Photo TR: Bas does Florida and the East Coast Tour
Lenaapple1974 replied to hyyyper's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Very nice camera! My friend recently got it. I love it! The colors are amazing! I had to learn my current camera for a fast paced Xmas Eve with the family last year, so I totally understand. (Nikon D40X). I'd love to boast about my camera, except I really still don't know how to use it so much on the manual features! I am still learning just over a year later!!! The amount of photos you took sounds like the way I take pics! LOL. When I go away in July, I am actually scared with how many I will come back with. I took over 17,000 pics in 2008 alone! So this trip out... I expect really artsy shots from you! You know...having had time to learn the camera!! -

Awesome TR Bas! I caught the first part of your trip with your father, I dont even know when... I remember enjoying that. Today I ran across the rest! I find myself sitting in front of the PC reading pages and pages because I cant put down the damn laptop! I gotta know what happens next! Gotta see the next picture!! I anticipate your west coast TR! Youre pics are great! I love to take them as well... I cant imagine how many you took for this trip! What kind of camera do you have?? I loved them all! Now...I need to look for Hanno's report. Like I said, I am a picture whore! -

Funny this TR has Dinosaur World in it. I was talking to my friend, trying to work out the details of what we are going to do when we are there in July. She suggested Dino World, because her son is a big time dinosaur freak. I said sure... since we are in Kissimme, and plan on going to the beach, I figured maybe we can go to the beach, then hit the park up for some afternoon (hopefully) fun on the way back?? It is not something that takes a long time, right? LOL. I am almost dreading that day. I do not want to pay for a park where after the first say... four or five pics of fake dinos on a path... the rest will bore the bejesus out of the rest of the group! What else is there in this place that could keep an adult mesmerized? Thanks again for posting! I seem to be following your footsteps! -
I'm very excited to see vertical progress on this coaster! Even with El Toro going up a few years back, I didn't get to follow it's progress. Very interesting. It makes me want to visit SoCal that much sooner! I'm shooting for 2010, but who knows. The hubby hasn't exactly wanted to do that... so I give in! But first Tatsu, now this? I may have to find a way to go without!

I agree with Eric, and not because we are both Madonna fans! Even though your pics as you say are not as good as what others take, they are always interesting! I look forward to more in the future!!! P.S. I <3 Ice Bat! -

Thanks! I have soooo many pics from the show. (400+!!) I was afraid they wouldnt come out so good cuz she is all over the place, and quickly at that! I did get lots of blurred pics...but lots of salvagable ones this time out. This was my first M show with a digital camera. Previous shows, I brought 35mm cameras... I should post some of those for you too. I have a few I can put up right now actually... A concert box set would be very awesome!!!! Definitely something else to look forward to when they finally decide to release whatever it is. As far as singles, and I am such a bad fan for saying this... As far as what singles are out, I wouldnt even know. Reason being is I dont listen to the radio much... Since they stopped making 45's & LP's... I stopped collecting them. I have a few tape singles, and a few cd singles... but when I got my pc, that all went out the window. I had to learn to control my insane habit of buying M merchandise and put the $$ to bills and the kids instead. LOL. Damn priorities! I now concentrate on making my concert experiences very special. (i.e. GET CLOSE! lol) I truly regret not bringing my camera to the Blond Ambition show I went to. I was close for that, and it remains one of my faves! OK...on to a few pics I have hanging around on photo bucket for ya! -

Thanks for the TRs! It took me hours to get through all nine pages! You had my son and I cracking up!! Great pics. Yes, I said it.. Geek shots rock! So do the pics of the parking sections! I do that too! Have to act like an elephant and never forget! Keep up the great work... Now, I must think of a demand.... THINK THINK THINK.... -

I feel like I am the only person in creation that loves pretzle loops... Ah... Chiller. I was hoping that's what you meant! That ride didnt impress me. Although, as most people, I only got to ride the (right) side. I was so unimpressed with it that I don't even know which one it was. I am glad I got to ride before they changed the track though. I hear ya with the photos. For me, that is something I normally do - time or not. LOL. My facebook status actually for the last week was that I took over 17,000 pics in 2008! LOL. Yeah... nuts...but I fit it in somehow. CHUD... not something I would strive to watch either. It was a movie that I kept finding that I had to explain to my children during various conversations... so I bought it as one of those childhood memory things, to show the kiddies. LOL. Watched it once...it has sat there ever since! I just remembered it creeping me out when I was younger. -
Wow, I am in awe of most of the pics there! I love to take pictures, although I usually cant be bothered with learning the manual settings. I know, I suck. I am currently trying to teach myself how to get the perfect picture with no flash of the blowing the candles out situation. I almost got it down perfectly! Anyhow, I have some to share, although nothing more recent than March 08 on Flickr. They were taken with a few different cameras. The Lighthouse pics on pg 1 and 2 were taken with a digital Kodak dx7630. The chandeleir pic, and candle pic were both taken with my 35mm Canon Elan 7. The rest were taken with my newest addition ... DSLR Nikon D40X. Hence my want to learn more! Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful (and that is an understatement) pics!

