Kids Thrown Out Of Disney World
speedracer replied to Top Thrill Dragster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
New details shed more light on what went down. Sounds like they were indeed originally given a slap on the wrist, but insisted on continuing their grudge till 1am. Can't blame Disney one bit for their zero tolerance policy in this situation: http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd071217mg -
Me too! SFMM is really missing out on great opportunities here. For all the pain and suffering Psuklone and Flashback subjected it's riders to, they should allowed us all to at least enjoy viewing the the demolition. Too bad they didn't take my original suggestion for Psuklone, but could still do a Flashback vs. Robosaurus!

In order for kids to develop tolerance and acceptance, as Eric pointed out, it all begins at home. Kids learn by example, as long as there are hateful ignorant bullies in charge of raising children, there will unfortunately always be hateful ignorant children. No ones saying to kick him to the curb, but as you well know, bottom line is many parents just don't give a crap how their kids behave. So unless you can change that mentality from the root cause for every bully in the world, your only option is to arm him with the best defense possible, knowledge and awareness of how to deal with bullies.

This one really creeps me out, total Pedo-Claus! Blasted and baked!

Really nice pics, Tivoli and Copenhagen look extremely beautiful. On my list of must see places before I croak. -

A question about coasters and health
speedracer replied to digidude18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was going to mention that, B:TR is one sucker punch of powerful g's after another, still one of my most favorite coasters ever. Whereas Top Gun gives you a breather inbetween elements, (still pulls 4.5 g's in the helix finale though!), but it's not one after the other like on B:TR. Combine that with hot weather and/or dehydration and it's understandable. -
Parks close to airports
speedracer replied to Looty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Can then catch the airport shuttle to the light rail, which has a stop across from CGA, pretty convenient. -
Nope, seems like B&M no longer designs their zero-g with that snap roll to them. Now they're more like a big spread out corkscrew roll, you can totally see and feel the difference between Scream's and Medusa West's, or B:TR's and SB's. One just gradually floats up and gracefully flips over, the other whips you around that inline spin and out of your seat like a rag doll. The layout and now this video remind me of a sit down version SB, looks big and scary, but actually family friendly and most likely forceless. Good for the park and GP, family friendly is the way to go now and avoids the park having to add trims later to tame it down for the GP. But nothing like the old school forceful B&M's that are allowed to run the way we enthusiast love.

I agree, really beautiful pics, love the colors. Love your office view too, lucky! OT, hope you don't mind, for those of us that won't be able to see the Castle Lighting in person, just beautiful!

WDW Rumor: Space Mountain Mission 2
speedracer replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I really like the new efx and smoother ride of DL's, I really miss the little pops of air you used to get on the upswings in the front row. Was really disappointed the airtime was purposely designed (or trimmed?) out of the new version, but a smoother, less abrupt ride experience for the GP is what they were probably going for. Have a bad feeling they may do the same for WDW's too. At least they kept the strong +G's on the lower track, one of my most favorite finales of any coaster. -
^ Thanks for posting all the event info, really is much more expansive than I thought it would be. Figured they'd only do small sections of the park, not the entire park! Very cool, will have to find the time to make the trek. I agree about Taz at night too, looks like a spinning flying saucer from a distance with all those bright lights underneath.

PTR: Gilroy Gardens 11/17/07
speedracer replied to speedracer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for all the great comments guys, really appreciate it. Sean's right though, pics don't do this place justice, absolutely stunning in person. ^^ mindvirus, you keep your "weird feelings" away from my Circus Trees! ^ Luckily GG isn't owned by CF, they just inherited the management contract from Paramount, which expires next year. Looks like the city is one step closer to going forward with the park purchase, whether they renew their contract with CF has yet to be determined: http://www.gilroydispatch.com/news/contentview.asp?c=230001 -
Never ridden myself, but as warped and twisted as this is, may be the best of the Anton shuttle loops: http://www.rcdb.com/ig818.htm?picture=1 As much as I love Monte, I still miss the intense rush I used to get going backwards through the loop on Tidal Wave. I know the rides are suppose to be identical except for the launch, but I just don't get that same buzz going backwards through Monte's loop. Maybe the loop on the 1st generation counterweight ones were more circular or something. Hard to explain, maybe it's just me, but the intense rush/buzz I used to get from TW isn't there on Monte, weird.

Gilroy Gardens surprised us with a bonus weekend last week, so I figured I'd take a last visit and get some fall shots in. Unfortunately due to a hang over, got there late, so I apologize for the darkness of some of the shots. Most of the fall colors showed up ok anyways (who says we don't have seasons in CA!). Not any coaster shots in this TR either, just not many since the 2 rides are buried so far off the paths. If you're looking for pics of GG's coasters, better off checking out my Spring TR here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34807&highlight=gilroy Not even gonna try to compete with great TR storytellers like Chuck and others around here, so I'll let the beautiful trees tell the story of my fall visit: Really love GG's entrance, one of the most beautiful of any West coast park: Coyote Lake: Good wood! Shroom: Difficult to take a bad pic in a park this nice, just point your camera in any direction and click! The dockside ho hiding in the above pic (crates stacked on the very far left): Usually all the leaves make it impossible to get a clear shot of the entire wheel: Hey BeemerBoy: Random park shots: One last pic, hopefully the replacement sign will show up next season. Happy Turkey Day everyone, thanks for checking on my TR. John

Nice pics, thanks for the preview. Was passing through Vallejo last night and boy, does that ginormous tree stand out from the I-80! Just one giant tower of lights, you just have to look over and gawk. Plus Kong looked all cute with xmas lights on the lift hill, can't wait to check it all out.

Interesting Bigfoot Rapids concept art
speedracer replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Wish I knew how, just copied it from the website linked above, hopefully someone else who knows how can. I'd also love to see the details, looks like we would have had a very different front half of KBF. -
The Nut Tree (Vacaville, CA)
speedracer replied to Team Thriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Did a TR last year of opening weekend: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30334&highlight=nut+tree Suppose to have a holiday thing going on, so will most likely be doing another visit myself soon. -

Then you'd probably get a kick out of this if you haven't seen before: This was obviously the expansion plan prior to the CF takeover since none of the CF additions are shown. Also note the smaller GR layout originally proposed. http://www.vertexproductions.com/knotts.php -
Click on this linked pic for the larger file to view much more details: http://coastercrew.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=109&pos=158 LOVE all the low to the ground track, are obviously going for a high speed out of control feel to it, a good contrast from Roar's airless tall hills. The tower wraparound should be spectacular, both visually and physically (think of BTMRR's goat trick, just on a much bigger scale!). Hopefully designing around the Imax building means something big is planned for that in the future.

Can see a model from IAAPA of what the lift mechanism for Max RPM will be like: http://www.coastercrew.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=109&pos=51 On a related note, SoCal may be the location of the next HRP, the second of more HRPs possibly in the works: http://www.ocregister.com/news/park-chivas-santa-1919698-golf-course They would be smart to locate near DL, especially with the multi-billion dollar resort-wide expansion coming.
