  1. I'm kinda wishing I had ridden the Great Gasp when we were there in April. Oh well.
  2. ^ Sorry your head hurts!!! Complain to me all you want. ^^ Saw that last night, er, this morning. Effin' Hilarious!!!
  3. This headache has gone from bad to super bad in less than 3 hours. People's voices are really starting to irritate me...I have taken a total of 2400 mg of ibuprofen(spell?)...now stomach is churning... Kristi "just wants to complain to someone..." C.
  4. Wes, I know I have said it before, but it bears repeating ... You are the Mutha F'n Man!!!
  5. ^I really wish I could! I would love to go home and spend the day with the kids and Gregg. But, I am a trainer and my two people are not doing all that well so I do have to stay. I will just keep popping the 800mg ibuprofin and drink lots of water and coffee... Kristi "I think my head is going to explode today " C.
  6. ^ You should tell them you feel very very sick and are gonna puke on everyone unless you go home! Everyone will insist you leave immediately!
  7. I have a headache this morning and it is really stuffy in the office....I don't want to train someone today or I may go crazy.. Kristi "one more day til the weekend..." C.
  8. ^ There is a shuttle loop sitting in SFMW's parking lot. Don't see why they couldn't put it at SFMM. Maybe that's what is going up on the hill.
  9. ^ Tree Huggin' Hippie!!!
  10. ^ Thanks for that. I'm sorry ... sheesh ... I should have been more specific. Back to my original query, I think 'some' games over the past 10 years will be considered classics. Certainly Command and Conquer, the Monkey Island Series and RCT games will still be played. Heck, the first Monkey Island was released when? Robb? (I'm too lazy to look it up) Of course Call of Duty!!! I also agree that too many games now are just about the latest and greatest graphics and aren't spending enough time on game-play or story. Games are supposed to be fun first and foremost, at least in my opinion. But yeah, Super Mario All-Stars isn't the same, but it's the next best thing. The Super Mario Bros. had the most drastic changes, but I'm not sure if Super Mario Bros. 3 was changed that much. Gregg "I passed Super Mario Bros. in about 35 minutes today (and that was with no warps)" C.
  11. I just noticed my new name thingy... Kristi "thanks Elissa! I love a dead man! " C.
  12. It is kind of good that we won't be at parks too much, we need to concentrate on looking where we are potentially moving in less than a year! Kristi "has found lots of houses to hopefully be able to see when we are there!!! " C.
  13. ^^I am sorry! I didn't know. I was saying that because I am training two people at work and it is really getting frustrating. I really won't poke my eyes out!! Kristi "that would hurt really bad and I don't like pain!" C.
  14. Some games will always be remembered as classics, some that deserve to be remembered even if they haven't been played have already been forgotten and some people won't even know them now. Games like Space War and the original ADVENT on the DEC PDP-1 helped mould a lot of the conventions taken for granted now. I was more of a computer kid growing up rather than a console kid. Everyone had Sega Master Systems in the mid-80's here in the UK, hardly anyone had a NES (At least where I lived). I had an assortment of computers until I got a SNES when it launched. (After that I ended up going backwards and got a NES, a PC-Engine and other bits and pieces ) I still have fond memories of the early 80's home computer wars, playing games like Manic Miner and Horace goes Skiing... They were classics in their own way too. I think a lot of console games will be remembered as classics, perhaps unfairly, whereas classic computer games will get forgotten, games like Civilisation, Wolfenstein 3D, Elite, Wing Commander, Little Computer People and others are pretty much forgotten even now despite the contributions they've made to gaming (with maybe Wolf 3D being the exception). As for games now, I don't think there have been any games that cement themselves as classic since the end of the 16-bit era. The sense of innovation and imagination hasn't been as obvious since then, I think that's maybe because of the amount of money and manpower needed to produce a game since the evolution to 32-bit, especially on clunky to program systems like the Saturn, 3DO and Jaguar (64-bit ? kinda ). Because of the cost most games now are derivative clones, of course there is the occasional diamond. That's not to say games aren't fun now cos they are, I just feel a lot of the love that games had has gone. Maybe that's just rose-tinted glasses. So, in short, I expect some game franchises will still be remembered in 20 years time but I doubt if any individual titles from now will be remembered. WOW, can I post without ranting ?........ someone needs to kick the crap out of me once I pass 5 or 6 lines Just for note, between me and Bocakey, we now own 2 GBA SPs, a SNES, a PS1, a PS2, a Gamecube, a Dreamcast, an N64 and our 2 PCs... Not the BIGGEST list but if you'd have told me I'd own those in the early 90's I'd have died!!!!
