I was at the park on Saturday for the ACE Seaside Screams event. There was ERT on Hydrus, and we also got to go in the Skycoaster area to get a group photo and get a nice view. They also gave us an unexpected tour of Hydrus. I went with my friend who's not that into coasters and he had a good time as well. Including ERT, we only rode things for one hour, but we got a lot of Hydrus rides and a few flats. Air Race and Shore Shot were closed. The operations were actually really impressive, but I doubt they have such a nice and energetic staff all the time. It was really a great visit, and I'll post some pictures or videos today or tomorrow maybe. Rides: Hydrus x 10 - Wow, I was totally surprised by this! I knew it would be good, but it really got better the more I rode it. The drop has insane airtime of course, the loop has very strong forces AND great hang time, and the cutback gives you a great view of the beach when you look to your left when you get near the inverted part (I was skeptical if a cutback is really an inversion, but it really felt like one). The next turn is quick and snappy, the heartline roll totally rules and dumps you out of your seat, then there's one more quick turn and even some floater air going into the brakes. The trains are comfy, and it's super smooth. The location is obviously great. I'm glad the park has this! It's a perfect fit. Super Storm - The restraints can be really painful on your legs if you're fat like me, but the forcefulness and hang time are definitely worth it! Disk-O

Yeah, Raptor and Blue Streak are awesome! It's been a few years since I've been to the park, but the front row on Blue Streak wasn't too rough, and even if it was, the airtime would be worth it. It's a nice little ride. And Raptor is one of my top 3 rides in the park. It's wasn't rough, but again, even if it was, the forcefulness would be so worh the pain!!!

Favorite Log Flume

Yeah, Thunder Creek Mountain is pretty strange compared to other flumes, especially the drop. Rather than having a smoothly-transitioned, flowing drop, it's pretty much a flat metal ramp. I love the homemade look and feel to it! -

^^^There was only one train when I went a few weeks ago. Thankfully it wasn't too crowded, but it was at least a 10-minute wait for just a few trains. I could see how the wait can be easily a half hour for a full station wait with its slow operations. -

^I guess it's a hyper if you count it by drop/height, not by the traditional style. Now that I think about it, most mountain coasters have huge "drops" since after the lift they only go downhill and it's all one shallow "drop!" -

^Yeah, during our family trip to Dollywood during winter break, I just assumed it would be closed, so when it of course was closed, there was no disappointment. -
Yeah, I was at the park for physics day a few weeks ago. We didn't ride much since it was crowded, but it was worth going since we got to skip school. We did ride Nitro though, and it had such amazing airtime, and the bunny hills at the end were borderline ejector hills. It really flew through the turns too. Nitro is always fantastic in hot weather, but this year it's really something!

I personally prefer Kings Dominion slightly, but it's a really difficult choice. Kings Dominion has a better coaster lineup in my opinion and has a really good log flume, and both parks have pretty equal flat ride lineups (I prefer Carowinds because of their insane flyers and Schwarzkopf enterprise.) I suppose Carowinds has a slightly better atmosphere, especially with the impactful entrance and skyline, but they're both simple and don't have much theming, yet are well-kept and pretty. It sort of depends on what you want the most. -

I went to the park on Sunday to process season passes and get on some rides. We were there from around 12-3. The staff was nice, but still not that experienced, but that's to be expected. There were some food trucks, so instead of getting Pink's or Potato Patch fries like usual, I got a lobster roll and these awesome onion rings. It's not a huge event, but it's cool that they had it. The park was really pretty and charming like always. I'm interested to see how Wildcat turns out. We had a short, but great visit. Rides: Zoomerang - Middle row. Still very smooth, but I still think Sea Serpent, Great Escape's boomerang, and Flying Cobras are all a bit smoother. Phobia Phear Coaster x 2 - Back row, second-to-last row. This is definitely better than Tempesto because of the restraints. It's a compact and aggressive ride with some intense ejector air and forces. I love how it makes all the rides in the area feel more connected, and what it does for the layout of the park. I'm so glad they got it! Ghost Hunt - Nothing too fancy, but it's really great and well-done for what it is. I was surprised at how long it was considering the size of the building. Boulder Dash x 3 - Second row once, second-to-last row twice. I love this thing! It was great in the morning, but when it really warmed up for the day I remembered why this thing is one of my favorites. Unreal location, strong unexpected laterals, and it has both sustained floater air and pops of ejector air. The track work is perfect, because they smoothed out the rough parts, but the wild rough woody feel is still very present. Can't wait to get my first ever night rides on it later in the year! American Flyer x 2 - Yeah, I take back what I said about these being good flyers, you all are right, these are trash. I must have gotten lucky with that rainy/windy day 2 seasons ago. Other people, mostly locals actually, were able to get some snapping, but the techniques for the flyers at Carowinds and Knoebels must not be as effective here. Still got a tiny bit of snapping at the beginning of my first ride, so it's still better than most Larson flyers. Down Time Saw Mill Plunge - This is a really great flume! It's short, but the location in the mountains is beautiful, the flume section is quick and fun, and the big drop is fun and has a good amount of wetness. This is a must-ride. Thunder N' Lighting x 2 I still need to get to the chairlift and Wildcat later in the season. -

