  1. You mean to tell me that THIS masterpiece wasn't in the Van Gogh Museum?!? Stunning omission! I guess you had to: 'Exit through the Gift Shop.' Thanks Chuck, for such an entertaining opening to your trip with TPR. Amsterdam, as you so well document, is a deliciously quirky place (altho the quirkiest thing I did there was probably eat herring from a street vendor....no Zabar's to be found!). It's been way too long since I've been to a great theme park, but your pix of Goliath and Lost Gravity made me want to "Get my motor runnin'.....Head out on the highway....Looking for adventure!" Etc. etc., Baby Boomers rule! I'm looking forward to all of your trip follow-ups -- your great photos and droll dialogue! Thanks. Alice
  2. Sorry for duplicate post. Not sure what happened.
  3. The best attraction @europa_park isn't a ride, it's our own personal Raclette Hut! Best theme park food EVER!!! Imagine! A world filled with all these gorgeous roller coasters. And THEN, your own Raclette Hut!! Be still my melting heart! Alice

  5. NRTHWND - I so totally agree with you!!! I HATE standard exercise, but even as an aging baby boomer, I LOVE adventurous activities. I can really see a park like Potts taking off among fun-minded adults. PLUS being a perfect way of keeping the body agile. Kick-scooters have caught on very big in the city, and taking mine down hills is a fun way of simulating skiing - my fave sport. Down with gyms! Up with adventure parks! Alice
  6. Many years ago, my twin sister and my mother did a tour of the Paris Catacombs, and they arrived so early that they were the only two people on the tour. They had a wonderful opportunity to see this eerie attraction in such an atmospheric 'silence.' I remember them saying that the chilling 'quiet' of the historic tombs totally enhanced their experience. So...I totally empathize with how a rowdy crowd could detract from your enjoyment of your tour there. By the way, one thing they ALSO experienced was the fun of a tour guide who was enjoying his favorite 'tipple' when they arrived. (And it wasn't a Starbucks!) He was in a GREAT mood and gave them a tour 'extraordinaire!") Enjoy the rest of your trip!
  7. Hi Elissa! UNIS is a great school! As a native NY-er (UWS), I've heard terrific things about it. How funny that you noticed the school amongst all these photos - GREAT photos I must add! Coney Island is my "home park," although I haven't been there in many years. I rode the Cyclone on its 75th anniversary. Rough but oh-so-memorable. And I was one of the last people to catch a ride on the Parachute Jump just before it sadly closed, many moons ago! What fun to see Andy's treasure of photos of the "new" Coney Island. I still long for "Steeplechase" - The Funny Place." It was AMAZING! (And to those who've mentioned that "creepy face" plastered over Coney Island, that face was the entrance to Steeplechase Park. My dream place to go as a kid. Sheer magic!)
