  1. After many different proposals submitted for gaming licenses, South Korea issued one and it was for this project. This was back in late Feb. So, it appears to progressing with 2017 targeted for ground breaking. The South Korean government appears to building up some artificial islands adjacent to the bridge to the airport as well for another project that includes a water park and additional theme park http://m.pulsenews.co.kr/view.php?sc=30800022&year=2016&no=213641
  2. Adding a dry side? Perfect climate for wood, low humidity.
  3. There are several zoos in the United States with Pandas. I'd suggest trips outside of Florida, like to Memphis. Oh, if one of the hippos looks familiar, she just came from Animal Kingdom to her new home in the new Zambezi River Hippo Camp.
  4. Well it had to be moved because something a little more important is going to go there. Just saying. Oh and whomever said that they'd like an inverted at the park may be getting their wish soon as that's the big rumor going around backstage regarding the 2017 coaster. Over in Grand Expo it sounds like Well, B&M did make that family invert that looked a lot like a Vekoma over in Asia. They have a launch system. So, I'm going with launched family invert.
  5. Yep, more of a cost cutting move packaged as something else
  6. Instead of new water aeas, you may just see a modification of the existing performance part of the tank. I see no way they ditch the current holding tanks and replace them with new ones and they'll still need those. Maybe the do built a new holding area but the stadium area will likely be the new natural habitat area and the additions in footprint will be greatly reduced from the Blue World proposals for the parks.
  7. This is not true. Seaworld has confirmed via Facebook that Blue World is no longer happening in the comment section No longer happening in name only, they may be dumping the name due to the issues around the cight for it at San Diego but the tanks sure seemed destined for similar modifications via the press release: SeaWorld also will introduce new, inspiring, natural orca encounters, rather than theatrical shows, as part of its ongoing commitment to education, marine science research, and rescue of marine animals. These programs will focus on orca enrichment, exercise, and overall health. This change will start in its San Diego park next year, followed by San Antonio and then Orlando in 2019. That sure seems like the timeline given for Blue World projects sans the name. So instead of adding on to the existing structure like this pic shows They will likely lose the stadium aspects, modify the existing tanks and reduce the overall size of the new "tank" because the show tank is nonlonger needed, thus freeing up space for more stuff either related to the orcas or not. This move may result in additional cost cutting from the original project announced last year.
  8. They'll build the Blue World enclosures and after years, weigh the mood and rescue other orcas held at other parks much like Tillikum. It will be decades before they are Killer Whale less. They are just making them an aquarium attraction.
  9. Adventure Pointe updated their Facebook page with a drone video of dirt work progressing at the site.
  10. That's crazy. I just priced out Allegiant over that weekend, and they have SGF-LAS at $160 round trip. This may be one of those itineraries that is cheaper in my direction than in yours. Have fun with KC barbecue! If you only go to one place, make it Char Bar. Stay away from 54th street grill--that's a local chain, and theirs is very fast food style. Worlds of Fun isn't open that weekend anyway. I doubt he looked into Allegiant, it sometimes doesn't pull up on some booming engines. Till two years ago, you could fly into Branson, not Springfield, on Southwest or Frontier. Sad to see them leave. I'm kinda shocked that Allegiant hasn't shifted to Branson considering that's a private commercial airport and those routes out of Springfield would have exclusivity there. Don't forget to check XNA as well, sometimes there's a decent price that pops up, sometimes. Allegiant flys a seasonal LAX into there as well. It's a good hour closer to Branson as well.
  11. LOTS being based out of Galveston is great. You got Kemah, Pleasure Pier, Shlitterbahn plus Moody Gardens. There's even groundwork for the Adventure Pointe park going on. On cruise related news, Norwegian and Princess have pulled out of the Houston Port further up the channel. So that 100 mil plus terminal will sit empty again. I know Galveston is remodeling one terminal but they plan on a 3rd terminal after that is done. Maybe Norweigian will re-enter the market then. Hope Disney still comes around as well. I'm kinda shocked some LCC airline hasn't set up shop at the airport on the Island.
  12. How long would it take to cover this park on a midweek . Early to mid June day. Trying to get a feel for it for planning purposes.
  13. I wonder if someone would consider a combination of fixed cars and spinners on a track like this. Two coasters in one.
  14. Plus previous relationship with new CEO of SEAS. But the pph seems way too low for that park.
  15. I'm laying a nickel down on it being an.effect of the pic compression rate. I've seen this effect many times from pics of new road construction.
  16. This park has the best growth potential in all the chain. Plenty of land for growth inside the park. It has Great climate as witnessed here except for nasty hot summers (like Orlando). The State is growing exponentially yet is major theme bare outside of this and two Six Flags. Sure there's smaller parks but small parks are small. (Love Pleasure Pier and Kemah for what they are) I hope the new man in charge gives it the love it needs.
  17. http://www.bizjournals.com/sanjose/news/2016/02/03/is-irvine-company-looking-to-acquire-santa-claras.html I hate the NFL more and more these days.
  18. Lot's of Showers in May and a heavy dew will screw it up. I've seen it down on perfectly fine days as well. It's a fantastic ride, love it, but it is what it is on reliability.
  19. If you do the cave and most shows, yes. If you are there for mostly the coasters and some of the other rides, no. That said, considering Powder Keg's track record, you may need two days to get a ride in. Great fun if it's running, and do mean if it's running. It's a contrary SOB.
  20. I agree. There are a handful of parks that are all water park with one wooden coaster and it seems to work for them. I still hope the park keeps the dry side and is just in the process of reorganizing it. The REIT that owns it isn't going to put huge investments into it. At least I think they wouldn't. Water park expansions are much cheaper than a major coaster. More bang for the buck. It seems like they are trying to sell most of what they have held for while yet taking on new properties it the same time. They sold Elitch last year yet picked up a former Knott's water park.
  21. The single biggest attendance driver for them is their summer concert series on Sat nites., They also recently added a sky coaster. They like their Halloween Season and that seems to call for a dry side as well. They also have a seemingly motivated newer owner in the Wild River Country up the road in Little Rock adding stuff. Looking at Google Earth, There's some room for expansion for the dry side opposite the waterpark but the water side is locked in by the parking lot and the Twister and unless you nibble from the existing parts of the dry side where those two rides are there's not much there. If you look at this from the air the old mine train twice removed from SGStL looks very likely to go as well. Whatever they are doing it's going to be for the 2017 season. There's lots of addition by subtraction that could happen at that park, The old mine train gets axed for a slide complex with a water coaster.
  22. I had found an article that was for a proposal that was shot down in OKC. Someone wanted to put one up in their Bricktown area. He said it was 2.5 million for the tower and installation for a 220 footer, that's the 70 meter version. The ride itself was a bit under 2 million. So I'm figuring the big boys are between 3 and 4 million in dollars . The base requirements seem to be the same. I'm sure the theming on top adds much more to them. The Tivoli one is blinged out. I'd love to know what that one cost.
