ChrisHanKwansivus Gift Exchange 2012!
Sir Clinksalot replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That was my first thought as well!!! That's so awesome!!! -
I think it looks great, hope we'll get out to FL soon. True, but at the same time one of the hazards of doing futuristic themes is their tendency to date. Think of the way Tommorrowland feels today, or the way the architecture of Future World feels as a whole. When I first visited Epcot (2007) I guess it felt like an 80s rendition of the future. ....The future?... Here's the thing, using the digital screens like they have makes it easy to update in the upcoming years. Question, and forgive me if this has been asked: Is the ride experience different each time you go through? For example, the digital projections, are they the same every time?

That's totally awesome. I also got a 2nd bonus gift from my Santa which speaks to the awesomesauce of this person. I'll share later. -
What's the worst station you've been in
Sir Clinksalot replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Apparently they didn't learn their lesson because they did the same thing with Sierra Sidewinder. Add in another Knott's ride ... Jaguar. Another one that just opened this year, SkyRush. Thankfully they group you but that's out of necessity. -
I think the ride is going to be "fun", in fact, it will probably be among the best coasters in the park, if not all of CA (that's not saying much). But they had a chance to go for "amazing" and they just took the easy way out. That's my big issue with it. I'm sure down the road there is going to be another coaster going in this area of the park, the log jammer area is way bigger than this ride is going to be and they will have room to add another coaster. So why go with one long/awesome coaster when you can have two gimmicky coasters. As for it competing with Xcelerator, that ride is 10 years old.

Most Complicated Restraints
Sir Clinksalot replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Common misconception on the Premiere launched and B&M restraints. The seat belts aren't to hold the lap bar/OTSR in place should the restraint fail. It would take a catastrophic failure for a restraint on a modern coaster to fail. The seat belts are there to insure the rider fits into the restraints safely and that it has enough "clicks". This is why some B&M's have the "Big Boy" seat. Same concept of the Red/Green indicators on some of the Intamin lap bars. -
Honestly, coasters with multiple inversions are my least favorite type of coaster. Out of the multi-inversion coasters at SFMM the only one I ride with any frequency is Batman. So in that regard, I guess I am looking forward to Full Throttle. If Revolution didn't have OTSR's I think that and Colossus would probably be the two coasters I'd ride most in the park even now.

Found another awesome thing for my Secret Santa and had to send it off. I trust them not to open presents until both are there. -
It just seems that retailers are focusing more on the "Big Ticket" items like TV's and Computers this year and if you aren't in the market for either (we aren't) then the deals just aren't that great. No bother, just means more $$ in my bank account in the end.

It just never ceases to amaze me that these parks who have actual weather to deal with can get rides open by Memorial day (or earlier) but SFMM can't. By the time Full Throttle opens it will be almost 2 years from the time Log Jammer closed to Full Throttle opening. That's just ridiculous for a major park and for a plot of land that is so significant. I guess it shouldn't amaze me, but it does.

I went to Target at 9pm Thursday night to get a 2nd Wii for $120 and a Nook Reader for $50 since I can never get my hands on the tablet to read books. LOL!! Got the Wii with no problem but I refused to wait in the line to get the Nook. Got up early on Friday to got o B&N and get the Nook for $60, decided to stop back at Target. Store was TOTALLY dead and they had a ton of Nook's left. Score. Fast forward to later on Friday and I had to run into Target to get a shirt (long story) and they had a Wii for $99. So basically I had no reason to go at 9pm Thursday. As for Cyber Monday ... big disappointment so far. I haven't found anything.

Just sent my gift. Gotta love Amazon.UK!!! -
As of right now, 2013 isn't looking to be a big year for me. Everything is kind of up in the air at the moment. Of course there will be the regulars (SFMM, Knott's, Disney, USH), hoping to get up to SFDK, CGA and SCCB next year to ride their new coasters (didn't get up there this year) and maybe out to Vegas at some point. Doing a long weekend to Lagoon isn't out of the question either. There is still and outside chance that I'll be doing the TPR Mexico trip, but I won't know until at least January (if there is even space at the time). If there are any Bashes on the Texas/MidWest Trip it's possible we could make one of those, but not sure.

Went to the park yesterday, it was DEAD. Only rode a few things, but from what I could tell the only rides running 1-train were Batman and Ninja. Tatsu had 2 trains, not sure about X2, didn't go over there. I walked on Batman and there were only 3 people on the entire train I was on. Full Throttle construction is taking up a lot more room than I thought it would. Oddly, it all seems to be happening closer to the entrance which makes me wonder if they are using the Log Jammer queue for the ride. The new themed Full Throttle land doesn't seem to be extending towards Mooseburger but just occupying the Chicken Plantation area (building already gone), Looney Tunes Stage (already gone) and the Palace arcade. Will just have to see I guess.

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
Sir Clinksalot replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant Surprise: GASM (SFGAdv): I know it's not there anymore, but I actually liked the ride and it hurt a lot less than what's there right now (Green Lantern) Volcano - The Blast Coaster (KD): I wasn't honestly expecting much from this ride given that from what I'd heard it had gone down and the fact that the effects weren't working anymore. I absolutely loved it, I think we rode it at least 10-12 times at ECB. Verbolten (BGW) - Just a fun, well themed ride. Something similar to this is what Knott's should have built. Unpleasant Surprise: Every woodie at KD with the exception of Scooby Doo: Probably the worst collection of woodies I've ridden at any one park. And I've ridden a LOT of bad wooden coasters. Green Lantern (SFGAdv): Other than Vortex, the absolute worst stand-up I've ever ridden. The layout seemed fine but the ride was just painful. Twister (Knoebels): I had hoped this ride had improved since my last visit in 2005 but unfortunately it hadn't. Great layout, I really want to love it, just needs some love maybe?
