  1. I really liked the Screamin' Swing at Knott's. If only it was a little bit longer. If this is a 32 person capacity I wonder if it will still be up-charge.
  2. What ever happened to Saturday Morning Cartoons?
  3. I've noticed the same thing. I have heard alot of songs that I would have never heard from videos and stuff. Kinda cool.
  4. HOLY SMURF!!!!
  5. I was waaaay too young to remember much of anything about it, but I actually went to that one in NC. Wish I could find some pictures of it, but my folks were never terribly photo-happy (though we did find a picture of me in mid-scream as I ran in terror from an oversized rodent).
  6. There is a NEW rumor about a Cars attraction using the Test Track system coming to DCA.
  7. To be fair, you didn't "simply" state it wouldn't load up on your machine. You suggested that the park was somehow to fault because you have a "decent" computer. To which I replied saying that it worked fine on my "average" machine and gave you some suggestions to try and help you get that park (and the other park you said failed with the same error) to work. Here is what I said: I did however take exception to Stitch's completely non-constructive and off-topic post and replied to that AFTER the tips intended for you. My original replies were simply opposing the suggestion you couldn't make large parks in RCT3 which is simply false. To which Stitch's replies in the end were getting quite aggressive so I suggested he PM me to discuss things further as the thread was already turning way off-topic. To which he never PM'ed me so I just assumed that was the end of it. In hindsight I shouldn't have even replied to him to begin with but what's done is done and at least I did try to take it off the boards once the whole debacle started getting personal.
  8. I remember when I was 2, a gigantic spider (as big as your hand) was running straight for me and my mum stamped on it. (Hope this doesn't sound too cruel, but she is scared to death of spiders). Lots of little baby spiders then ran from its body. This incident totally affected me and now I am absolutely petrified of spiders. This very morning, I had to get Simon to get rid of one that was in the bath. (It was huge). I can't walk into a room without checking the walls and ceiling. And I do react very badly when I see one. Usually I feel faint, sick and get very upset. So, you can safely say that my first memory was a bad one! I always wonder if my life would have turned out differently if I hadn't remembered it!
  9. Diff'rent Strokes and The Waltons! (TV) Sundays here were incomplete without Johnboy! I loved my Space Hopper! (Bouncy thing) Connect 4, Operation, Ker-Plunk and Downfall were all cool games!
  10. Geez, Horace goes Skiing, I remember fiddling with the volume dial on the dodgy tape deck I had trying to get that (and many other) speccy game to work Chuckie Egg and Manic Miner too, how many hours did I lose to Chuckie Egg Wasn't Back 2 School the sequel to School Daze ? I don't think I ever got round to even seeing it
  11. Isn't that like saying that you don't like roads because you don't own a car? Or you don't like microwave meals because you don't have a microwave? Just because you don't have a good computer, I don't think that's a reason to not like the game, (unless you have actually played it, given it a chance, and don't like it). It's a good reason for not owning or playing it though! Joanne "RCT3 really is a fantastic game, whether your computer is good enough to run it or not!" Allison
  12. Sheesh, far too many games. Some of my faves from no particular era : Asteroids (Arcade) Bubble Bobble (Arcade) Afterburner (Arcade) Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis/Megadrive) Bonk! (PC Engine) Turrican (Amstrad CPC464, was better on the 16-bit computers and I vaguely remember a Genesis/Megadrive version too...) Smash TV (SNES) Double Dragon 2 (NES) Robotron: 2084 (Arcade, how cool was 2 sticks at the time ?) Cool Spot (Genesis) Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis) Tetris (Gameboy) Space Harrier (Arcade) Outrun (Arcade) Contra 3/Super Probotector (SNES) Castlevania 4 (SNES) Rad Racer (NES) Super Mario Bros 1, 3 and USA (NES) Flimbos Quest (C64) Lots of Atari 2600 games too, playing them now ruins memories though Way too many to list though lol I have lots of fond memories of old 8-bit computer games like Skool Daze, Lords of Midnight, MANY MANY text adventures (Infocom, Level 9 and others). I, like most of the others in this thread have had most systems over the years and have favourites on them all, some right stinkers have turned up over the years too, who remembers how BAD the coversion of Pitfighter for the SNES was (not that it was great in the arcade though lol) Fond memories and great great times for me growing up !
  13. I LOVE Fire and Ice, I like dueling/racing coasters although I'm not too good at designing them. I like how this park is looking so far !
  14. Thanks, I guess that's the biggest compliment I can really get Hopefully I'll actually have some RIDES in the park today sometime, I tend to get carried away when theming and editing terrain ! At the moment it's not much of a park, more like a nice garden to walk around.
