Carowinds Discussion Thread
LiftThrill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since it's a Saturday I'm guessing from this TR that FL/FL+ would probably be a good investment, but I recommend getting into the park first and then deciding if it will be worth it to get the passes. -
^ I agree. Six Flags doesn't need to add anything major to an already established park. They should be focusing on lesser parks that aren't as much of destinations. Smaller parks like SFA, SFGAm, SFDK, SFStL, etc. Imagine if every Six Flags park was as big and as much of a destination as SFGAdv. I've noticed that my home park, SFFT, has gotten major additions three for three years I have been a passholder (Iron Rattler, waterpark expansion with Bahama Blaster, Batman The Ride), so we're right on the edge of being a "small" park or a "large" park (relative to Six Flags, obviously). Six Flags should be doing this with all their smaller parks over the next few years.

Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
LiftThrill replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
inb4 "outlaw run needs rmc omggg" I feel like the Steel Eagle video has a few too many random inversions and it just seems clunky compared to real RMCs even being a simulation. I have friends in St. Louis who have said that Eagle is one of the less uncomfortable woodies they've been on, but they aren't exactly enthusiasts either and I'm not sure what woodies they're comparing it to. -
Oldest Coaster You've Ridden
LiftThrill replied to MSLSM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As far as I know the oldest is the kiddie credit (1992) at my home park (SFFT), but if Space Mountain or BTMR at WDW Magic Kingdom are older let me know. I wish I had ridden Roller Coaster at Lagoon when I was there, but I was afraid of how rickety it was (in my defense I wasn't a coaster enthusiast yet; in fact I hadn't ridden a roller coaster until that day). However I'm going to ride some older coasters at SFOT this weekend. -

If the loop ends up being as circular as the concept art for the layout makes it look, well, I feel sorry for anyone who rides this. -

Turns out I do get to ride an Intamin this weekend because apparently La Vibora is made by Intamin and I didn't know until I was browsing rollercoaster articles on Wikipedia. So... my first Intamin is also going to be a bobsled coaster. So that's two bucket list categories to knock out with one ride.

Favorite Defunct Roller Coaster/Ride
LiftThrill replied to GrapesLie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm glad to see the old Rattler gone even though I never had to ride it (IRat is too awesome to miss a Dinn). The only ride I've been on that's gone is Motorama Turnpike, but I prefer Batman. I'm sure if I got to ride Thunder Road I'd miss it but again, a border-flitting racing coaster has so much RMC potential. Or, heck, what if Intamin started doing something similar? #ifonly -

Entertaining, funny ride ops.

Ride crews at Poltergeist @ SFFT are great. They like to launch at the most random moments. -
Personally Hershey is my favorite park, I wouldn't skip it. I'm constantly trying to figure out when/how I can get back up there. Between the 3 AWESOME Intamins, a classic (and smooth) Schwarzkopf, the two GCIs (I liked Wildcat), a unique B&M invert, a totally classic woodie, their line-up is rock solid and the park itself is awesome (except for all of the hills). Noted.

This makes me sad. Next year I may do an east coast/midwest vacation so I can hit up any and every park. Cedar Point is definitely a prime destination on this trip. #intaminhype Don't skip Hershey or Great Adv, between those two and CP you have a nice concentration of some incredible Intamins. Great Adventure is definitely on the list and Hershey was one of the maybes. King's Island is also on the list with Dominion also a maybe as well as Knoebels. It all depends on time and cash.

I've never been on an Intamin, a woodie, a hyper/megacoaster, a gigacoaster, a stratacoaster, or a bobsled coaster. I can cross three of these off by Monday though. Now... what if Intamin built a 400+ ft wooden bobsled coaster? Then I could cross ALL of these off to some degree :3

What coasters are on your bucket list? Mine is wayyy long because I've only ridden 12 coasters so I'm going to pass on writing it all out here. (Basically, I want to ride every decent coaster ever. Sorry Vekoma, you're just my credit donkey)

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
LiftThrill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Was the last time you rode it with the new or old restraints? I haven't been to Cedar Point but I've heard that the new restraints can make a world of difference for the ride's quality. -

Batman: The Ride at SFFT. (#12) -
There's a lot of unused space between Pandemonium and the edge of Power Surge with SBNO flats. I could see us getting a Larson Loop there for 2016, but what would be really awesome would be some sort of Intamin coaster, because we actually don't have any here. I know it's very unlikely considering we just got another coaster this year and there isn't enough space for a full-scale coaster there, but one can hope, right? Another possible but not even remotely probable would be a B&M hyper/giga on the edge of the quarry in the very back of the park next to the Iron Rattler's edge and possibly traversing near Superman. It would be awesome but it ain't happening.

If you could've done one thing differently, what would it have been? I may be heading to the Point sometime in the next few years, and any scrap of advice would help. -