US Airways A320 crash lands in Hudson

OMG this was totally insane. Someone from my office saw it going down and then from 3:40 on through the rest of the day, I had CNN on my PC. All I could do was watch, no volume. I was mesmerized to say the least. Sully, (as the capt is called) was the most amazing pilot! Kudos to him, and all the rescuers that immediately responded and helped keep the hypothermia to a minimum! Amazing work. Ditching was definitely the safest option all the way around! Living in NY... and always flying from LaGuardia (my next trip in July)... I have a feeling that it will be hard for me to get on the plane feeling 100% good about it. I usually am nervous to begin with. Though, I will do it anyway. I know that air travel is definitely safer than driving, which I do every day. I feel that if you are meant to die by a plane, you do not have to be on one. It will crash into you... so live life to its fullest and do like Mike! -

LOL..(CHUD - that god awful movie!! But I actually own the DVD!) So were you referring to Freefall or Chiller? Great retro shots! I love that you are doing that. It makes your rained out TR awesome! You do not like Superman? I think its definitely too short, but totally love the ride. I usually ride it every time I go. The last time the line was soooo long! And it rained too. Got to ride El Toro, Medusa and Batman all with October rain hitting my face. LOL. OH, speaking of rain, I almost forgot. The last SFGA trip I went on I still brought my camera. Someone had mentioned that they didn't want to ruin their camera with the rain etc. I really don't remember where I read it, but since I am thinking of it and you had rain on your trip... I used a clear plastic bag and took pics anyhow! Maybe if I feel up to it, I will post a TR. Anyhow, thanks for posting your TR! I love reading everything...and especially love seeing the pics! -
My son has Type 1... and his A1C's were so good up until early last year. He has been hitting puberty, (he is now 13) and his numbers are all out of whack! The nurse he had in school last year sucked to boot, and she didn't want to do her job. Caused his BS to roller coaster! The nurse this year, I do not hear a peep from, but school has been difficult to say the least. The doctor attributes that mostly to the puberty thing. I also am looking into the pump for him this year. I have the email from the company actually in my inbox so I can read it over and see what I have to do. It's funny, because his grandmother wanted to cry when I said we are going to be getting him on the pump! She thought is was something bad! I definitely know better. The one thing I hate are all those people in the family who SWEAR they know what they are talking about, but they do not. No one ever wanted to watch him as he was younger. Not one person ever really wanted to try, or get involved. So in essence, they are all uneducated. And the diabetes education they think they have is all mislead by this and that. Sorry to rant. So now that I am in this topic too - how does everyone handle diabetes, the parks and vacations? I'm very interested to hear stories about that. IMO, we do pretty good. Just now that his BS has been slightly crazy, I feel like my vacation this year may be a little different!

WOW! I have enjoyed your Photo Report IMMENSLY! I have to say I felt the same pre-show anticipation as I started to view your pics! I didnt even realize that this stuff was in here because I am always so into the coaster thing that I have in my mind when I come to the site! LOL. Instead of adding a new topic (as I watch the whole Flight 1549 in the Hudson thing over and over again!) I am going to post some of my favorite pics from the show I went to. My night was the first night in the USA! Saturday, October 4, 2008 @ IZOD Center in NJ. I usually go to Madison Square Garden for M shows, but this time out, the tickets were just priced so high. I normally do not try to fight for seats when they go on sale. I get aggravated doing that. Instead, I keep watch on Ebay for the seats I want, depending on what her stage is like and for the price I want. Yes, I do pay slightly over the top, but usually not much over. This time out - it was heavily rumored that there was a catwalk, however none of the ticket sites had the picture! I literally waited until after the first show to be over to see the video of where the stage was. Its presence was amazing! And yes... a catwalk!!! My day started out great. Went to Prospect park with my daughter, to take pictures of her for her Sweet 16 favor. We got home and left the house for the 8pm entrance at 6. I took my daughter with me since she is a HUGE M fan as well. I knew from all past shows since BA, she has no opener, and doesnt go on until 9ish. This is normal. (So for all those people who complain, DUH!! This is not new). It ended up that the highway thru to the city was jam packed and the tunnel was CLOSED!!! I saw the traffic, turned on 1010 Wins News Radio, and immediately got off the next exit. Took a bridge. BUT, to my dismay - the city was worse than normal. I got to the stadium at 8:30. I wasn't all too worried knowing what time she normally comes on - but I was nervous this time may have been different. But it wasn't! WHEW!! We get our soda and popcorn, which is a tradition at shows and go to find our seats. Our seats were awesome! Two rows off the center, four rows from the center of the end of the catwalk! The next 45 minutes felt like forever! Then it was time... Since you got the breakdown of the show already... on with the photos! I was on the opposite side. And since IZOD is an indoor arena, no big M's on either side of the stage. -

