Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Is this legit? I know it was open when I was there last Wednesday-Friday. So unless it closed either Sat., Sun., or today it's not real. -

Today was the last day for us at Cedar Point. We started off by riding Maverick followed by lunch at Panda Express. Then we rode Gatekeeper twice (back row of both sides) and Skyhawk. We then went to Soak City for about an hour and a half. We went Bach into the park, rode the launch Power Tower and went to the Bandstand USA show. We ate supper at Chickie's and Pete's before riding Gatekeeper again. Then we went to the 7:00 Extreme Sports show, waited 40 minutes for a front row ride on Valravn, rode Millenium Force, Skyhawk, Gemini, and ended the trip on Dragster. We saw a rollback on Dragster, but it was an empty train after it had been closed for a while, so I wonder if it was on purpose. It still was cool to see. Right after they started loading people again and opened it without doing a test run that made it over which kind of surprised me. I was also surprised on Maverick yesterday. It was closed for about 15 minutes for a little rain and they didn't even do a test run before putting people on it. I think the rides should be tested once or twice after not running for 15 minutes. Some notes: -Why doesn't Gatekeeper ever have a long wait? It is one of the best rides in the park IMO. -Valravn and Millenium Force are awesome. -I love B&M coasters. -I expected 120 mph to feel faster. -Cedar Point has a lot of bugs at night. -Most of the Arrow Dynamics coasters are pretty rough, which is expected based on age. -There is a lot to do at Cedar Point/Soak City/Hotel Breakers. There is no reason to ever be bored or sitting around. -The views at this park are awesome! I wish Dragster could stay at the top longer just to get more time for the amazing views. -

Could be. The forecast is not good for tomorrow either so I am thinking of heading down to KI instead and save my first CP trip for next week. You never really know with the forecast up here. It could say that tomorrow will be crap but then it'll end up being beautiful like today or it could be the opposite. A day at KI isn't a bad alternative either. There were two times it rained today, once was around noon and lasted around ten minutes and the other started at about 8:45 and I'm not sure when it ended. We were able to ride all coasters but Gemini, Mean Streak, Wicked Twister, Pipe Scream, and Wicked Twister (which we were okay with). I don't think I could pick a favorite coaster at this place. I could probably narrow it down to Gatekeeper, Valravn, Millenium Force, and Maverick but couldn't pick a favorite. We also rode Power Tower and Mini-Golfed today. Hoping for a great final day here tomorrow, and will probably hit up Soak City! -

Went to Cedar Point for the first time today. We got into the park around one and rode Windseeker, Gatekeeper, Raptor, Blue Streak, MaxAir, and Wicked Twister before exiting the park around three to check into Hotel Breakers. We went back into the park around 4:15 and rode Magnum-XL 200, Witches' Wheel, Gemini, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Skyhawk, Snake River Falls, Mean Streak, and Thunder Canyon. We exited again at 6:40 to eat at TGI Fridays in the hotel. We re-entered again at 8:20 and rode Top Thrill Dragster and Millenium Force. We went to the Luminosity show at 9:30 and then got on a front-row rode of Rougarou at 10:05 (even though closing time was 10). I would say that we had a pretty successful day at the park, good thing we didn't buy FastLane passes! Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to get on Valravn, Maverick, Corkscrew, and Iron Dragon. -

Officially have booked our stay at Hotel Breakers for June 15-18 and got our three-day park passes included. We plan to stay somewhere right east of Chicago on the night of the fourteenth and we'll be in the park on Wednesday-Friday, taking full advantage of the early hour on Thursday and Friday. Any tips? -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

So some members of my family are trying to plan a trip to Cedar Point at some point between June 12 & June 26. Do any members here have any recommendations as to when would be the best time to go and how many days we will want to spend there? We love coasters and would like to ride everything. Would a Fast Land pass be worth it ever? -
Well if that's the case, I'm going to start saying that I have sources at every park and my sources say the park is getting a 2,000 ft tall, launched, RMC, inverted, polar coaster... and when it doesn't happen I'm just going to say "Oh well, things change all the time in the amusement industry." At least his claims are realistic.

And it's not just here in the SDC thread. If you take a look at some of his other post in other threads it's about the same. He talks like he runs the parks and knows what's going on "behind the scenes" of every park. (With no credibility.) Examples: From the WOF Thread: From the VF thread: I could go on like this all day, but I have to get to class. However, people in the other threads also get annoyed at him acting, and posting like he knows everything going on at every park, again, with no credibility. Do like I'm learning to do and just ignore his post. Don't be mad at him just because he has connections that you don't. If you haven't noticed, what he says is usually pretty accurate and if what he says doesn't happen it is because things change ALL the time in the amusement industry. He doesn't just make up what he says.

I've been expecting SDCs next coaster to be a wing coaster for a while now based off of some info I received back in June/July from another poster on this site, but who knows if that has changed. Now that I look through the ideas on this site, I now think that it would be really cool if the park could do a dive coaster with the dive going down the huge hill between Wildfire and Powder Keg. Then they could possibly do a launch (first launched dive coaster?) back to the top of the hill.

Silver Dollar has gotten many more thrill rides in recent years than Valleyfair. SDC 2001- Wildfire 2005- Powder Keg 2006- Grand Exposition- mostly family but some thrill rides like Electro-Spin 2007- Giant Barn Swing 2010- Tom &Huck's RiverBlast - not really a thrill, but anyone can ride and have fun. 2013- Outlaw Run 2015- Fireman's Landing- Again, more family but Firefall provides some thrill VF 2000- Power Tower 2003- Steel Venom 2005- Riptide 2006- Screamin' Swing 2007- Renegade 2014- Northern Lights So, VF really hasn't had a THRILL ride since 2007, nine years ago.
