  1. The other main problem I've also seen is employees not even checking them on rides that it's nessecary due to design. Such as on that Tatsu dispatch, he just put 2 fingers on the OSTR and didn't push or pull, and since it's almost impossible to shut your restraint more than a click or two due to the ride's design, you are solely dependent on the op to actually secure your restraint. Like I'm 5' 1", so when a B&M flyer dispatches and I've barely had 1 click, it isn't secure, not unsecure to the point I'd fall out, but definitely unsecure. I was running to put 4 people's stuff away, but due to extreme congestion and a chaos filled station, I was running back to my seat and the foot pieces lock. But due to employees not caring, they were about to finish our row without fixing that. And before I get a snarky comment that I should have been faster or something like that, I counted 5 people on our train alone that had that problem, so I'm not sure if that's an oftenly occuring problem, but did it happen a lot from the 3 trains I was in, or saw from the station
  2. The main thing that I don't understand is why don't they actually put some effort into it if they're going to insist on checking/pushing down your restraint. I've seen countless times at Magic Mountain alone where they don't even push or pull on your restraint, they just lightly touch it, and then don't allow you to assist any further. Like when I was on Tatsu and the guy didn't even push on my restraint and I asked him to please click it till it felt snug, and he rudely replied: You're fine. Then when I asked again a bit more forcefully, he said: YOU'RE FINE!!! The main question that I did have with the start of this thread however, was, when did this whole idea start? Does anyone know of a major incident that happened that started the whole concept of having an employee check your restraint
  3. Long, Long ago in a galaxy far, far away, I one time heard that people weren't so sue happy and incompetent that'd parks would have to pay people to tug on their restraints. This makes me wonder about a couple things with restraint checks. When did the whole commonly practiced rule of having an employee tug (or barely touch if you're at SFMM) your restraint to see if it is closed, start? Why can't people compatently close their restraints to a secure place on their own (excluding rides like B&M Flyers where you do need assistance)?
  4. Hey, I saw this great forum on Reddit and I decided to bring it here so more people could see. Recently, I've been hearing pretty much everywhere that Six Flags's operations are greatly improved across the board. 3 minutes for Batwing, 2.5 minutes for Tatsu, 2 minutes for Green Latern, and other amazing things!! I've also seen it too, I went to SFMM and pretty much every ride was running 2 minute dispatches. I've heard the source of these improvements are removal of time consuming policies, such as double visual scans, and no more "double hand tugs" on the rides with OSTRs. Do you think their moving in a much better direction? Have you seen any of this? Lemme know!!! -Kenny aka Mr. Corn (still don't know why I chose that username lol)
  5. Hey everyone, My Grandma for her 80th birthday told me that she wanted to go to Knotts for her birthday and get some fried chicken and see Ghosttown. Being the Coaster Nerd I am, I couldn't pass up a trip to Knotts, but we will be doing all mild attractions. Here's a list of things I think we could hit up, and I wanted to see if anyone else had any other ideas: +Voyage to the Iron Reef +Calico Mine Ride +Mystery Lodge +Calico Railroad +Butterfield Stagecoach +Berry Festival +Stunt Show +Western Trails Museum +Red Schoolhouse/Blacksmith +Mrs. Knotts Fried Chicken I personally don't think I'll do any coasters, except maybe Boomerang as I don't think I'll get the chance to ride again. Any other suggestions?
  6. Personally, I do see Michigan Adventure's next coaster in 2018, but I think it'll be a Motobike Coaster (a clone of the one at Darien Lake), in addition to a Pipe Scream style ride or a Trokia. They said they want to keep it as a family park, so that way the thrill seekers go to Cedar Point and the younger kids go to Michigan's Adventure, so I don't actually see Boomerang going there. In Cedar Fair's opinion, they have a big steel coaster and a big wooden coaster, so I only see family coasters from here on out. I don't see any coaster "more thrilling" than Sierra Sidewinder ever coming to this park in the future unless they change the park's direction, which is rare.
