My biggest fear is that simulators will ultimately replace the concept of an attraction. There are a billion business, economical, and enviromental advantages/benifits of simulators vs. real rides. While simulators likely won't ever entirely replace theme parks, I reasonably fear that more parks will add them as virtual effects improve. That would mean a decline in real rodes being built and/or a lack in physical creativity.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

^No, the world has not seen the beauty of RMC. It can see it but the GP cannot be expected to know this. Even if they did, they likely formed their opinions prematurely based on SOB. -

^See? This wouldn't have happened if the useless posts from the last page didn't bump the thread to this page. Sure, he could have read back a page, but he probably figured there was nothing important there. I have avoided this thread except for once or twice a week because the jokes got old pretty quickly. I want to hear more about Lightning Rod's ride expierence without having to dig through useless "Dollywood hoax" posts. -

I didn't know that. Does the line ever fill the switchbacks? Could they replace some of the queue with a new tower ride? -

Mean Streak has a large in field that is just wastefull. Even if you were to RMC it that wouldn't fix all of its problems. -

New Intamin looper train?
RollerManic replied to kadabrium's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You are absolutely correct. Look at where the seat mounts to the chassis. This increase was speculated before the transformation was announced. Suprisingly it was possible. However, that doesn't say that the heartline didn't change. Rougarou's trains could be (and likely are) lower than Mantis's. I understand. My point of using i305 as an example was not to demonstrate that i305 would be less comfortable with lap-bars (because rather it would have less throat-chopping) but to understand the less security lap-bars would provide in extreme transitions. Your upper body would be thrashed around like a rag doll. Was this what you were trying to say? -
New Intamin looper train?
RollerManic replied to kadabrium's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
B) Didn't this discussion die with Mantis getting floorless trains? Rougarou has OSTR like Mantis did. OTSRs have different standards for lateral acceleration and maximum force than do lap-bars. Imagine if i305 had lap-bars to understand why the difference exists. -

This ride has a lot more going for it than Lightning Rod... It's clear cut to me that this ride is looking like it will be the best wooden coaster in the world. -

RMC's, S&S free spins, star flyers, giant frisbees, JL dark rides, next-gen Enterprises, etc are garbage? I've heard that S&S Free Spins are worse/more intense than Green Lantern at SFMM, So I would consider it Garbage Overall, I'm shocked that Six Flags is improving 2 of their bad coasters in 1 year. SFMM's Revolution and SFOG's Ninja I really hope this is sarcasm. I have only heard that the S&S Freespins are much better than the ZacSpins. I'm not sure where you've heard this. It certaintly wasn't on TPR from someone who has actually ridden it. Also, do you understand that SFMM had Green Lantern modified by adding weight to the bottom of the seats? It's not Intamin's fault the ride sucks. From what I've read, the other ZacSpins actually really good rides. I'm also not sure how Six Flag's trend of improving current rides is bad? Do we really have to go here? Have we not complianed long enough for the improvement of the parks and NOW we are complaining? Lastly, dig below the surface some. Are you familiar with SFSTL's autrocious Ninja, the Vekoma-Arrow frankenstein? The station of the ride is always almost completely empty. How dare Six Flag's leave this low-ridership POS on a valualbe plot of land! We enthusiasts are entitled to a ride to replace the Ninja, are we not? However, I have PERSONALLY talked to the Director of Rides of SFStL (who is pictured in my avatar) and he told me that the Ninja has one of the best riderships in the entire park. It simply has a steady input of riders hourly. Six Flags knows what they are doing. There is a reason for what they have done.

Ditto. This is not great news to me. The way the crowd on this forums reacts to various news never ceases to fascinate me. Thunderhawk at Dorney, a ride with meh airtime on the best of days, goes from buzz bars to standard PTC restraints (which still allow a decent amount of wiggle room, at least for me) and everybody flips a shit. Now these two rides, both with fantastic airtime, go from the old OTSR which again at least for me allow for about a finger's width of legitimate "my butt can actually almost leave the seat" space, to these "I WILL CRUSH YOU WITHIN AN INCH OF YOUR LIFE" backpack straps and everybody starts praising Jebus. I do not understand. Have you even tried these restraints? They are the same as the old ones except with a soft OTS half that is internally lined with a thin sheet of metal. I had a problem with the old restraints. Storm Runner is the ONE ride I've found a rattle that was uncomfortable. I haven't ridden Storm Runner in 7 years, so I may not be recalling this correctly or things may have changed since then. I do clearly remember, however, being thoat chopped several times in the last element of Storm Runner. -

Best Drops....
RollerManic replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, Outlaw Run really looks fantastic in the rain. Someday, the vegetation will eat more of the ride too. Anyway, Millennium Force has hands down the best drop I've been on. It plays an effect on you that it is infinitely steeper than it really is. It really seems to never end - something I have noticed on select others, but Millennium sells it. No other coaster comes close to the "duration" of that drop. El Toro's is fantastic. Another no-brainier. This one also sells the "OMFG THE TRAIN IS OVER THE DROP" feeling but pairs it with some serious airtime. Unlike Millennium, this one is pretty short and is more intense.