  15. It does lag quite badly once you reach a certain amount of scenery/peeps but honestly I have never had it reach frustrating level yet and my machine isn't exactly cutting edge (Athlon XP1700+, GF4Ti4400 128Mb (Oveclocked to just above Ti4600 level, 512Mb RAM) and I've built some fairly big parks and I have detail settings fairly high. Soaked! improved the lag quite a lot, and I get on average 10-15fps improvement even on my average PC with between 1000-1200 peeps, generally around 20fps, over that and my fps starts to drop, the worst I've had so far is around 8-10fps (with around 1800 peeps from memory) which was still playable (for me at least but maybe I'm used to dealing with this due to my PC ) but I generally enjoy building sandbox parks so I don't usually have too many peeps anyway, the park is usually closed just so I can build in peace Loading can get pretty horrendous on my PC, presumably because of RAM. Can be upwards of 5 minutes or so in my bigger parks. I'm guessing if I had more than 1Gb of RAM that I would see a fairly sharp improvement. The game is definitely a resource hog though, and there are plenty of people on the official boards with much higher end machines than mine that get bogged down badly. I think that maybe I'm just very lucky in that my playstyle doesn't incur the wrath of the lag demon. The only things I can think of that could explain that are that I'm fairly conservative with scenery, I only use what I need to get the effect I want and that I've tweaked the detail and distance settings until I'm happy with the look/performance compromise. I still have all the more advanced options enabled like Soakeds refraction and reflections and laser occlusion. The one place where I do lag badly most of the time is when I use the Pool Building tools, once I've finished building it's fine, but during building can be really traumatising ! Oh and using the peep-cam cheat can also bring my machine to it's knees with larger amounts of peeps. I get the impression from reading a lot of the posts on the official boards that it has a lot of issues with certain combinations of hardware, for some people it seems to cope well (like me) and for others even with 3Gb machines with a Radeon x800 it lags like crazy.
  16. To quote the great Mr. Vernon: Next time I have to come in here, I'm crackin' skulls
  17. Million Dollar Baby Didn't hold out high potential for this movie, but it was actually good. Not sure if it was the "Best" movie of the year, but I can say that Hilary Swank deserved the Best Actress award. It was quite entertaining, wasn't as sad as I thought it would be, just majorly messed up how it happened. If you like good drama's it's definitely worth the rental. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars
  18. The MGM Grand in Vegas also used to have a Wizard of Oz theme http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/6396/oz-vegas.htm
  19. ^ I agree and disagree. Like Robb said above, Disney has been using it's movies for rides for a LONG time. And now, with Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Country Bears, is using rides for movies. My kids also LOVE the pixar movies. The only "Traditional" animation they really watch is Spongebob and Rugrats. Every time we go to pick a movie to watch it's either a Pixar or Shrek, or something computer generated. Only once in awhile do they pick something from the "Old School" Disney shelf. Regarding the "Creativity" leaving, I also have to kind of disagree. EVERY classic Disney movie was based on a pre-existing story. Basically Walt took classic fairy-tales and told them in his way. Not to say they aren't awesome, because they are, but they were by no means original. When you look at the Pixar movies, all have been original stories, based off of ideas that have been around for awhile. Toy Story 1 and 2 - Toy's come alive Monsters Inc. - Monsters under the bed A Bugs Life - What it's like to be a bug Finding Nemo - What it's like to be a fish Incredibles - The Superhero family But it does seem that the creativity inside "Disney" not Pixar is gone. But that's what happens when you fire all of your imagineers. Looking at what they did at TDS I think there is still some kind of imagination yet, given the resources to use that budget. I would like nothing more than to see Disney return to traditional animation and be successful with it. But the "Cheapquels" are ruining that. Kids these days see Disney animation as being that. Unfortunately, I don't think were going to see big budget traditional animation come back to Disney anytime soon. Computer Animation is still too new (even though Toy Story came out 10 years ago) and is in high demand. Once the novelty wears off we may see a return to tradition. But, back to the topic at hand. I loved the Subs, glad they are coming back in some form. Wow, didn't realize I ranted that much.
  20. Nice reports and photo's. And there is one CA looping ride with only lap bars. Montezooma's Revenge.
  21. Here is my avatar. Independence Day ... Disneyland Castle Style ... PS, I'm gonna fix it more tomorrow using Photoshop.
  22. Here are a few new pics, haven't had chance to do much to the park The new path to the monorail and toilet/ATM facilities during the day. The same at night ! Point of View of the path during day. Same at night ! Hopefully I'll get around to adding a coaster tomorrow
  23. Definitely an odd one, at least you can view videos again....