  7. Knotts: Xcelerator- I LOVE the pink and blue, it fits the theme and area Coast Rider- Yellow+Light Grey= Good Color Scheme Boomerang- I like that it is different than the Red and Orange paint that has overtaken Knott's coasters, so it'd rank higher than at a park with more Diversity with paints Silver Bullet- In my opinion, it fits super well with the whole Ghost Town theme, but that's a VERY unpopular opinion Sierra Sidewinder- I feel like it pops and it looks nice, really, if I got to pick it's color scheme, I'd go for Dark Green and Brown, but that's just a me thing Timberline Twister- Looks nice, nothing much more Pony Express- It's ok, I'm not a huge fan Jaguar- Orange and Creme don't mix well, and it seems kinda drab. I think that ever having this ride was a bad choice, so the paint doesn't have Monte- EWWWWWWWW. The orange looks horrendous. You can't have a Rougasnooze paint job in a Mexican themed area, it just looks bad. If it was the yellow like before, it'd be really high up on the list. They took away really 1 of the 3 non Red, Orange, Yellow coasters at Knotts and repainted it so it doesn't fit and looks ugly. Why Knotts?! Why?! I do KNOTT like this new color scheme *pardon the pun* (I know I didn't include Ghostrider due to the fact that it isn't painted, if I had to it'd go in between Timberline and Pony)
  8. I choked on my wine a bit. Well be sure you still have some if you plan on going in the Darien Lake Thread soon
  9. Has anyone ever tried to steal your equipment?
  10. (I apologize for the double post) And several people have told me he's tried to get money out of them by claiming he's blocked them from visiting LC and they have to pay to get off the blocked list and he will give them free tickets to the park if you shout him out on IG. And if you think about it, he made a Google account under Jerry's name, a fake IG acting like Jerry's son, he stalked Caleb, Jerry's son, to the point where he has tens and tens of photos of him and his family, and has tried to get things outta people under this lie. I mean, he has photos of them on a hike, Caleb wrestling, Jerry/Caleb's family photos, them watching Caleb's wrestling stuff, and having that much personal stuff tricked me. Thank you so much for listening and please stay safe.
  11. Hi everyone, I really wanted to share my story so that way people can be aware that I was scammed. There is an Instagram run by this kid and he was acting like he was the son of Lake Compounce's GM, Jerry Brick. I kinda believed it, but it was just friendly chat through DMs so I didn't think much of it. He would always say he was the son of Jerry Brick and he knew what was up with the park. A month down the road and many talks later, he found my personal Youtube with my name, church (which I later edited out of everything on that page), and my personal email as I work as an actor in LA and people have hired me after seeing my reel before. I am seriously getting ticked at this point, but I still never really connected the dots (I'm just a kid, cut me some slack lol). I confronted him on why he then shared my info I don't want shared since I run a popular IG Coaster account and would rather not have all my fans know that stuff. Then the kid acted like gave his phone to Jerry, and then sent me lying, rude, and misspelled DMs trying to shove it under the rug obviously knowing if I went public, everyone would know he was a huge liar. This continued when he made a fake email under Jerry's name and tried emailing me acting like he was Jerry, and a fake IG account acting like he was Caleb, Jerry's son and Thomas's (the kid who ran the scam's) brother. Caleb is Jerry's son in real life and niether of them have a relationship with Thomas (the kid who ran the scam) by the way. I have a feeling something is really, really off at this point and tell him that I will be contacting the park to verify his relationship, it turns into a major blowout, and this is when I was almost 100% sure that it was a sham becuase Jerry is a very nice person and would never cuss me out or act like that. He then sends me concept art for "future additions" which I than ran by a friend and found they were from 2007, but I wouldn't have known that since I was young at that time and I wasn't an enthusiast. He then threatens (still under the guise that he's Jerry) to call Six Flags Magic Mountain and get my pass revoked if I don't apologize to his son for calling him a lair. I know it's a total scam at this point so I email the park, blocked the kid, posted about this publicly on my coaster IG, and I really wanted to let you all know so you can avoid this scame because I've heard from other people that he acted like he blocked them from visiting LC and they had to pay to be unblocked, and several people almost fell for this. I am really upset right now so sorry if it's a bit ranty-ish.