This morning we were at a small ACE event for Steel Force's 20th anniversary. We had ERT on Steel Force for an hour before the park opened, and there's also ERT that we aren't doing after the park closes. We were there from 9:00 to about 12:30. We ate at Chickie's and Pete's. The park was actually pretty crowded (by Dorney Park standards, still pretty dead.) The crews for Talon and Hydra were so awful that they would have been better off with one train since you sat so long on the brake run. Talon even developed a small line because of the hold-ups! Everyone else was pretty fast. It was a great time. Rides: Steel Force x 6 - Steel Force NEVER runs like it did this morning. I think they definitely lightened up on the mid-course brakes for the ERT! This thing had amazing airtime at the end! The first half was normal (although more exciting because of the stinging rain) but when the bunny hills started, the ride got incredible. The last two hills and both parts of the double-up had ridiculous stand-up ejector airtime! Even the tiny bump into the final brakes at the very end had a little bit of air. Every seat was equally great. We were going absolutely wild and had an awesome time. I had to let my sister know that this coaster isn't usually this good. Whip Monster x 2 - We got to go two cycles in a row without getting up! Possessed - Back row. Talon - Back row, left seat. It was a little sluggish in the cold, but still forceful. Hydra - Front row. Thunder Creek Mountain - It was wet, cold, and a great flume like always. Demon Drop x 3 - Amazing way to end the day and dry off from the rain and flume!

^So it basically does what a Larson tower does? If it runs that way often, than that's awesome! -

On Friday I saw Choking Victim on their reunion tour in Philadelphia at Union Transfer. There were also some opening acts, and it was a really great time. Here's what I thought of each of the bands: Sick Shit - This band is amazing, especially live, and deserves way more praise. They played first and not many people showed up yet. It sucks, because they have excellent tracks, they have great energy, and they're extremely talented, especially the frontwoman and the drummer. Apparently they play in all different venues in NJ and PA almost weekly, so no wonder they're so tight for such a new band. One of my favorite live punk/hardcore bands right now! Public Serpent - They were a lot of fun. Nice ska punk. It's a bit poppier than what I usually listen to, but they're definitely one of those bands that are way better live. My dad and my friend liked them more than I did. The Brood - Awesome band. The mosh pit was only like 3-5 people at a time including myself in the middle of the empty "circle pit," but it was still fun! They played really well, and sound similar to bands like Poison Idea. They don't have many songs yet. Choking Victim - Once they started, the mosh pit was going wild! They played every single song they had aside from 2 or 3, as well as 2 covers. The circle pit was awesome, and never lost momentum. Still not as physically demanding as King Gizzard's pit actually. The band still sounds great, and all their songs are classics. Everyone in the crowd also knew the lyrics, and it gave the songs an even more anthemic feel. -

Yeah sure, he's a friend who has connections with the upper level of Cedar Fair management. I can also tell you that they are looking for something with around 5 inversions, that has a retro boardwalk theme. It currently appears that the ride will have lapbars with seatbelts, but that could easily change for insurance purposes. I'll send him a message and see if I can post the blueprints! Are you sure it isn't just a similar case to when you thought you were in contact with the Lake Compounce GM?

^I rode it for the first time in 2016, and it was running fine for a wooden coaster in any row, and very smooth near the front. Even if it ran better in the past, it's still smoother than your average wooden coaster. But I guess I could see why people who aren't really into wooden coasters still wouldn't be obsessed with Thunderhead. -

I will have no idea why some people think Thunderhead is rough. I rode it for the first time this past December, and it was butter-smooth in the front, and in the back there was a little bit of shaking at worst. And even if it was rough, it would still be worth the pain since the layout and elements are so great! -

About 10 months ago. I love the Huss Enterprises, but the Schwarzkopf ones are really on another level! When was the last time you rode a Schwarzkopf roller coaster?
