Police shot someone on a London undergound train
Sir Clinksalot replied to Cllins's topic in Random, Random, Random
The police had him completely restrained. They were all on top of him. He couldn't move a muscle, never mind press something to blow himself up. He was running because he was probably freaked out, or maybe he had broken the law in another way and thought he could make a getaway. But remember, they were plain clothes police and he was foreign. Maybe he thought they were bad guys pulling a gun on him. He was foreign and didn't understand the language. If the guy was unrestrained and appearing to be posing a threat (I admit he did look dodgy with a huge coat on), then cool, shoot the guy, because he may be about to kill people. But as I said, he was completely restrained. And if they really, really felt they had to shoot him, why not shoot him in the legs or arms to stop him moving? Five times in the head? The police themselves say they regret it, which I guess means they feel like I do, and shouldn't have done it I just think this country are making more and more enemies. We were already hated by most of the world. This poor guy had been followed by these coppers for some time. What made them think he was a bomber? We could all be bombers! It's not just the terrorists we have to watch out for! Joanne "so if I was in that situation, and had him completely restrained I would have simply arrested the guy" Allison -

This may not be the bestest place to ask this, but I'm hoping someone can come up with an answer (and since Robb seems to know all, I'm hoping to tap into that). I'm trying to import programming from my DVR to burn onto a DVD (for the record, it's the first season of Robot Chicken - I want to share the love with my non-cable having friends). I'm having a heckuva time trying to figure out what to use and how to use it. I've been trying to use Nero for it, but most of the compression options end up with marginable to downright cruddy results. Most of the MPEG-2 compressions result in good video, but bad bad bad audio. The Windows Media 9 compression was awful all around. I did a pure uncompressed AVI file once, but the 12 minute show ate a whopping 16 GB, and that's just nuts (granted, we've got around 175 gig free on that hard drive, but that s*** is bananas). I don't know much as far as the compression options for AVI files, but so far everything I've tried has been extremely poor, choppy quality. I guess I can just bring it in as an uncompressed AVI, then use Premiere Pro to export it out to a movie file, but that seems like a heckuva lot of double work for what seems like it oughta be a simple task. If anyone has any advice on how to do this, I'd hella appreciate it. I'm using a straight coaxial for the transfer, which is not the greatest quality in the world, but it works well enough for me. And if you haven't watched any Robot Chicken, I pity you.

Now they have said this guy was BRAZILIAN and had NOTHING to do with the bombs! I live in such a cool country! (not) That poor guy. How must his family feel? We now deserve anything we get. This country disgusts me....... -
Saw "Wedding Crashers" with ^. It was good. It was really funny in parts, although in some parts it did go a little slow in my opinion. It was cute though, a good date movie. Kristi " saw some good previews too!!" C.

When we went to see this last night, all I could think about at certain parts was seeing Robb and Gregg's faces. Kristi " was laughing at the wrong time!" C. -

Sir Clinksalot replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
Mmmm, my favourite Pukka Pie pie filling is Chicken and Mushroom. As for pies in general, I LOVE PORK PIES !!!!!!!!!!!! I hate Cheese and Onion filling in Pies and Pasties as I'm not that keen on cheese. -
A couple of new pics have been released on the official forums in the Friday Wild! Screens thread by David Braben. Further down that thread he also commented that they are thinking of adding new coaster pieces to the existing coaster types! Which for me at least is a great move, Wild! so far looks like it's going to offer quite a bit. With the showing of some carnival type flatrides (Ring of Fire and Giant Wheel) as well as at least ONE new coaster type, new coaster pieces for existing ones and the whole Safari/Zoo aspect. There should be something for everyone, like with Soaked! People complain that frontier are making an Animal Expansion, but realistically what else could they have done ? Darkrides and Midway Games (both requested an awful lot) aren't big enough to base an expansion around, but maybe there'll be elements of those in Wild ?

In the last few weeks or so, I've noticed lots of comments about pies. What is your favourite pie filling? Is there one you hate? My favourite pie is good old Pukka Pies from an English Chippy. You can't beat their Beef and Onion and Chicken and Mushroom. I hate Steak and Kidney because I hate kidney. It's gross!

Mmmm, why've you just copied and pasted the Everything You Can Know On: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Wild! post from Atari Community by :Go_Go_Go_RCT3: ? Besides that, there was a thread already started about Wild!, couldn't you just add a link to the new pics in there ? Other than that, What else could they make an expansion about that would follow from Soaked! ? Darkrides and Midway games aren't big enough for a whole expansion based around them. Now people appear to be getting some decent Carnival flatrides as well as new coaster types and new track pieces for existing coasters, AS WELL as Animals they still complain. There is just no pleasing some people

That really sucks, especially when you have the kids in the car. Luckily nobody got hurt. Hopefully he didn't force somebody off the road further down after he passed you. Gregg "Probably an American Import" C.

Just got back from seeing Wedding Crashers. Pretty funny movie, had a bit of everything. Love story for Kristi, boobies for me. Can't go wrong with that.