  12. Accidental double thread. My sincerest apologies, please delete
  13. Going on a TPR Trip is a privilage, Getting Behind the scenes look at stuff is a privilage, Getting ERT is a privilage, Getting to have so much fun riding a lotta coasters hanging out with other enthusiats is a privilage. You don't get any of that on a normal visit, so why do people complain when they get extras?! It blows my mind!!! I hope to get to WCB with GP Dad next year, and if at the last second one of the rides can't be open for ERT, why would people complain?! They're stilling getting extras!!!! If only one ride was open for TPR to go ride exclusively, that's one more ride than if you were just going alone. It absoleutly shocks me people complain if they think they don't get enough extras.

  15. Again, very sorry for the double post, my computer posted again instead of editing. Grrrr
  16. Hey everyone, So our biggest priorites when we visit tomorrow are Full Throttle, Twisted Colossus, X2, and Tatsu, and a non negotiable ride (like we have to do it) is Superman. I was thinking: Enter the park and do FT, then Tatsu, Superman, and TC. What order do you guys think we should do them in? And I don't want to go to X2 in the morning as we probably won't be there early enough to be the first in the gates and not have to wait for it/have a minimal wait for it
  17. Hi Everyone, I am heading to the park in the next couple days. How do you think the crowds will be? And also, I'm riding X2 for my first time!!!! What's it like? And do the restraints feel secure? Thanks! -@west.coast.coasters
  18. Q: What's the Joker's favorite inversion A: A stall.....

  20. So I have crafted a realistic 5 year plan for Valleyfair, I'd love to hear some feedback on it so let me know below!!! 2017: North Star and a family raft slide 2018: Hyper G-TX 2019: Planet Snoopy Expansion 2020: Carolina Harbor style Waterpark Expansion 2021: Mass Effect Style Ride Cost: 2017- $3mil for North Star + $1mil for a family raft slide ($4mil) 2018- $7.5mil for a Hyper GTX 2019- $1mil for a Planet Snoopy Expansion 2020- $6mil for a Carolina Harbor style waterpark expansion 2021- $3mil for a Mass Effect clone Cost per year: About $4 million dollars per year I'm not sure of the actual cost of the Carolina Harbor style expansion or the Mass Effect clone, if anyone knows the actual price of these, please comment. If you have any feedback, please comment it!
  21. Hey everyone, My name's kenny and I'm your average christian, surfer dude who loves theme parks!!! I mainly upload Southern California reports, but I occansionally have another post !!! My favorite wood coaster is Gold Striker at California's Great America, and my favorite steel coaster is full throttle in the back row, or twisted colossus!! Universal Studios Hollywood Rides Breakdown: Harry Potter <1x>: Really good Motion Simulator, and I truly believe the park didn't have so many other Motion Simulators, it'd stand out a lot more. Fun effects and No 3D!!! Flight of the Hippogriff <1x>: The airtime in the back left seat is supa good. Nice theming and thank God Universal decided to invest in a high capacity ride. I was the only person on one of the trains, and the other one had 3 people, yet they still ran two trains!!! Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem <1x>: A really well executed, light hearted ride that really shows what Universal Creative can do. This almost doesn't feel like a simulator, due to the fact that it's pretty gentle, and just a ton of fun The Simpsons Ride <1x>: A violently fun ride. The theming in the queue is pretty well done, and the whole backstory is super creative, yet simple and effective. As a watcher of the show, it did a very well job of bringing others who hadn't seen the show, as well as providing some hilarious easter eggs that made the ride just that more enjoyable Transformers: The Ride <1x>: While I absolutely hate Transformers: The Last Knight, this ride is pretty good. It has a high tech feel, and is much more realistic than any other simulator in the park. They did a supa good job with the animations, and overall I was impressed, it just took a couple rides to grow on me Studio Tour <1x>: I actually really enjoy the Studio Tour and think it's a great way to kick back for 45 minutes. The driver was funny, they got to the point on every part, Jimmy Fallon was well integrated, and overall, it was really well thought out, for adding an entergetic TV Talk show host into a world famous backlot tour Kong: Reign of Skull Island <1x>: This seperate