Photo TR: Bocakey & Pucechan's Boat Trip!
Sir Clinksalot replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
Well, on the way out, when the water level dropped, it took about 15 minutes. (we don't have photos of that cos we hadn't done this before and had more things on our minds, like our safety!) The one in the photos where the water was rising took about 30 minutes because the lock-keeper had the traffic lights on green to enter the lock, but when we got there the gates were closed! We had to reverse like crazy and cling to a wall and wait for the gates to open. I wouldn't like to go through a lock on my own, I don't know how people manage to, especially with a large boat! -

Hehe, it was a great day out, I really enjoyed myself and I know you did, especially when you were steering. Oh and that's a REALLY REALLY FLATTERING picture of me at the top. That'll teach me to let you take a pic when I've only just woken up. -
On Saturday, we went to see Simon's Mum and Dad on their narrow boat in Newark, Nottinghamshire, UK. As it was a nice day, they took us out for a ride! Here are the pictures of our trip! And here we are arriving back at the mooring. It really was a fun day out! Finally, the gates are open and we can continue our journey! Lots of water came rushing in much faster than I expected! I thought we were going to drown! Here we are in Nether Lock, Newark. It was scary! Here we are going under a noisy road bridge! These are very friendly cows! They were making friends with the fisherman! I am steering the boat, and I was scared to death but no-one else was! It was great fun! Simon is steering the boat! We were all scared for our safety because Simon is very clumsy! Here we are passing another boat on the River Trent! Here's Simon with his Mum and Dad! They made me stand at the front on my own Here I am on the back of the boat with my Mother-in-law! This is Mum and Dad's boat! It's very blue! It's 58 ft long and it hasn't had it's final paint job yet cos it's brand new! We have just arrived at King's Marina in Newark and are greeted by Mrs Duck and her babies! This is Lincoln Central train station. We are waiting for the connecting train to Newark! (And we are on the wrong platform) Yay! Here comes the train to Lincoln. This is Gainsborough Lea Road train station! It's also a garden centre! Simon takes a while to wake up properly! It's still very early for him!

Awesome pics!!! The bay was at least sunny today. When we were there in May the fog was socked in, especially at the Golden Gate bridge. I miss riding my bike, I need to get one!!! Gregg "Looks like we all had a desire to get out of the house today" C. -

Questions for anyone in the Virginia area...

^ We don't have Paramount Passes, but do have Busch passes, which is why we were thinking of BGW over PKD. Although PKD does have more credits. -
Yeah, I have to wonder how the hell she's going to wrap up all these plotholes without having the seventh book hitting 1000 pages. Then again, what's wrong with 1000 pages?

I am still looking at all possible flights for that weekend. We will let you know as soon as we book something so we can hopefully meet up!! What is the weather like this time of year back there? Kristi "so excited about leaving this state soon hopefully!!!" C. -
It has been warm all week and very sunny. We decided to go to the beach today to get some sun and cool off a little. Little did we know that we would just be cooling off, a lot. We left our house where it was very sunny and warm at 10:30 and drove the long distance of 10 miles to the beach. As soon as we could see the beach, it looked a little overcast. No biggie, it usually burns off. We turn onto the freeway, and yep, it was foggy. Not just a little foggy, really foggy. The last time we were at the beach was for the 4th and it was worse then, but today was still pretty foggy. We stayed at the beach for about 2 hours or so and then decided to go home to get warm. We did have fun, but it would have been nice to be able to stay at the beach most of the day. The kids played in the water, we tried to build sand castles and we just hung out. It was good to get out of the house. As soon as we left the beach, we turned onto the road to go home and what do we see? Blue sky and sun. Stupid California weather. I really am getting sick of this place! We did manage to take some pictures, so here they are.... Looking back at the beach...dumb weather.. This was the sky right as we turned to go home... Gregg laughing at me for being so bitter... Kristi still bitter about no sun... Gregg built some ocean front property Gregg in the back getting water for his sand castle.. Amanda in the water... Amanda and Josh didn't mind that the water was cold.. Amanda and I trying to build a sand castle, until the waves came up and knocked it down.. Josh had fun digging and getting sand everywhere FOG Kristi bitter about the fog...see it behind me?! It is not supposed to be foggy!!!

You'll find most big companies will pay for nice hotels. I know with my company we have a set dollar amount. We just put it on our Corporate card and they pay the bill. Usually it's quite easy to find a room in most cities under what the companies set amount is. Same thing goes for meals. In Atlanta earlier this year we had like a $65 limit on dinners each night. Had no problem eating well on that!!! Gregg "Denver is coming up soon!!" C. -
What's your favourite pie?
Sir Clinksalot replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've noticed something - you guys in the US have only listed sweet pies. Do you have savoury pies over there? I love sweet pies too, but you can't beat a pie filled with meat! I know they have savoury pies in New Zealand, cos my friend Zane introduced me to mini pies! Can someone answer this as it's kinda puzzling me. I can't tell if you just like the sweet ones best or if it's just that you only have sweet ones! Does that make sense? -
Questions for anyone in the Virginia area...

^ Yeah, if it happens it will be in Richmond since that is where I can transfer too. Good thing is I get to keep my CA salary, which is pretty good in Richmond. Yeah, we were looking into the DC airports and also Baltimore. I think what we will do is tour Richmond on Saturday, BGW on Sunday and SFA on Monday (gotta get on Superman) then fly home Monday night. -

Questions for anyone in the Virginia area...

We are looking to relocate next year to the east coast. Specifically, Virginia. We want to go out and visit there to see if this is a place we could handle living. We are thinking of visiting Labor Day weekend, however we were wondering what the easiest airport to fly into would be and any help with this would be great. We are looking at the Richmond area, or the surrounding cities there. While there we will be looking at houses, schools and of course visiting the parks in the area If anyone out there has any info that could help us, we would really appreciate it. Kristi "can't wait to get the hell out of California!!" C. -
^ They aren't commercials are they?
