  1. i'd personally love to see a steampunk mining type theme. build a giant gear with special effects that you walk through mimicking a portal, and have the entire land be themed around a steampunk mining town set in 2051. enjoy a acrobatics show, theme the swinging ship to some sort of grinding gears, and theme the rollercoaster to steampunk aviation. that would be fantastic - my personal prediction is a carnival area (which i'm not a fan of)
  2. the teaser shows a hawk... maybe they're teasing that cedar fair is purchasing the park??
  3. this is their 20 year plan for the waterpark, just predictions on where the stuff will go
  4. all these demolitions have gotten me thinking, what if 2019 is the waterpark expansion year, knock down the amphitheater, relocated the 2 kids rides (and demolish woodstock express), and expand the waterpark south so it's dry park on the left side, and water park on the right side: -throw the drop/tube slide complex on the go kart track -the mat racer in woodstock express's space -add a 2nd raft slide on the existing main slide tower -put the kiddie splash stuff on the space of the old amphitheater -throw a typhoon twister style ride over the logger's run (rip) lake -and have the water coaster wind all around the whole area with the station taking either the place of the 2 kiddie dry flat rides or stealth's old station with some minor changes to the slide tower steps. then throw a nice looking gate in the current entry plaza, and repaint every slide (and rename em all) and you got yourself a seriously good waterpark. and bonus points if they rename it to something like yankee harbor
  5. guys, lets just stop feeding the troll. he obviously is trying to get to react to the ridicoulous thought that six flags would install a helix that would barely add 6 seconds onto the ride. lets just not respond to whatever ridicoulous comment he'll reply to this and we can all move on with our lives. i sent a PM to larry, so well let him handle it - now back onto our normally scheduled discussion, does anyone know if they've released any plans/concept art for the new area?? i'm interested in seeing if its a beach, a boardwalk, or both like magic mountain!!
  6. So let me get this straight. The communications directer announces 300 extra feet of track. He says they are adding things to the layout. He then says two months later they are adding turns. There are marked small blocks of wood placed recently(I know this because they aren't painted but they would be if they were already there because they used paint sprayers which can't pain fine details). RMC always places ledgers on small wood blocks as the bolts don't come until hey are almost ready for testing. Tracks are placed on ledgers. I spot these blocks in images on this board on the structure of the third lap. I am now a troll for coming to the logical conclusion that there will be a third lap. That's about as illogical as it gets! since there was a lot of information flying around saying that these mystery additions would add 300ft onto the ride length 300ft - 15ft for additional banking changes 285ft - 60ft in maneuver changes to add track to connect the airtime hill/turn to the helix then we're left with 220ft of track left for the helix, that means that using the formula ((t/3.14=d)x6/5t)= helix, we can assume that said proposed helix would have a diameter of 70ft. This means that each 1/4 of the helix uses roughly 35ft of track to travel forward in the circle, and when we use the formula (220ft/4)-35ft, we are left with 35ft to adjust the angle of the turn (aka turning). Then after calculating the latitude based turns, we can figure out that to have a perfect circle, the train has to travel roughly 58ft to complete 1/4 of the helix. Therefore, based on the 232ft, which is over the projected 220ft added for the helix (but close enough), we can come to the conclusion that the width and "height" of the helix is roughly 2/3 the size of a baseball field, which is EXTREMELY small. Then, to go further, if we assume that the train is traveling 25mph throughout the helix, which is a fair assessment based off the animations, we can say for 25mph = 36 feet per second, meaning that 232ft/36ft= roughly 6.5. this means that if this hypothetical 220ft helix was added, it would add a mere 6.5 seconds onto the ride time, and that's not even adding in the extra speed gained from a coaster train which is much heavier than an everyday car used in the calculations. now let's ask ourselves, would six flags really invest all this extra money and time to add 6 seconds onto a ride that would not only kill the pacing, but increase maintenance, increase construction costs, push the construction deadline even further, and not provide anything to the ride experience. and that's not even including the fact that honestly, the attraction is stronger without it, and there's no marketability in having a helix vs. not having one. the answer to that is no. so therefore, you're wrong You forgot to include the 30.ft reduction in height of the second turn. In fact, all of the structure (except the drop, break run, and station) has been lowered drastically. Using slope ( or half moon equation) we know these reductions in height should leave more than 150.ft, so you are wrong. Try again! i'm not sure what you're trying to say here. if the coaster was 100ft long, it goes to 400ft (under the +300ft notion that has been widely discussed), if the coaster is 2400ft, it goes to 2700ft. SFOG announced a length that i don't even know, as it has no bearing on the case i just made. no matter the height, length, or ride time of the previously announced RMC, if the ride receives an additional helix like you're claiming, it will be roughly 232ft long and will add about 6.5 seconds to the ride time. have fun trolling

  8. while i'm perfectly happy with what i think it's going to be (couple different banks, maybe a newly formed airtime hill with a touch of theming), if there was one extra thing i could add, it'd be for them to reprofile the turnaround over the lift. it's currently a not too steep hill, followed by a flattening out of said hill, into the turnaround. i think that they have a beautiful moment of crazy ejector air there that's simply going to be thrown away. turn the not too steep leadup hill into a twisting double up, turn the flat section into a dip so you get some ejector, and then possibly bank the turn a bit more to make it feel like you're going to fall out. really, this entire project looks fantastic, and retheming an entire area of the park is just the cherry on top
  9. so now mt. olympus has 1 less eyesore (with free demolition) and they won't have to pay all 2 maintenance workers currently on the payroll anymore. suspicious much??
