TR: Kings Dominion 8/11
Lenaapple1974 replied to xVicesAndVirtues's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OH MY! You can keep the Crypt! OUCHIE!! lol. Very odd that they blocked everything off. I was there almost two weeks later at the same time, and we walked straight from Dominator (after riding it 3x in a row - definitely an awesome coaster!!) back through to Volcano no problem. I have to say, the park was sooo empty, and they were cycling the trains very fast. We never waited more than two trains for any ride other than Volcano. We were done by 3pm, riding everything more than once each. Downside is that it was super hot. OH, and the girls at the food place by Intimidator would not sell us the red cup! They said they were not allowed, but then I saw loads of people with one! So we got stuck with yellow. (Would you know why by chance?) Oh well. I agree, CP should definitely invest in the same restraints that i305 has for Maverick. i305 was great though, although I think I prefer MF's layout more. I need to ride them again, and again.... and again... One day I may figure it all out! Your top is also the same as mine, not in that particular order, since I have yet to ride Superman, eh, uh...I mean Bizarro...but hopefully soon. Can't wait for the pics!! -
PTR: East Coast Bash and beyond
Lenaapple1974 replied to WillMontu's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I have been on El Toro in the pelting rain, and that was not a great feeling. I could not imagine rain on i305! It is a great ride though. That greying out was a weird sensation... but I got over it quick. My daughter and I are determined to figure out why that happens and if there is anything we can do to solve it, or make it less. Breathing was our first technique...but as I get over the lift, I completely forget what I was doing...Still don't know if I breathe right on the way through the first hill! lol -
I always wanted to eat at that cafe... I guess I will not be doing that. I cannot picture my hubby waiting on all those lines just to be seated so much later than told. Looks ultra cool though! The wax figure things...how much are they? Sounds like a cool idea! I love those animals...I might have to get one of each! BGT has some of the best rides for sure. I cannot wait to go next summer!

Well, how bad can it be? You are here to post that picture after all. I suppose they just use food coloring in the eggs, right? -

Erik, yet another wonderfully colorful PTR! You know I always love 'em! It is like I don't have to take pics on my next visit because you surely covered EVERYTHING! (Yeah, OK, me not take pictures when away is like humans not needing oxygen to breathe) The last time I was there, I tried to take my time and look at everything and take detailed pics, but I feel like I missed something now. -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
Lenaapple1974 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Top ten huh? After this summer, I now have three more parks under my belt, and feel like I am able to say that I can join in this conversation, finally! Just a note... those who think Apollo's Chariot is great...You NEED to ride Nitro! lol. I personally haven't gotten over to SFNE, although that is planned before the season is over, so my top may change. I hear Superman, cough...eh... uh..Bizarro is best. I also love inverts, but Alpengeist was really just eh for me. Very rough this past week, in the front, in the back...eh. Not my fave. I have not been on TTD or KK yet. I had this fear of heights...but they are most certainly next on my list! 1. Nitro 2. MF 3. El Toro 4. Kumba 5. i305 6. Maverick 7. Stormrunner 8. Griffon (have yet to ride Sheikra) 9. Manta 10. Batman: The Ride (SFGAdv) Special Honor: Dominator (KD) This ride was nothing special, just super fun...we rode it so many times. It did not have the "shake" I have heard people complain about. -
I would also like to know what smug boy did to the gal... >:O Enjoyable read Tyler! I had no idea what was going to happen next.

For the season passes, now, up until maybe Feb maybe March they will be at their cheapest. Grab em if you can ASAP. Then they go up about $10 every month after that. Sign up for their notifications, and you should get the info prior to the changes. OR, if you noticed the Big Six Pass was there for this year (it should be next year then), that is only about $10 more than the normal admission fee, and it lets you go 6 times. Completely worth it if you get stuck not buying it until after the price went up. OR...upgrade to the season pass during Fright Fest and usually you can get the cheapest pass in addition to going that day... (just an upcharge to the same price you would pay for it online) That is also worth it.

I like what I see so far! Cannot wait for the rest. I actually have to get to posting my CP trip as well... (make that the rest of my FL trip from last year, Great Adventure, Hershey Park, CP, KD & BGE from this year...lol - And I should hopefully have SFNE under my belt after next weekend) Love the airport and plane photos! I have to say, this week, both KD & BGE were pretty empty. Granted I went to BGE on Thursday, with Hurricane Earl at our back door, but I never walked on so many rides in a row in my life! It was completely wonderful! -
TTD Prototype?