part of the tour deserves it's own review. It doesn't have much 360* immersion, doesn't really have a preshow, but, the 3D was extremely well done and when you're looking directly at the screen, it does feel like you're in Skull Island. Fun little ride, however, making it its own attraction would give it more marketability and make sure that older folks can ride, as people who don't like motion simulators, like my mom, are starting to dislike the tour becuase of these Fast and Furious: Supercharged <1x>: I try to see the good in every ride, but I have no idea what the hell Universal was thinking when they built this. Completely innapropriate pre show for younger kids, as I could see the look of horror on their face seeing strippers in bikinis. They did a horrible job explaining the backstory to anyone who hadn't seen the movies (I had only seen 1 and was completely lost), and the entrance was very poor, however, I did hold out hope for the ride. We entered the car chase scene and it was so horrible I could hardly describe it. The jerky motions snapped my neck and I ended up freezing my neck and getting whiplash, I still don't understand Universal's obsessive love for water effects, and the animation was completely unrealistic and cartoonish. If I wanted to go sit in a giant video game, I would just save myself some money and go ride Voyage to the Iron Reef at Knotts Berry Farm. I was thankful it was over, and am extremely dissapointed in such a distasteful, low quality, and poorly placed simulator, on such a world class attraction in a world class park. Overall: The park was very good, the rides were even better, and the employees topped that. Fast operations, clean park, friendly employees, and fun rides. Too bad Fast and Furious: Supercharged is such a horrible attraction, but excluding that, it is really a great park. Honestly, it is a half day park as of now, and while Harry Potter has helped, it hasn't quite made it a full day park. I'd love for Universal to add a couple non simulator dark rides, and overall just give the park some time consuming attractions, as then I could honestly say it's a top 20 park in the world for overall experience. ------------------------------------------ (IMPORTANT EDIT: The original Trip Report was uploaded on December 28, 2016, and was very poor quality as it was my first ever trip report. This TR has recived a heavy overhaul and is much higher quality and fresher now after it's reupload on June 24, 2017.) ------------------------------------------ Pics: An artsy shot of a tree, what a way to start out a thread!! New York Street was all decked out for Christmas, which was pretty rad Just take some Allegra and the magical bottle will shoot out an extra escalator and moved l-o-c-k-e-r shop, and poof!! You now don't have any congestion Transformers: The Ride (Becuase obviously we wouldn't know it's a ride if you didn't tell us it was #StupidAmericans #ResultsOfCommonCore) Hasta Luego Universal!!!
  22. Adventureland became a destination park with just 1 cheap coaster. Valleyfail can't even manage that hat trick. Adventureland is not a destination park, what you need to realize is, Cedar Fair caters to the GP, not the enthusiasts. They will get the same attendance at Valleyfair whether they add a B&M Invert, a Gale Force clone, or a waterpark expansion, so Cedar Fair is going to go on the cheaper side of things, which is why you guys get good, but lower cost coasters like: Impulse Clones, GCIs, and other things like that. Actually what we get are 2 things: Jack and Squat So please, tell me about your awesome GCI, Hyper Coaster, Inverted Impulse, Classic Woodie, and your brand new Starflyer........ If you look at Valleyfairs attendance records, you will see that it remains roughly the same whether they add a huge new ride or not. So why dump the money into a large coaster when attendance stays the same, and therefore in-park guest spending stays roughly the same, and therefore the net profit stays the same. It makes no sense from a finicial standpoint to add a huge addition, when your profits won't change in any significant way, a smaller coaster (Like a Gale Force clone) would fill almost every "gap" that a $15 million more one would. A large coaster would probably hurt the park in the long run in my opinion, if they don't make any more money, but they spend an extra $15 million over a cheaper adult coaster, that's $15 million not being spent on the next couple years's: Kids land expansions, Waterpark additions, general upkeep. It makes no sense........