  10. first dive coaster that THREE enthusiasts won't complain about for being "too forceless"??
  11. and nobody believed me when i said beach boardwalk would looked mitchmatched and uglyyyyy - (especially when you consider this is in addition to a patriotic color schemed Johnny Rockets, plus a sky blue and tangerine neon orange giant swing, blue and yellow bumper car attraction, accompanying brick planters scattered throughout the area)
  12. random question that won't make the thread fall into despair and chaos (like asking about Cuda Falls, Gerstlauer Spinner for 2014, or Batman: The Escape) what "land" is Tantrum in?? does anyone know if they'll do an area revamp to accompany Tantrum?? Rowdy Ridge looks pretty solid, and that Boardwalk area looks absolutely fantastic and really freshen up the park, so I'm really hoping that they will redo the area!!
  13. “i agree” -Hard Rock Park
  14. wait!! is the Beach Boardwalk area going all the way down to Jet Stream?! that'd be really cool, but that's a fairly large and thin stretch to keep a theme going after the main section
  15. well I think this pretty much confirms that Scrambler will be included in the new Beach Boardwalk themed area. Bayside Scrambler?? - (although i'm confused on why a beach themed attraction is going to be half way into Metropolis, a revamp is always great, so no complaints here!!) credit: greatamericancoasters.org
  16. Just saw a Crazanity update on greatamericancoasters.org, one thing to note, Sand Blasters is behind a construction fence and demolition on the giant ugly wall barrier is now starting. But interestingly, the fence is also covering Scrambler, yet no plans for any sort of refresh was included for that in the press release or concept art (while the space between the 2 rides would definitely be big enough to have Scrambler run during the Sand Blasters overhaul). Anyone else think that Magic Mountain has decided to give Scrambler a fresh coat of paint and some upgrades to not be an eyesore with Beach Boardwalk?!
  17. No. I'm just saying that I have 100% COMPLETE confidence in the guy who "leaked" it on Instagram. As his rock solid proof is a supposed phone conversation from someone who works at Liseberg who told him that Kanonen was replacing Stinger. Of course this wasn't leaked until after Stinger's closure when people realized Kanonen would fit snuggly in it's spot, and it was over the phone so there's no evidence of it, and the "leaker" decided to tell it to a small Instagram page that I don't think has ever been to the park instead of a ginormous page like Theme Park Review or Coaster Force. But it's legit!! Trust me
  18. Just saying, not sure if anyone agrees with me, but I'm 99% confident that Dorney will be getting Kanonen from Liseberg, not only due to the fact that it'd be dirt cheap and it'd fit nice and snugly in Stinger's spot, but because Cedar Fair just went on a ride salvaging tour of Europe, and I'm predicting that Liseberg knew this and sent them a heads up to come check out Kanonen incase they wanted it, which I'm predicting they did because it'd be quite the bang for their buck
  19. Also, couple things to note from a friend who's at the park today (sorry for the double post): -Completely agree on the parking lot trash cans, they look horrible -New signage is currently going up at the front of the park, no work on the metal cage or ticket booths has been seen -Ninja's line is spilling out of the 2nd extended queue and is roughly 140 minutes (provided they're having 2min dispatches) -Justice League's line is just barely coming out of the sign, and is just a touch under an hour line -Bumper Cars queue line is starting to fall apart... literally -Twisted Colossus is back to 3 trains -No confirmation but supposedly they pulled VR on The New Revolution because of the ridiculously long line -No further work on Crazanity has been seen Just a prediction but park closing hours are probably going to be pushed back an hour due to insane crowds EDIT: Goldrusher has a line, crazy stuff people
  20. I see Metropolis as a really solid themed land that needs more shade, but is a drastic improvement over The Movie District. It has a solid dark ride, a really fresh looking standup coaster, and a great BBQ place, with some awesome landscaping. Certain people see Metropolis as a not-completely immersive themed land that is a small improvement over The Movie District. It has a solid dark ride that could be solider, a fresh looking standup coaster that could look better with new decals on the trains, a great BBQ place that could have faster service, and some landscaping that could be swapped out more often. I tend to look at how much that section the park has improved over it's previous incarnation, when some people tend to look at what the land could be and how it's not meeting that. End fact, Magic Mountain has maintained it's new lands very well. Magic Mountain rethemes the sections to the best of their ability with the budget their given. Metropolis got: -Brand spankin' new dark ride that WASN'T a clone -Major overhaul to one of the park's largest coaster's paint scheme with brand new paint -Almost brand new