  15. ^ Cheese lovin' alcoholic. Wow, this is fun. My actual location is Camarillo, CA ... but you can use the Short bus as well. Should be easy enough.
  16. ^ Hey, I gotta get the credits where I can get them.
  17. ^ Yeah, but our non-seasonal parks suck. What bugged me is that SFA and PKD are open all through October, but just not THAT weekend. Ugh. Again, it's okay though because technically this isn't a "Coaster" trip.
  18. Hmmm ... Maybe we will have to ditch the kids that day. Might be hard though since that's the weekend before our VA trip.
  19. Glad you liked it coasterdude , Your video was great and you can only improve. All the stuff like the heartbeats at the start is just using Windows Movie Maker, at each point where the picture changed I set it to fade in from white, which gives that effect. As for the ingame stuff, it's just a matter of patience and knowing what shots you want, use the freelook camera ingame and just capture lots of views and angles. Then split them in Windows Movie Maker and just play until it looks okay ! Capturing all the video is the long part, it took about 2 and a half to 3 hours to capture it all using the ingame recorder. I took a LOT of video that I didn't end up using. I had 3 complete runs, one from POV (which was used), one from just in front of the train (part of which was used) and one from the side (which didn't get used at all). The peeps jumping at the end of the credits was just something I thought of at the last minute to break up the end. I can't wait to see your new video ! It's always neat to see what other people make
  20. No more Sears Catalogs for these kids. And yeah, if you want to find stuff on the net, you can find it. Period.
  21. Elissa, your referring to Super Mario World. I'm referring to Super Mario Brothers that was on NES. They released it on SNES with Super Mario Brothers 2 and 3 and some lost levels. It's actually called Super Mario All Stars.
  22. Are you comfortable fitting stuff yourself ? $1000 is overkill for a decent rig if you are. Someone else might be able to find you better US sites for these things or better, these are all off Newegg.com. (I'm used to looking for stuff in the UK) It should at least give you a start. Geforce 6800 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X - $189 Athlon 64 3000+ - $155 EPoX EP-8KDA3J Socket 754 NVIDIA nForce3 Motherboard - $70.99 CORSAIR 1GB 184-Pin SDRAM - $87.50 That should be all you need to upgrade, depending on what you have at the moment.... it'd be handy to post that If you aren't comfortable upgrading your old one, you could check out these places for machines although it will likely be much cheaper to upgrade rather than buy a branded new machine. Alienware Dell
  23. I think you have done a fantastic job with the video! The coaster looks really cool, and if it was real, there is NO WAY I would get on it! I love the credits at the end! Especially cos my name appears!
  24. I was just playing Super Mario Brothers on the Super Nintendo. And I started thinking, this game is 20 years old. It came out when I was 9 or 10 and it's still awesome. I love the game. The kids love the game. Everybody I know loves the game. Hell, I have the Super Mario Brothers theme as my cell phone ring tone and anybody who hears it instantly knows what it is. But then I started thinking about the games of today. Thinking if we will still be playing them in 20 years. Thinking if my Son will be 27 years old and want to play any of the games of today. I just don't think any games of today are as memorable as those older games. What does everybody think?
