RCT Roller Coaster Challenge
Sir Clinksalot replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You don't need RCT3 to participate in the coaster challenges/contests. We are trying to encourage players of any RCT to get involved, if you still use RCT1 you can still participate, just save a coaster design that meets the conditions. If you use RCT2 or 3 just use the coaster designer to create a coaster that meets the conditions. -

That would be very cool. I don't have RCT3 though. -
RCT Roller Coaster Challenge

Hey Flyby, No actual challenge has been set yet, it's due to be officially started tomorrow complete with the full rules etc. But if you want to get practice in, these are the preliminary conditions: To design a rollercoaster using the Coaster Designer in any RCT (RCT1, RCT2 or RCT3 entries are allowed) that meet the following criteria. * Must fit within a 15x15 grid including the entrance and exit * Must be a regular Wooden Coaster, not ANY Wooden Variety (i.e. no Wooden Wild Mouse or Side Friction Coasters) * Must have an Excitement rating higher than 7 and an Intensity rating less than 8 These may be fleshed out a bit in the actual challenge but it's enough for if you want to get some practice in Edit: Clarified some parts of the post. -
Yep, once we announce the first challenge it will have a specific coaster type listed. I believe it's a straightforward Wooden Coaster, no mine train or anything like that, just the Wooden Coaster. Also, all the rules will be set out in the post as well as how people should submit their coaster/parks. But for those that want to get some practice in before the announcement, the basic conditions for the first challenge are: To design a rollercoaster using the Coaster Designer in any RCT (1, 2 or 3 entries are allowed) that meet the following criteria. * Must fit within a 15x15 grid including the entrance and exit * Must be a regular Wooden Coaster, not ANY Wooden Variety (i.e. no Wooden Wild Mouse or Side Friction Coasters) * Must have an Excitement rating higher than 7 and an Intensity rating less than 8 So there you go, go practice, I'm sure that me and crispy will have an official thread started with the complete rules for submission and entry very soon. Be warned, the conditions may change but that should at least give you eager beavers something to play with for practice.

Thanks for the comment Robb, it's much appreciated. Crispy and I don't mind doing it at all, I can't speak for crispy but I enjoy doing this kind of thing. I'm just working on some custom avatars as rewards for the winners. I've been pleasantly surprised by how positive in general the feedback for this is. It's nice to know that you support this ! Cheers, Pucechan

RCT Roller Coaster Challenge
Sir Clinksalot replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey Crispy, just thought I'd post, seeing as no-one else is! You know i'm interested! I've been practising and I am having a bit of difficulty in getting the excitment high whilst keeping the intensity low! It's driving me crazy, but it's fun! By, the way, I voted for "Yes that would be awesome" in case you were wondering! -
RCT Roller Coaster Challenge

As you know crispy, I'm all for it, I think it would give the Video Game forum a much needed injection as it can be fairly slow in there. I think some healthy competition is always welcome and can't do any harm. -
RCT3 expansions
Sir Clinksalot replied to Reon's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I don't necessarily think the expansions were BAD as such for RCT2, they just didn't add very much in the way of rides. Both Wacky Worlds and Time Twister adding a fair amount of scenery and scenarios but that was all. I think Frontier have learnt their lessons since the RCT2 days as the expansions seem to actually be EXPANDING the core gameplay in RCT3. Soaked! gave us waterparks as well as a fair amount of scenery, fixes and features that people have been requesting since RCT3 launched like Tunnels and quite a few UI improvements, especially staffing related. With Wild! it looks like Frontier are really trying to expand the core gameplay again, with the whole Animal angle finally enabling people to produce all-in-one parks. They seem to be making it another all-rounder expansion, with new flatrides, new coasters (2 prototypes seen so far), more scenery and the whole Safari/Zoo aspect. Wild! could be a huge disaster though although I seriously doubt it based on Soaked! All in all I'm looking forward to Wild! -
Celebrities and Athletes you've met...
Sir Clinksalot replied to SixFlagsTexas's topic in Random, Random, Random
When I worked at Target Mark Hammil (Luke Skywalker) came through my line. Also met Biv from Bel, Biv, Devoe. Met Joe Montana, Steve Young (when he was the backup quarterback) and Jerry Rice at 49ers training camp A LONG time ago. I have also met Howie Long and Bob Golic at SFMM. They used to do a sports thing during Spring Break. -

Ideally we'd make the parks/scenarios as identical as possible between RCT2 and 3 (at least as much as needed for a fair challenge) and then just have them to download. Then have a deadline and have people post the completed scenario/challenge for rating/voting. All the actual rules and stuff could be sorted out later, we just need to get a fairly good turnout of interest first. I imagine this to work similarly to how the Civilisation 3 Game of the Month contests are run at CivFanatics.com. I am really excited about this and will gladly help out with whatever is needed, scenarios/parks, graphics etc.

Yeah for the most part there shouldn't be any conflict, some coasters may be slightly different between the two games though (pieces etc.) but I can't see any reason why we can't have entries from both in the same competition. And yes it's a great idea, should generate a lot more interest in the Video Games forum as well as create some healthy competitive atmosphere. I'll definitely help out with Map/Scenario creation for either RCT2, RCT3 or Soaked! Let me know if I can be of service GREAT IDEA!

I had a step brother (he passed away) and he lived with us for awhile. I can remember one time he was in the living room and I was helping my mom do laundry and we put his clean underwear on our head and went out in the room and he was so mad....Another time we would have to clean up the fruit trees in the backyard and he and I hated that so much. He was the mean one, he would throw the rotten nectarines at me. Ah, the good ole days... Kristi "misses her brother very much " C.

The "Say Something Random" Thread

I am so glad this hell of a week is over. I am ready for the weekend! Kristi "bring on SFMM Sunday!!" C. -
Fair enough, I agree, they could probably have found a more interesting looking screenshot, and hopefully they will in following Fridays. But you have to remember that what people write can be taken a couple of ways depending on how they are read. It also depends a lot on where people are from, how well they know you etc. Just saying, "This looks freaking tacky." especially with the freaking, looks like a straight out attack and a comment meant not just as a troll but as a wholly negative statement. Single-line posts are rarely constructive unless in a poll-type situation. A little clarification would have made that post look a lot more mature and un-troll like.