GTA: San Andreas Now Rated 'Adults Only'!
Sir Clinksalot replied to Meteornotes's topic in Random, Random, Random
hehe, no worries, it took me a few minutes to write it too (I REALLY need to keep my posts to a maximum length of 6 lines ) This whole thing is getting way out hand... hopefully the media will get bored of this whole subject and move onto something important, like a ratings system for Books/Magazines. -

1. RCT3: Wild! (Currently scheduled for Oct 24th) Hmmm, you obviously aren't a reader of the official forums Nearly everyone is complaining like heck about the fact that it's a safari/zoo expansion!!! I love the idea myself. It will be MUCH less complicated than Zoo Tycoon, if it's more then select animal and drop I will be surprised. I'm looking forward to the new rides as well as the animals. It's going to be great !!! 2. The Movies This looks really cool, I can't wait to see how this pieces together in the end. I'm so jealous that Robb is testing it !!!! 3. Animal Crossing 2 I really can't wait for this, Animal Crossing was such a REALLY cool game, especially for obsessive collectors like me !!! I really was expecting to find it dull but I loved it !! 4. The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess This just looks great and Zelda games are always cool. And the Katamari thing has passed me by completely although EVERYONE says it's cool. I'm not even sure if it's had a European release! I'm sure there are others, Elissa's post reminded me of Movies and AC2.... -
GTA: San Andreas Now Rated 'Adults Only'!

Well, I wouldn't say I'm bewildered by it. It is pretty much the same in this country with regards to sex being considered worse than violence. It's more that I'm surprised at the furore this has caused, you could argue that GTA deserved an AO rating from the beginning. Jack Thompson, the most vocal anti-games attorney in the States is seeing this as a victory and has now moved his sights onto The Sims, saying that the nudity and content is perhaps worse than even San Andreas which is completely absurd. Which considering there is no nudity in San An even with the mod, makes his claims even more absurd. I do think that The Sims 2 deserves an M rather than a T rating, purely because of WooHoo (Even though you don't SEE anything)... but the accusation that Jack is making about there being Full-Frontal Nudity in the Sims 2 is laughable... Jack Thompson has been fighting anti-game cases for years, he was the one that clamed DOOM trained people to kill. Then a few weeks later Columbine happened and "PROVED" his point. Even though it's complete rubbish, DOOM trains people to kill about as much as Rollercoaster Tycoon teaches you the engineering skills necessary to build a coaster. This whole thing is getting out of hand. Here is the article regarding the Sims 2 at Gamespot. -
GTA: San Andreas Now Rated 'Adults Only'!

I can't imagine Hillary Clinton playing San An! Jeez it's all pathetic. I guess the sleazy shops you talk about are the ones we have here that sell VERY adult material! (which I don't go in!) And now I've just read that they are gonna start picking on Sims 2. Maybe the woo hoo stuff is a bit much for a 13 year old, I dunno. The disappointing thing here is that these are GAMES. Games are supposed to be fun. People need to realise that adults enjoy playing, and some games are made just for them and they should be sold where other games are sold. I guess Hillary C thinks all games should be for kids? -

Well, I guess most people who wanted the game will have already bought it, if not maybe you can buy it online? Are there no shops selling it? I find that crazy. Do your shops sell 18+ movies? I couldn't live somewhere that crap and messed up....... Joanne "I'm now glad I live in the UK" Allison -

Sir Clinksalot replied to Meteornotes's topic in Random, Random, Random
To be fair though, Rockstar have made more than enough profit from the PS2 version alone to cover costs and expenses on the XBOX and PC release. And if Rockstar do re-issue an M rated version then what's the problem ? As to the whole AO rating thing, in the UK it has always had an 18 rating and it's never been a problem, in fact, the UK arm of Wal*Mart, ASDA has never had a problem selling 18 rated games/films. The fact that major chains won't stock AO games in the US is a shame especially as the difference between M and AO is only 1 year? But at least you can still buy it online. In all honesty I find it a bit hard to believe that the content of the minigames (which is to be honest absolute crap and you can really understand why they disabled it ingame) was enough to push it from an M to an AO. Especially as in one mission there is a cutscene where you hear sexual content although you don't see it. I can't believe that there is much difference as even in the Hot Coffee scenes it's only suggested stuff, there isn't any nudity and the animation is really crap. So hearing sex stuff is acceptable for an M rating and so is running people over, shooting people, all the gang content, heck even the drugs (although the game is VERY anti-drugs) but seeing people clothed doing rough approximations of sex isn't ? If that is the case then there is much more at fault here than Rockstar not taking code out. The whole US ratings system is slightly messed up if that's true. *Latest News*: Take Two may face investigations from the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission after the company reduced its Q3 revenue guidance by $40 million in the wake of the Hot Coffee scandal." : GamesIndustry.biz -

Then surely the problem is with the retailers, not the game or the rating? I've just been shopping to Tesco, a major british supermarket chain, and there were lots of copies for sale. In my town, (which is really small), there are at least five shops that sell San Andreas, and that is with an 18+ rating! -

its always been 18+ here in the UK so i dont get all the whinging about it being 18+ in the US now. And I don't think it has been banned has it? It's a great game and I love it, over here we deal with it having an 18+ rating like adults.