Something like that drawing would be pretty cool. I may have actually pushed myself to finally go on one of them if they were more than a one trick coaster. -
Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

So my friend posts something on Facebook not too long ago today about how she used her camera on "the Voyager ride". I don't know what that is, but she said it is BS. Now she has friends posting and telling her that it is an "invasion of privacy" to do that.. because they made her delete the pictures. I told her that she is extremely lucky that they did not eject her from the park, and from the signs I have seen ... could be up to five years. I have never been at this specific park to say...but I was wondering what everyone who does go has to say. We all know that it is not allowed to take pics on coasters, but are there signs that say this? I went to the website, and in the rules, there is a specific section regarding cameras. It is a No No. I know I have seen signs outside of rides at Cedar Point, so I cannot imagine that there are none at Worlds of Fun. I am sure they are at the very least posted at the park entrance somewhere. Anyone know for sure that they are posted? Maybe even have a picture? I am determined to prove my point to her, as if she doesn't believe me.. Some of the GP are clueless about these things. I still want to prove my point though... -
ROPS JAW:: Seriously this is so cool! And I thought I was in heaven when I went to MGM, uh... Hollywood Studios during Star Wars weekends! Also, can someone please agree with me that the original portion at the end of VI (Ewoks singing) changed and that it is just not right now? I agree that they should have changed Ani, but the song too? Fail. Sorry, that has just bothered me since they changed it.

I had some nice airtime on MF last weekend. How tight were the lapbars for you? The drop to me was forceless though, unlike Nitro's drop at 100 feet less. I was actually worried about the drop and it took all day for me to ride. Let's just say that It took me two years to get used to the force of Nitro's drop. So naturally I was worried. But (for me) I was pleasantly surprised and it made the ride so much fun! Maverick was just about my favorite ride in the park. I cannot wait to make my way to KI. The only thing that will stop me is that it is 4 hours from CP.... does Diamondback prove worth it for that type of ride when I have Nitro in my home park?

Nice. Besides the Storm Runner fail and the stinging. I love Nitro! I have to say, that ride hauls @$$ when they let it run in the rain. The worst was El Toro though...being pelted in the face with rain on that ride hurt!! Medusa, oh, right - name change - Bizarro rattled you a lot huh? That stinks. I don't recall it being overly rough like that. Batman is far worse in the head banging dept. Glad your trip was good! -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Lenaapple1974 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That ride is going to be very cool to see the skyline! I actually visited this past weekend for the first time. I didn't even get to Wicked Twister's side. But this is ok, as I am already conniving my brother into a trip! lol. Some of the flats at this park are just terrifying. >:O Maverick had the longest line, and was well worth the 1 hour 15 minute wait. MF was awesome! I had myself worried almost all day about the drop, and finally decided to just do it as the sun started to set. It was beautiful. Mantis was just weird... my first stand up. Shook me up a bit, but now that I know how to "stand", it probably won't do that next time. I now look forward to Chang making its way to my home park. Iron Dragon was a nice surprise, as was Wildcat. Raptor... actually had a long line. Shook me more than the other inverts I have been on but its layout was unique (for me) and I enjoyed it overall. I did not make it to TTD. I did not want to waste time on a ride I was not sure I would actually ride. Plus, I figure I have KK back home and can ride that when I am ready. I skipped Magnum as well. You definitely need more than one day there. I went to CP to ride Maverick, and MF. Mission accomplished, and then some! I didn't ride any of the woodies either. My back just cannot handle them anymore. I wish I rode Gemini though. Next time. -

