Gatekeeper construction started in September. Fury 325 construction started late August/early September from what I can find. X-Flight at SFGA started construction in September. It doesn't take B&M a very long time to build a new roller coaster and I don't think that us not seeing any signs of construction means anything yet. (I based this of off B&M because they're the only manufacturer I've seen mentioned on this forum. But who knows, maybe if they're getting a coaster they are using a different company.) We'll know on Thursday!

Millenium Force is an Intamin coaster. Honestly, it doesn't make me mad when parks don't have their rides open RIGHT at opening. Especially the less popular rides (Rides at back of a park, old woodies) that won't even have many people wanting to ride them. But they do seem to have a focus on guest safety, which should be more important. I don't think it's a bad idea to run less trains in rain. I've read about coaster trains running into each other because the brakes don't work properly in the rain. If they only run two trains instead of three, they will rarely stack, therefore there would be little chance of this happening. -
And didn't WoF start teasing for next year really early in the season? I know I saw the below image in probably April. You don't tease a year in advance for flat rides. Who knows, plans could've changed since then. Is the banner still up? I didn't realize how much free land WoF has. A front-gate coaster could take all the land in red in the image below and there is even more available. Is there a rule to how close rides can be to the road? I correctly circled the location of the entrance in blue, right? I haven't been to the park in over a year and don't remember exactly where it is.

Yeah, but I wonder what the ride(s) are because the bio says "soon to be home of ." They wouldn't say "soon to be home of a new entrance". We are expecting the two flats, but I feel like they are making this sound like a bigger deal. Also, didn't we say there would be four new things at one point? Two flats, potential new entrance, and what else?
-
I'm thinking this project might be bigger than we are expecting. WoF is advertising their project quite a bit more than other CF parks that I follow are advertising theirs. Two things I found from WoF Twitter page today: I'm not sure how long ago this was, but they've changed their bio. This was the image they tweeted and they said it's all the details for Thursday's announcement.

Wooden coasters aren't nearly as popular as they used to be. From what I have experienced, younger people would much rather have a smooth B&M or Intamin coaster over a 25+ year old woodie and parks are realizing this (How many more steel coasters than wooden coasters have been built in the last few years?). I would think that there are more people in this world that would ride Storm Chaser or Twisted Colossus over Mean Streak (I've never ridden them, I'm just basing this off of reviews that I have heard). I don't think RMC has ever built a mediocre ride. -
Dorney Park and Six Flags Great Adventure got B&M's the same year back in 2001 and they're only about 100 miles from each other. I really don't believe that this rule exists. I don't think they will add two coasters of the same type too close together in ten years. SFGA got a hyper coaster in 2001 and DP got an inverted coaster. Also, SDC got Wildfire in 2001 and WoF got Patriot in 2006. But, Patriot might've been earlier if SF St. Louis wouldn't have gotten an inverted coaster in 1995. I think this rule is one of the main reason SDC was rumored at one point to get a B&M Invert next year because Patriot is ten years old.

Truth. One of my favorite memories is from a visit to the point a few years back. The park had closed for the day, so I made my way towards the front gate. As I came up to the entrance for Millie, I was shocked to see the line still open at what must have been almost 15 minutes past the scheduled close time. So of course I hopped right in and was on my way a few trains later. Such a cool thing for parks to do. We did something similar with Rougarou on our first night we were at the park. We were walking back to the entrance by Magnum after Luminosity and it was still open, so we got a walk-on front row night ride for our first ever ride on that coaster. We also might've been the only three people on the train; I'm not sure if people were in the back row. -
I find it interesting how each photo on the concepts says plunge by the drop. Plunge isn't the word I would use to describe the drop. Could this be a hint to something potentially, other an that the coaster will have drops? The drop and word plunge are the only things that I can find that are consistent between the three concept images.