OMG I am in love... What kind of camera do you have? I am definitely checking your blog for more. I am totally in love with your photos! I love stuff like this. How do you get it to be HDR? Is it the camera, or a photoshop program? You know - I was so amazed by the photos, I didn't even read anything. HA HA! Great photo report! -
Well, you had me glued to my PC for however long it took for me to go through all nine pages of your TR.. Probably since your post to the other TR earlier today (wild mouse)!! Thanks for posting! I only wish I could attend a TPR trip in the future! They look like loads of fun!!!! I have been wanting to go to Williamsburg.. I have heard good things about that park. Maybe next year... Here's to hoping!!

Aw... I wanted to guess!! LOL I knew the answer but only saw this TR today.. I have been to the park zillions of times, how on earth did I not know that was there? UGH! NO BUENO for a M fan like me! Eric, I have to say I am totally enjoying the TR! I am not even done with page two yet... but I can expect nothing less than the best at this point! You get mucho kudos... You did get to see her this year, right? They blasted M alot on that one ride... so lucky! Kudos also to mattnz for guessing! ~a fellow M fan -

Nice TR. Cannot wait for the rest. Loved the Batman pic with no Nitro! I actually took a second to notice that. Unfortunately, Nitro is still not my favorite ride in the park... lots of people I know disagree. I love El Toro though. And get this... what makes Nitro not a plus for me is that first drop. I just cannot get used to it. It kills me every time. I know its not the height issue, cuz El Toro is like the same height! That Viper picture scared me! LOL Too bad for Dark "dull" Knight. I actually didn't get to go to GA this year, even though it is my home park. I was not in a rush either for a Wild Mouse ride. I figured I would eventually get there. It has to be slightly more interesting than the run of the mill Wild Mouse's though, no? Can anyone compare Dark Knight to one? I usually don't waste my time on those. Is Prime Evil Whirl considered one? If so, that was my last one in 2005. -
Thank you all for all the updates! I love to hear everything going on! Hopefully we can have a photo update as soon as some more ground work is done! It has been very captivating, to say the least... to see all this being done. I still cannot believe they are putting up my favorite type of coaster for the year I am going! Two new coasters in the area...Two more credits. I have been riding coasters only since 2005. (Yeah, I was a wuss), and am curious to know how should I count the credits? One per coaster, not per ride, right? It should be easy for me to count. Kraken will be a new credit for me also. Can't wait to get to Sea World!! From the looks of it, they should be done by the time I get there.

WOW... very nice - and thorough TR! Thank you for taking out the time to write it and post all of those pics! You made my mouth water! I live on the east coast, so all these parks are well within driving distance for me! I shall definitely be making plans for some of them soon! -

I'm a bit late, but nice TR. I wish I could say that I had the same luck when I went Labor Day Weekend. I know - bad weekend to go. This year we are going the weekend prior to Labor day Weekend. I got few pictures...and only got to ride Great Bear! Thank goodness that I totally loved that ride! It was only a 30 min wait too... The only thing I didn't like was that everything was so close together and the park is gi-normous! We didnt get even half way through the park within 5 hours. I am planning a two day trip this time out... -

Lenaapple1974 replied to milst1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I definitely think that the lack of the free beer will not stop people from going to the park. If anyone wanted the free cup of beer (or several depending on who and where you are), they don't need any of those parks to get that. I highly doubt "one" cup of beer will deter any true park goer. True I will miss the occasional Smirnoff Ice they offered a few times I went into the tent for myself... (which sadly the last time I went they didnt have) but I know I dont go there for that anyhow. SWO definitely needs another restaurant though. I hate the food there. Hopefully they make it family friendly.
