  1. Wow, that theming looks incredible! I love Skyrush and I'm sure I'd live Flying Aces! Dave, I'm assuming that because you never mentioned the restraints, you had no issues with thigh pain? (While I didn't get the thigh crushing everyone speaks of on Skyrush, I recognize that the restraints do put significant pressure on your thighs, it just didn't affect my ride experience in any way!)
  2. Dude... that train was crawling through almost every element. I expected the insane speed at the bottom of the first drop to carry throughout the majority of the ride, but holy crap, it barely even inched through the first element.
  3. ^Yea, NL2 is a great program, but its nothing like what you would actually like doing designing a real coaster.
  4. It probably won't matter. From what I've seen, many colleges don't accept AP for math based majors like engineering. I took and passed Calc BC and still have to take all of the calc series in college. Interesting, I had an interview at UVA a couple weeks ago and engineering admissions was briefly discussed. I was told the deans of admission are really looking for 4's and 5's on the AP Calc exams, so I assume they just use the courses/exams to see your level of math intellect rather than using them to exempt college courses?
  5. ^Should I exempt it in college since BC Calc counts for both calculus 1 & 2 credits?
  6. Taking Algebra II with Trig (Honors) is fairly common in freshman year. Nearly all of my friends took it freshman year with me, and not many of us are nerds by any means. I wouldn't use the class you're in the single guage in how much you excel, as it's pretty ambiguous. A better way to determine this is by looking at your grade in combination with the rigour of the course. For example, someone could take Discete Math or Prob Stat and get a 100, and someone else could be taking AP calculus and get a 65. In one case, there's a fantastic grade, in the other, a rigorous course; however, neither of them would be considered to excel in math. In addition, you don't truly find out how much you excel in math until you're done laying the foundation (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trig) for higher level math classes. I didn't know I excelled in math until I was pushed really hard on Analysis (basically precalculus), and now I'm crushing AP calc with an over 100 overall grade average. Even so, my in school grade doesn't easily translate to real life applications, but rather a foundation for future learning. TL;DR: If you're dedicated, you can excel, but just remember that real life and jobs aren't like a math class!
  7. Yep, should have clarified, I meant active/regular TPR poster!
  8. ^I'm fairly certain AJ is the closest anyone on TPR has gotten to becoming an engineer in the industry, keep it up, your projects look awesome! I'm just curious, have you ever applied for an internship of some kind in the engineering area of some park related business?
  9. Oh my gosh whoever put that dickbutt sticker there is 1.) A vandal and 2.) A legend.
  10. ^Alan Schilke would like a word with you.
  11. To design rides/rollercoaster, you don't need to know math. You need imagination. It's the mathematical calculations and the engineer part that requires the math. Um, no. As others have said, math is an imperative field when it comes to engineering and design. I'm currently in the highest level math, physics, and engineering courses available for me to take, and one day I hope to have a job somewhere in the Amusement Park engineering field, whether it be for a manufacturer or a specific park. Even if I can't get to that level, I'm shooting to be a mechanical engineer since I just like engineering and design as a whole. I'm applying to Virginia Tech's engineering school this summer, wish me luck!
  12. The whooshing noise you hear is the joke flying over your head.
  13. I made the same observation, although I suppose it will look much taller when the pendulum is in place and swinging to its full height.
  14. Follow up question! June seems more likely, as my brother wants to be in on the trip, and going in late August wouldn't allow for that. So the questions is this: Would getting Fast Lane Plus on the dates in June (20 or 21, Monday or Tuesday) be the same as, worse than, or better than going without FL+ in late August? Also, thank you guys for the numerous responses, and thank you in advance for the answers to this question!
  15. QUICK QUESTION! First time going to CP will be this summer, and I have a question about CP resorts and crowds. Would it be better to go the June 20-21 (Monday & Tuesday), or would crowds be lighter in late August, say August 22-23, also on a Monday & Tuesday? Basically, late-ish June, or late-ish August? Also, can someone tell me how their stay at Breakers Express was?
  16. I also remember seeing it on my 2 day visit in August.
  17. CP's video production quality is always impressive. Well done!
  18. It has more to do with making it safe for riders in the back row. Taking a drop with that small of a radius quickly would eject the crap out of you in the back row. The holding brake is (I assume) more aimed at inducing fear and tension, while the mid course breaks function as a capacity and safety mechanism.
  19. Working on my 4th coaster to date: a flyer!
  20. Good, let's keep it that way. Did I just read that someone wanted a double down on a dive machine?
  21. I'll remember this when you arent satisfied with their next addition. This post is pure gold.
  22. That actually sounds like a great idea! I loved Stormrunner much more in the front row because there really wasn't a whole lot of neck chopping there. If they could reduce that towards the back rows with soft restraints, it would really improve the experience.
  23. Whatever it is, I'm hoping for a coaster with a lift instead of a launch. It could be RMC, it could be B&M, and it could be Mack or any other manufacturer for all we know! I love how BG is actually creating hype around this very early on.
  24. I'm actually laughing my ass off at this post, because basically you're wrong. KD is a great park, and possibly the best landscaped in the CF chain. Its not BG level landscaping for sure, but KD is nice, clean, and has a great selection of coasters too. Often times I just rank BG and KD equally on the whole, and all of this from a person whose homepark is BGW.
  25. I'm assuming you meant this^? If so, I agree.