entrance to Riddler's Revenge -Repaint and Rebuild of 3 restaurants plus an adjoining food court area with new tables, chairs, and umbrellas -Repaint/Retheme/Rebrand of the BBQ into a nicely themed Metropolis restaurant -Destruction of the complete eye-sore gas station -Rebuilt planters with very nice landscaping -New concrete flooring throughout the land -Entirely new upscale eatery with gazebo bar including a stage for live entertainment -Repaint and maintenance to Riddler's building facade and "set" pieces And when you exclude the small Coca Cola labels on the umbrellas in the food court, they took out all the advertisements in the entire land so that way the theming is immersive and consistent. So if you want to say Magic Mountain isn't maintaining their park over gravel instead of plants in a queue that's been filled a handful of times a year, you're not enjoying all the work they did. While enthusiasts always want brand new stuff, why spend all the money to build a really nice extended queue, when they could reuse an already existing structure with new paint and a shade canopy. Instead, please complain about something that actually is an issue like Ninja's station (which will continue to remain nice looking once it gets it's big overhaul, just like Full Throttle Zone)
  21. I don't think you read the post above you. The guy above literally just said that Jeffery Siebert confirmed that it would not be Justice League and will instead be something themed to the Boardwalk area. 1- That isn't Justice League: Battle for Metropolis 2- It is themed around the boardwalk I don't think you read my post
  22. Due to the quick turnover, I predict a rehashed attraction, not a tear it all down and build something new inside the building style dark ride. I'm predicting a rethemed Scooby Doo dark ride under the name of something like Suicide Squad: Battle for Fiesta Bay Boardwalk. Due to the fact that the park closed it down just this past spring to give it a constantly loading platform, I would infer that it'll use the same ride vehicles and will follow along the same track. You'll essentially drive around the Fiesta Bay Boardwalk with the Justice League shooting the Lexbots and Suicide Squad characters trying to destroy the themed area. This way it'll fit in, it'll have a popular IP worked in (Hey! They made Batman work flawlessly in the 50s section) and it will bring them a new attraction. All I can definitively say is that it'll use the same cars, on the same track, will somehow work an IP into the section, and will probably be lots of screens with some connecting sets to lower the build time, as they only have about 5 months. I could be all wrong, and I'm expecting I will be, but that's just my take
  23. These discussions got me thinking, with the "whole family" direction that the park seems to be headed towards, what if for the park's 50th anniversary, they did a SFGAd War on Lines style move and put family/thrill flats all around the park. Imagine the fantastic marketing that could be promoted with... For Magic Mountain's 50th anniversary, we will be introducing 15 new rides in the park!! So whether you've been here 1 time, or 100, prepare for a full day of custom new experiences including the all new... "New Cyclone Bay whatever the name is!!" Now, at the thrill capital of the world!! - (however, realistically, I never see that happening)
  24. We have to give credit where credit is due, Screampunk District, DC Universe, Full Throttle Zone, and several other refurbished areas still look absolutely amazing years after they were redone. If they weren't keeping up with the lands, why does Screampunk's spiral by the entrance consistently get repainted, how come the landscaping in TC's queue is constantly being replaced, and how come the special theming in DC Universe keeps being repainted and replaced? If we compare Movie District vs. Metropolis, aesthetics wise, Metropolis is so much better. Screampunk District vs. Colossus County Fair, Screampunk District looks much nicer and feels much more fresh and updated. Something to note, the ads are now a lot less invasive in the new areas it seems, Six Flags has really tried to keep to the theme of the sections, and not put ads all over the place (like the Got2BeGlued covering the entire side of the Magic Moments theater), and instead they've made them more suddle, such as a Cola pattern on an umbrella with Coca Cola written on the flaps in Metropolis. It comes down to would you rather have the entire park looks outdated and rundown, or very vibrant and modern areas with a couple small spots that could use some work. On another note, was Bonnie overall a good GM? She seemed like a very bad people person according to a lot of employees and TPR people, but she did breath new life into a lot of the park. In my opinion she was a very smart business woman who put a lot of attention into the details, but it seemed like she improved things only for the public's eye, and none of the employees got their feedback or voices listened to. You also didn't see her walking around with a trash sweeper having guests point out what needed to be fixed and then fixing it. Just curious