Thanks for posting! I am going in two weeks! I cannot wait. I have to say, from that high angle - I305 looks quite intimidating! ha ha!! Question for you - what kind of proceedure does KD have for people's belongings? I will probably have a bag with my camera. Do you just leave it on the side and pray no one takes it or do they have a situation for them?? -
Lena's Mix of trips!
Lenaapple1974 replied to Lenaapple1974's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks Eric. It is much different than posting on FB! I usually don't put stories up with it. lol. Slap the pics up and voila! I mean, how many albums have I posted there since the last "installment" here!? I love SeaWorld. I will always go back. There is so much to do, and photograph! I have sooo many shots of the whales (and fireworks)! It was hard picking only a few so I do not keep everyone bored. I also have New Horizon pics, but just couldn't bear to even go through them at the moment because I didn't like the show. This time out, I actually caught the Clyde & Seymour show where they make fun of the other shows. It was pretty funny. (If anyone wants to see that let me know...same with New Horizons) -
Lena's Mix of trips!
Lenaapple1974 replied to Lenaapple1974's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks guys. Taking pics at theme parks is just so much harder than my normal photography. I mean, I shoot weddings and other events, and then of course family and friends for fun. I would post that here but you all would be bored with things and people you do not know. I notice I tend to rush into things at theme parks... and snap snap snap. I am trying to slow down and look at things more now. I have been trying to change my perspective, and get more into details. The thing with the pics of people on the coasters, I always seem to have weather that casts shadows where you cannot see people's faces. I never stick around long enough because I am always on the go to find other angles either. Maybe when I get to IOA next year... I am hitting up SFNE though, so I hope to possibly get some good Bizarro pics. I HOPE! OK, one more update for today. Next up was Sea World. I checked out every park's schedule for fireworks, it was the 4th of July after all. SeaWorld seemed to have the most promising out of the parks we were going to. We found a spot early on to make sure we had something to lean on. This firework show didn't have anything spectacular to my dismay. Next year I shall be in the Magic Kingdom watching the fireworks there. (Is it still called Wishes?). That show was ten times better. Being this was just over a year ago, I am having a little bit of trouble trying to find any words to go with the pictures, but it doesn't seem right to not write anything about the day. Let's see what memories I can dig up... The lines were again, short. Manta had about a 20-25 minute wait. The queue was great, but you all know that already. There were six of us that had to ride, so we had to get split up. The ride op immediately was like... back row, how many? I heard about the grey outs in the back row, so I gave everyone the chance to grab it. Why did they all look nervous about that seating? OH, yes. I opened my mouth on the queue. So I took it. Turns out that it was awesome. No grey outs. I wanted to ride again, but never got the chance to get back on it. Kraken was almost walk on. Of course, we saw the shows. Blue Horizons just was not my cup of tea. I liked the old show so much better. And finally, Believe. Dawn Brancheau performed in this show, as well as Tilikum. You can see in the pictures just how much she loved being with the whales. SeaWorld definitely remains one of my favorite parks to visit, and I will visit every time I get to Orlando. (Especially with the 2 year Platinum passes I got for BGE!) Now, on to the pictures!!! Definitely the coolest signage. I see you Manta! This definitely is no parking lot coaster. Naturally we walked directly to Manta upon entering the park. Are we still playing the Kraken game? The whales never cease to amaze me. RIP Dawn Brancheau Tilikum Be vewy vewy quiet. I'm hunting shawks. The males give birth... This tells you what is in the tank below More Manta Standard shot much? We didn't ride. Should have. I failed at getting a clear train splashdown. Maybe next time! This was great... The mother was feeding the baby. She saw another coming into her "pool". She did not like that one bit and went after him leaving her baby.... She was SCREAMING at him And there is the baby..."but mama, I'm hungry!!!!" He tried to follow her but she seemed to get mad at him and pushed him back And finally, some fireworks to end the night -

OK..Let's try for the pics now... I will try the TPR way. Cross your fingers for me!! The day started at Walmart. Anyone for a pair of boots?? JA and my son Anthony. Ready for the day Parking on the ROOF?? Uh oh... does this mean the park is crowded? (NOPE! Essentially not much in the way of lines the entire trip!) I see you ring a ding ding dingy dings! Too bad this is a failed credit. Happy to finally have her Dippin' Dots Note to self... must take more time to photograph coasters! Hanno is an inspiration! First room in the Spiderman Queue More queue, and probably what was the longest wait of the week. Bugle Net A real calendar! It was Friday July 3rd Can't see too much.... Car model You have been warned! Dorky, I know - but we take one every time. Actual cars This for some reason surprises lots of people... even though they can see it before they get on line. Pteradon Flyers play area Construction walls! Cannot wait to see the finished product! Flash ruins it...but this is before I started to mess with manual settings. Flash does it no justice. Knight frozen in time, now just a memory. Who's that knockin' at my door? Started at this train for a bit. The rain decided to be not so nice. But we got to go back out the queue, and I took some time admiring everthing before it would be changed. There were some amazing clouds and sky that night. Our villa was in Kissimmee CHECKERS FAIL! This was one block from our villa... I guess the one in Old Town would have to do, that is if they didn't destroy that one too! We just went to the one by Sand Lake Road across the street from the best McDonald's ever. The sky was saluting the weekend of the 4th! And put on a show of its own. This nine banded armadillo came for a visit as well.
