  1. ^ They use it on all their rides still. Superman at SFDK is all single spine going up the tower and and the drop out of the barrel roll. They really only use the double spine in aresa where there is less options for supports and there is more need for the track to act as the support structure as well.
  2. Uh, B&M Flyers and Inverted coasters have a platform that is on the lift hill that is used to get people off in case the trains get stuff on the lift. Next time you ride one you can find it pretty easy if you look. Coulda sworn I didn't say anything about catwalks "which all coasters have" but ok. Hey bud, he didn't say anything about Catwalks. In fact, B&M Flyers have no catwalks directly underneath the ride vehicle on the lift. Therefore, there is a platform that can be moved along a rail that is located next to the catwalks on the side of the lift. So just calm your roll Wait... someone said rides shouldn't have evac systems? I'm seriously inclined to flip out on this, but I will be calm and just say that of the many, MANY evacuations I've done on amusement park rides, none of them were because the ride was engineered poorly and thus needed the evac system as a back up. Sometimes stuff happens. When a park loses power because some moron drives his car into a power pole nearby, what should happen to the riders? I mean the ride was engineered properly but the power went out... too bad, that thing didn't need an evac system. Even a backup generator for a situation like that is an evac system. It's really mind boggling that someone would think that an evac system should be there as if any sort of machinery could be engineered to never have any issue. Good luck with that. Back on topic, CR looks great and is a great improvement to that area of the park. Can't wait to see the flat in place and the water and landscaping all in.
  3. Riddler, Scream and Goliath were all 3, and have the capability to run 3, but you didn't and don't see it often. Riddler was the most consistent for a long time, but they eventually stopped. I don;t think they even have 3 trains anymore, didn't they send one to SFGAdv for parts for Green Lantern or something? Now that I think of it, anyone know of any B&M capable of running 4 trains? I think they all max out at 3.
  4. ^^ That's not entirely true, the tunnel can act as a block should the final brake run not be clear for some reason. Say they launched a train but the other one did not come in to the station immediately after, the tunnel block would stop the other train. Then again all blocks are mostly useless as the ride will only run 2 trains a couple days a year. ^ After SFDK extended their hours for Holiday in the Park Medusa lost the ability to run 3 trains because they had a rotating rehab. It works great though because they always have 2 operational train from opening day to closing day. The extra train thing is really a smart move for year around parks. Doesn't California Screamin' have 8 trains even though it can only run 5 at a time?
  5. Is the food court the building that is under where you load onto the Skycoaster? I like how the huge support is right there at the entrance to it.
  6. From what I remember from the tour, it will enter at the back of the station after going under the track from the transfer house. Then you would wait to board the train on the entrance side of the station which is along the flyby. I don't think they meant the line itself is along it but more simply that you board the trains on that side.
  7. ^ That is an interesting concept and seems like a smart move. I think it would be very smart for MGM to make that move. Like you said, it basically connects all of their properties except MGM Grand, Mirage and Circus Circus. The placement of that wheel is ideal as well, since it would be one of the first things you see coming into Vegas both on a plane and driving from California. High Roller is cool, but it's at the back of Linq and doesn't get the views of the strip like Skyvue or even the Eiffel Tower get.
  8. It's stopped twice in 2 years... Not sure that qualifies as "a lot." I doubt it's going to be used too often, especially since I'm sure they've done work on the ride prevent the previous issues from happening again.
  9. I've had a blast at some Amusement parks, but Theme Parks are by far my more memorable experience. I'm a Disney fanboy, I'll admit it. Plus I love Universal parks, The Busch Gardens etc.. Theme Parks always win with me. You really think you can get the same experience at Disneyland, Universal Studios Orlando, and Epcot by looking through pictures? Robb is 100% right here. I thought Epcot would bore me to death based on what I had seen. It easily ended up becoming my favorite park that I've ever visited. You don't even come close to getting the full effect unless you actually go to ANY type of park.
  10. I am absolutely obsessed with Doctor Who, cannot wait for it to come back next week. I also love Game of Thrones so I'm looking forward to that return as well. Otherwise my favorites as of right now are New Girl and Arrow. Also looking forward to Revolution's return.
  11. ^ That clear plastic part looks in at the bearings, It will be half full of oil (or some kind of lubrication). I highly doubt LEDs would survive in there. The wheels look just like the ones on Roar and I've spent a fair amount of time looking at those.
  12. So what do you guys think of this 3rd Ferris Wheel story? Seems so pointless, I think one is enough for the town, let alone 2 (though I have serious doubts about Skyvue). Here's the story in case you missed it: http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2013/mar/20/does/
  13. Been to 18 (and a District!): California Nevada Arizona Utah Wyoming Nebraska Iowa Illinois Indiana Ohio Kentucky Missouri Kansas Texas Florida Maryland Virginia Hawaii Washington D.C.
  14. My home park is now The Adventuredome. I know it gets a lot of grief, but I kinda love it. I'll be spending a lot of time there.
  15. Totally called it, just like every other Millennium Flyer. Pretty though and I like the red with the gold stripe.
  16. ^It's very abbreviated though. You can give them a signal to do a trick, give them a fish, take a pic petting them and then you're done. It all happens in about 1-2 mins time. Also it's limited (can't overfeed the dolphins) so if you want to do it, check the times and queue up early. It will sell out quick and just cause you are in line doesn't mean you will get to participate. All that said, it's pretty cool to pet a dolphin. I got to interact with Merlin when he was in Shouka... uhh Toyota Stadium back in 2008 (maybe 09) in a private setting. It was one of the coolest things I've gotten to do and a highlight of my employment at the park.
  17. I don't know why, it's just this feeling I have in my gut... but I think the trains are going to look like every other Millennium Flyer ever made.
  18. Having not ridden either, I'l answer as to which I want to ride more. At the moment I definitely am leaning towards Outlaw run. iRat look amazing, but i'm just drawn to Outlaw more. If it came down to having to choose one or the other for a trip, I'd go with Outlaw.
  19. ^ I think it's actually Joseph Ellis Ward III. I created mine back in the days of AOL right after I saw The World is Not Enough... Thought it was clever and have used it for my message boards name ever since.
  20. ^^ that just made my day. As far as the ride... Oh god, am I going to do this? I have to say YOLO(I'm ashamed). I've yet to ride a premier I didn't love and superman at SFDK blew me away, I think YOLO might end up being a great ride. Problem is I will have go to magic mountain (and by necessity, back to California) just to ride it. That kinda sucks.
  21. ^ Thanks for the update. It's great to see how quick they are moving on this. The ride is starting to look great. I love the funky style of supports Mack uses on these models.
