 - I keep giving my shop employees raises and training, but they get bored and quit. Even with a few extra vendors, there seem to be many places with no vendor... they are always in transit. 3 - I'm confused with the work rosters. It would seem this is the same as the blue highlighted squares in RCT2 (I never got into RCT3, so not sure what it looked like in there), where each employee is assigned... I started some new rosters, and drag the cursor over a large area. Is there a place to see that highlighted area? It's all a bit confusing to me. 4 - Can you change what the employees look like? The janitor looks so old and sad :/ 5 - When I start the game, I get this message: I click on that, then I get this message: I close that, then play the game. There seems to be no purpose for this? -

No joke! The height doesn't matter that much. Perhaps from a marketing POV, but otherwise a good ride is a good ride. Meanwhile, a little 78 foot tall woodie gets worlds of love tucked away in a Pennsylvania valley. And a 70 foot tall steel coaster near Chicago with a flat "ramp" drop consistently has the longest line in the park. A good design will have the longest return on investment. -

I just downloaded Planet Coaster for the first time last night. Most of my time was spent figuring out how to move my view and to navigate; is there a quicker way to get around? If I remember correctly, you could just drag your mouse in RCT2 to pan across? Either way, it's just my start so there will be a learning curve. Are there any suggested shortcut/tutorial videos? I mean besides the 6 or so that Planet Coaster posts themselves. I'm excited to get into this game! -

^If you do get back to the park, make sure you get 2nd to back on Blue Streak. It's all the airtime of the very back, but much less bumpy. Good to hear you had fun! -
The “Heinz 57” of perfection?
JT325 replied to TheGallophingGhost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll just piggyback on this... and add my 2 cents. The special thing about those Schwarzkopf trains are not only the restraints (which are comfy, not tight yet still keep you in) but more importantly, those seats. They are near-flat (slight depression in the middle) and not grippy. This enables you to slide around laterally on curves, sort of like a classic wood coaster. All while still having an individual lap bar, and no seat divider. It is steel coaster perfection to me, all designed around... what, 1975? -

^Heck yeah! Bring it up to the level it deserves. The 4th car on the Blue Streak went away for a "rehab" a couple years ago and never came back. That would be nice to see! -
Like Danrarbc said, don't miss Whizzer. A night ride in the very back seat if you can do it. Whizzer is not a big thrill coaster, but rather a very rare chill coaster that is impeccably maintained. An incredible ride if you like that sort of thing. It's easily one of my all-time favorites. As far as non-coaster rides, if you like "classic" stuff you'll want to hit at least one of the flumes: Logger's Run (double drop) and Yankee Clipper (straight drop). Also, Fiddler's Fling ("the fastest ride ever built" I joke to my friends) and Lobster are great flats not found everywhere, both Schwarzkopfs!. Triple Play and Hometown Fun Machine are good too; they are standards, but their setting at Great America is very nice. If you are going alone and want someone to hang at the park with, be sure to post here beforehand. A bunch of us live close... and a handful of coaster/park nerds are always at the park. I usually go at night, when the crowds start leaving. Unforunately, the park has cut hours during the summer again... no more 10 pm closes on weekdays.

Wow. That was on the highlights* of a trip to IB, even when the park was awesome. Bummer. But good for them to take their business elsewhere. IB has gone from one of my top 5 parks to one I no longer will visit. I started going to the park in 1990 and stopped my 2-3 yearly visits a couple years ago. It's so sad to see a once superb park run into the ground like that. *Yes, these strange tacos where no the best thing in the world, but still very good for park food. They used that crumbled Mexican cheese (queso fresco?) and had a yummy red sauce on top. Even if that was ketchup, it was good! -
