Quite the optical illusion! "Find Alice sleeping in the grass." My eyeballs did a few rotations before I found her! Alice -

This has been one of the 'most FUN' trip reports. I can't stop looking - and SMILING - at your amazing array of photos!! Makes me want to head to Atlanta ASAP! Looks like you had a short-but-oh-so-sweet weekend. Thanks a million for sharing! Alice (P.S. Looks like the Alice-in-Wonderland topiary is missing its "ALICE." Wonder if they're casting?? -
I am as green with envy as Gelatoni -- for all things Japanese! But perhaps what cracks me up most is its stuffed animal culture! So here is a REAL serious question: when choosing your ShellieMays and Duffys et al, do you first examine the expressions on their little faces? How their little mouths turn up? Droll? Or innocent? Or perhaps all-knowing? I'd probably be in the shop for ages lining them up for comparisons. Then again, I AM ALSO partial to Elissa's 'slightly depressed-looking' Shrimp! That bland little mouth is so dang RIGHT for those certain mornings! So perfect to wake up to! Thanks guys for all these awesome photos! They are truly MUCH APPRECIATED! Alice

I've never been to Toverland, but it definitely defines what is so alluring to me about European theme parks. It's a world so unlike the parks we know in the U.S. In fact, dare I say, it takes Walt Disney's Fantasyland concept to a whole next level. Scrolling thru the photos, Toverland appears to be an enchanted one-of-a-kind place of fun and fantasy. Quite a journey! Thanks, A.J! Alice

All this delectable cheese chatter on the TPR Discussion Board must be pinging its way up cell towers from Orlando to NY's Upper West Side. Lo & behold, I popped into my fave local 'super deli' - Zabar's - and there, in a HUGE basket in the center aisle, was a humongous display of The Day's Special: Raw Milk RACLETTE! (Of course, these were the 'solid' sliced wedges....but still....melt some on toast and you have breakfast, lunch and dinner!) P.S. "Rodents and Raclette"....hmm...sounds like an Off-Off-Off Broadway play! 'Experimental' for sure! Alice -

Oooooh nooooo Mr. Bill! It's Action Park NJ all over again! Except that Action Park cliff jumping had NO supervision NOR any signing of waivers! As "Type A" adrenaline tweens, my twin & I just HAD to cliff jump from the highest point. (Let's just say it was a 'true training bra experience!!' The lower cliff dive was JUST FINE after that!) Alice (& Twin Lynn) -
I LOVED the Horn & Hardart Automat in NYC. Put in a few coins and you got the best little plate of mac 'n cheese or creamed spinach, or Lemon Meringue pie! (Funnily enough, I found out that the daughter of one of the original "Horns" lived in my building. But she was very shy so I never got up the guts to 'talk automats' with her.) Bravo SMISTY for indulging in a bit of Dutch raw herring! When I first was in Amsterdam, I swore I didn't want to try it. But my Dutch friends said my visit would not be complete without sampling a 'herring stand.' I took the challenge -- and it was much tastier than I imagined! (Tho Dutch sweets still come out ahead! ) Thanks Erik & Smisty for those great photos - and commentary! Alice

I cannot imagine a venue large enough to accommodate all those who had such regard for his talent!! Am so glad that you got to see so many of his treasures! Alice

Ooookay...SOMEONE had to ask this question so guess it is moi! "HOW is each boat emptied of water after its drenched passengers 'egress the bathtub??'"' "We are in the Bermuda Triangle; We are in the Bermuda Triangle; We are in the Bermuda Triangle; We are in the Bermuda Triangle..." Alice P.S. 'Funnest' video ever! -
HUH? Bwahahahaha! I MUCH prefer: "Good times and bum times, I've seen them all and, my dear, I'm still here." Sondheim's FOLLIES. And to anyone who loves theater and hasn't read 'Everything was Possible, The Birth of the Musical FOLLIES" by Ted Chapin (Production Assistant/Gofer) in 1971 as the show was actually made, PLEASE get a hold of this amazing book. I've never read a more honest, moment-to-moment account of the birth of a Broadway musical!!! NW -- I know that you, too, are a genuine fan of this book! Alice (who's read it 3 times and is looking forward to my 4th. "I'm still here!" )

Bravo for this new "ANIMALATED" film! May it be the first of many! Alice

Adam, I'm so glad that you had a chance to finish up your Grand Adventure with a visit to NYC - AND CONEY ISLAND! (And, yes, I too have lived to tell the tale of the scary fun of eating Nathan's raw seafood.) So much is gone of the 'old' Steeplechase, but at least the "Horse Race" is still running...albeit a little less "wild." Before it was redesigned, it was actually not easy to hold on to - it was so fast and curvy! (You may enjoy this old clip I found of the Steeplechase ride from the '20s. Before my time!! but it gives an inkling of the thrills that baby boomers could still experience!) Thanks for all your stories and photos. I totally enjoyed your "Grand European Adventure!" Alice

Impressive! But with all the inversions, rolls, twists, etc., does your head arrive at the station still attached to your neck? Or must you retrieve it at your fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo? Alice