What, in your 6 months of paying attention? Come talk to me in ten years. You can share frustrations with me about how the people even younger than you only have three capabilities: Getting high, gorging on fast food, and burying their hunched over drooling faces in "smart" devices. Um, I'm pretty sure that we have more than three capabilities. Honestly, I don't think myself or any other millennials in my family do any of those three things. From our recent trips that I have taken with my family, we have all noticed that it's not just "millennials" that have their faces stuck on their phones. When we were at CP in June we saw SO many older people almost walk into us and other people because they were on their phones. Also, I think there are just as many non-millennials that gorge on fast food. That is a personal behavior that has nothing to do with age. Back to topic, I'm really surprised that CP will already have Dragster open tomorrow. You would think they would have to figure out why this happened, how to prevent it, and do a few days of testing. The amusement industry always seems to have a lot of rules that parks need to follow when something like this happens. -
Oldest Coaster You've Ridden

This isn't that old, but I think mine is Blue Streak at Cedar Point (1964). -

You make it sound like RMCing it is easy than tearing it down . And there already is another wooden coaster at the park in Blue Streak. I like how RMC has become a verb on this thread. -
If a coaster comes in 2017 (which I highly doubt) it won't be larger than an SLC or Boomerang. Which still won't make you happy. Deal with the realities! I'm telling you this for your own good. Do you know how many fresh paint markings and flags were present for Renegade by May of the preceding season? How 'bout the slides? Or even the demolition of the IMAX theater? There's NOTHING like that in the park right now. Nothing. Nothing anywhere. There's only one very small marker by Enterprise. Which might not have anything to do with a replacement flat ride. I never said I was expecting a coaster next season. I'm just saying that the possibility of a coaster in four-five years doesn't mean they can't get one now. And I have no idea what markers were used for Renegade. I was six . Renegade was probably a little harder to build also, I would expect that they had to deal with a lot of trees. A coaster by Enterprise's lot wouldn't take as long to build. I'm still not saying it will happen, just that it's possible. And why would a Vekoma coaster be the only option?
-
Whatever is coming will be in 2017. The StarTribune article and VF Twitter said, I just don't understand what flat ride would require them to close Enterprise this early. I know this is VF we're talking about and that they haven't gotten a new coaster since 2007, but it's totally possible for a park to get a coaster in 2017 and 2020 or 2021. Especially if the first coaster is something really special that will draw people to come in from all over, raising the attendance for a few seasons.

I would be surprised if they completely tore down Mean Streak and built an RMC from the ground up. That would probably cost them a lot more, and it wouldn't be that much (if any) better than Mean Streak will be if RMC does a conversion. One thing is almost for sure.....they won't be building a launched wooden coaster, CP doesn't need the problems Lightning Rod is having. -
This is wild speculation but if they removed Dinos and used the area where the Enterprise is for a turnaround they could have a huge front gate coaster. I don't see it happening but it does lead to some fun speculation. I also don't see it happening until the contract with Dino's is up, but by that point (more than likely next year) there will probably be something in the Enterprise spot. How old is the current entrance anyway? Another interesting thing is that they tweeted that 38-year-old Enterprise is leaving. Maybe they are getting the new version of this ride?
-
That's a good point. Even Mean Streak at CP isn't closing until September 16 and that's rumored to be getting an RMC conversion. Are there any markers in the Enterprise area? Edit: This is probably the most optimistic I've ever been in my life, but after looking at the map, I noticed that Enterprise is RIGHT next to the entrance. Could we seeing a new entrance with an entrance coaster? It could have the station where Enterprise is then go past the re-done entrance and on the parking lot side of Dinosaurs Alive. I just don't know what else would require them to close Enterprise so early.

Fairly sure Excalibur isn't going anywhere just yet. The second Excalibur train is currently in the maintenance shop getting refurbished, don't think they'd want to remove it right after doing that. Do we have any proof they are actually doing anything with the second train? It doesn't take that long to fix a train. Yes, there's a picture of them fixing the train in the Valleyfair Backstage Tour Trip Report here on TPR. I just looked through that thread...... The only pictures of Excalibur are the cars of the train covered up and there's another picture of some Arrow wheels. There aren't any pictures of them working on the train.

Maybe they are just getting it ready to send away or stripping it of its useful parts for future use on Corkscrew or other Arrow coasters in CF. Excalibur closes before the end of the season so they would have from September/October until May to fix the train.
