I hear all three were shut down for inspection, not sure if the other 2 ever reopened. I won't be visiting any of them, ever. I doubt this one will reopen, and if it does it will struggle. 80+ people is a lot.

So back to Oblivion, I saw it today. I thought it was great! It was a fun film with some decent twists that kept you guessing. I had a total nerd moment when the King Slayer walked into the room. As far as Tom Cruise goes, I don't care about the guy as long as the movie is good.

I'm kinda freaked out that you and my cat apparently talk behind my back. And I love not living in California! I may never go back, ever! (I'll be back to visit very soon I'm sure). Loving all the pics, I think this thing will be a great fit with the park. I personally love the colors and and just glad Hurricane is gone.

^ Yeah, read past pages. There is a lot of talk about it already. -
It's a bummer for sure, but glad that they park isn't being rushed. It will be great when this place opens in May next year for a full opening season. I know Wet n Wild is getting the attention right now, but talking to people at work who live in Henderson like me, most have no interest in going over to that side of town and are looking forward to having one right here in Henderson.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Canyon Blaster at Adventuredome. Great Arrow looper. -
I'm looking forward to all of this. The park idea is a welcome idea versus the typical shopping centers that we keep seeing like Linq.

Photo TR: Gilroy Gardens 4/13/13
Double0Kevin replied to Blue Fire Guy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I've been once where it was fairly busy. It was all families with small kids and they all seemed like locals. Every other visit it was almost dead. I think the only time they have a lot of people is during the Garlic Festival when large amounts of tourists visit Gilroy. -
I wouldn't hold my breath on a 3rd train at Medusa. With the extended calendar to include Holiday in the Park, they rotate train rehabs so there are always at least 2 trains. It's much more likely that if one train is about to go into operation, another is about to leave. This could be different than when I was working at the park, but I don't see why it would have changed.

First Defunct B&M?
Double0Kevin replied to 11slataus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
CGA lost coasters when Cedar Fair was considering selling the park, or the ride was becoming obsolete and expensive to maintain. B&M parts are still fully available and vortex still get high ridership. The likelihood of a B&M being removed because it gave coaster enthusiasts a headache is probably not going to happen. I think Led Zeppelin is the most likely since no one has touched it for so long now. -
Are you saying you don't like that? I think the "pop-out" 3D is so gimmicky and should be saved for theme park attractions. The depth kind of 3D is awesome and add to the experience. Saw JP in IMAX 3D today, it was cool... but I know why I don't usually see re-releases. It's just not the same seeing a movie you know word for word.

^ I love watching those. They are usually hilarious. Saw G.I. Joe the other day. It was a big improvement over the first one, however still pretty far fetched. The interactions between Bruce Willis and the female character were hilarious. Not sure I'de ever see it again, but fun none the less.

The article states construction would start (if it ever does, seeing the problems other observation wheels have had recently) within the month. If you are referring to Vegas, that's just because people like to start building before they have the money and think people will just throw more at them along the way. And that's only one of the 2, High Roller at The LYNQ is very much alive and well and will open later this year. I can see this happening because Dubai insists on having the biggest everything. I'm sure someone will fund this all the way through, eventually.

You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
Double0Kevin replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haha, I didn't speed ahead to take a picture, I just planned to snap one when I passed it again. The stop at the rest stop was for more important matters to attend to if you know what I mean. -

Love the idea of getting a well known style of ride but altering it to make it a little unique for your park. I'm really excited for everyone in Orlando. Can't say enough about how much I like the way this park is looking. -
So according to their site, construction will resume shortly. http://skyvuelasvegas.com/current-state I'm not sure I totally buy it, they removed the cranes not long ago, and you often see cranes just being stored in that lot, so it's weird to not see any currently. Then again there is suddenly a ton of construction on the Strip again, maybe they are actually using the cranes elsewhere.

So on my move from the SF Bay Area to Las Vegas on Saturday, I drove past a truck headed south on I-5 with a steel structure on the back. Sure enough it was mine train coaster track. I passed it without getting a photo but pulled over at a rest stop a little later and planned to take a picture when I ended up passing it again. As luck would have it, the truck pulled into the rest stop and I got a good look at at it. I'm 99% sure this is a piece for Big Thunder, and it looks like a lift portion (the cog wheel makes me thing that as well as the pieces of lift trough below the track). Check it out.

I think it's amazing how much this park is increasing in size. I really hope they are successful (no doubts that they will) and we see these mini parks star popping up in more places around the country.
