  1. Here's a couple of my favorites, taken from my recreation of Gold Striker
  2. Is it me or does this look like it could be a little more intense than what was shown in the animation? Agreed, this ride is going to be packed with them throughout the ride. Just imagine this...you've just come down the drop and you are floating in your seat as you whiz by the station. Just as you are coming back into your seat, you have 3 sections of track overhead (2 track sections from 'midway turn' and 1 section from what is coming out of the station) passing you by! This looks like a pretty tight space that the train's going to fly through! I'm glad that after 2 weeks, I'm able to get my virtual Star Tower gold porn credit. Time to clean off my screen and take a nice shower now
  3. Since your photos like to mysteriously vanish in this thread (or is my iPhone just not displaying them?)
  4. GWW is a separate ticketed event where you will pay to get in, and pay an additional fee for unlimited rides. I'm still waiting to hear back from them if CGA pass holders will get a discount. Keep in mind only 6 CGA rides will be running: carousel, bumper cars, flyers (wooo!), swings, Delirium, and Berserker.
  5. 2012 has been a good amusement park year for me and here's why: -Won tickets to 2 water parks, one being a water park I've never been to -Speaking of water parks, I got my first drop capsule slide credit...all I can say is that it is hands down the freakiest moments I've had in a long time! -First media event invite, for CGA's Gold Striker (hopefully won't be the last -First coaster construction I've actually been able to follow and contribute to the coaster community -Finally got my first real snaps on a Flying Scooters ride (and got my first e-stop as the ride op had no clue what was happening) -Several other fun moments at the park (Finally met several coaster enthusiasts/TPRers and now we almost consistently meet up, usually ranging between 5-7 people, maxed at 12 for Haunt opening night!) -Trip to SCBB to get my final ride on Hurricane Most of my highlights are pretty much centered around my home park but it's still been an exciting season there!
  6. I believe this will actually hit 80 degrees which is pretty impressive-looking if you ask me! Definitely wanting to hit up GWW just to see what happens in 4 weeks, and to get my flyer fix for the "post-season" as I will call it...we are not quite in off-season yet, but in "Post-Season" mode.
  7. ^I will admit as well, I was looking at the coaster and whatnot and suddenly I got even more excited over the flyers! I've become a flyer addict myself this past season as CGA has some decent flyers. They are the prototype of the newer Larson model and are quite snappable if you are looking to do that, or just even being able to get some really high outward swings! I'm not sure how the Knott's version will run, but I will have to try that one out and see how it does. Hopefully that mouse won't run trim-happy. I've had some pretty good rides on CGA's mouse (different manufacturer/layout) when the trims didn't fire hard enough or didn't trim at all...also have gotten some good pops of air on it...wishing Coast Rider had a little more airtime humps much like the Bay Area counterpart. I do however like how it has that huge drop before going into the turns.
  8. Wow, that was fast! Just Sunday it was not as high and the banking was not as sharp. Now I know what all those bents were that were stacked behind the wall. Also looks like part of the construction wall's been taken down now that the season's over.
  9. Honestly, perhaps I'm a bit biased due to CGA being my home park, but as far as coasters go, I'm most excited about Gold Striker I think this is probably a good move for Knotts and is very fitting for their 'boardwalk' area. The scrambler alone makes me think of the former scrambler SCBB had back in the day...and the Flyers would be an awesome ride if situated at an actual boardwalk (sea breezes could provide interesting rides). The mouse looks like it could be fun and a welcome addition to the park. The name on the other hand...yuck! I do kind of like the name "Surf Gliders" as much as the name is kind of contradicting (water and air?)...it also holds true to recent Cedar Fair naming formula being 'Noun Verb-er.'
  10. Yup, another one of me, at the computer at work...gotta love my coaster wallpaper (Gold Striker!) Out in the front yard, with the spotlights and fog fired up...too bad barely any kids go through the neighborhood, though it was fun soaking up the atmosphere (and chasing someone down the street)
  11. Awesome report! I really need to get there this season, this will help fill the void of the off-season. We were actually contemplating on checking out GG...I really want to try the Mushroom Swings as I hear they are pretty forceful...not to mention 2 credits that I need to get. Timberline Twister (the one with the excessively long train)...sounds much like Cobra at SFDK where if you sit up front, you're already at the bottom of the drop as about 3/4 of the train in is at the crest...giving a little pop of air in the back seat as that crests...or if you're at the front, you suddenly just shoot up the next slope! I believe Timberline Twister is also by the same manufacturer, Zierer...and I'm sure Timberline Twister is a pretty loud coaster! Garlic spinning ride...we all seriously need to meet up down there and cram as many of us in there who are willing to sacrifice their equilibrium and get this thing spinning! Sure, my body will hate me after but it will be worth it! Definitely looks like a fun little gem as much as it wasn't meant to be a high thrill park...at least you don't have to deal with teenage GP antics, just maybe unsupervised little kids
  12. Wasn't sure where to go with this...a new thread was made but I could swear there was one made a while back (that was not year specific) thus finding this thread. A recap on what I did last year: Hands down probably my best costume especially since it was all pretty much home made with the exception of the mask and clown suit. This year, I'm keeping it simpler, especially since I have plans on chasing people
  13. Star Flyer? Sky Screamer? No, that's still there...don't know why they would get ride of a 1-year-old ride. Are you sure you don't mean Starfish? I remember there was an instance where a rider was ejected from the ride. Those Chance Wipeouts always got me nauseated and the whole going backwards always freaked me out a bit...air plus laterals plus can't see where you're going... I've done Zonga twice its opening year and didn't find it as bad as what people made it out to be. Was a fun ride, though I wish that I was able to ride it in its original form, the way Anton designed it.
  14. Same, activating my off season mode...or what I call "RCT and No Limits season." Still planning on hitting up GWW, and there's talk of us maybe doing Gilroy Gardens (Gold Pass FTW!).
  15. A nice little misconception happened yesterday...waiting to get into the park yesterday, I was rocking my TPR shirt. The kid looks at me, then looks at his dad and tells him: "Theme Park Review....You know he's got one heck of a job, ride coasters and get paid for doing it!" In the mean time, I'm trying my hardest not to laugh, and turn away and try to talk to my cousin and fellow TPR member to keep my mind distracted. I was then asked which rides were the good ones and I pointed out some of the hot stuff there, and then told him what TPR was...by then the gates opened and we go off our own ways.
  16. Probably could be. I do know that the whole Slaughter House queue smells kind of like the lumber section in Home Depot/Lowes...but smells better!
  17. Warning: Long read ahead of CGA season highlights, recaps and report! Alright, I'm back with an end of the season report. Before I start my report, let's take a look at my expectations I posted last year and see how close I got. Recap: We all know JMA was a flop, found that out not long after the season ended, therefore anything about new branding is null and void...park in turn becomes treated more like a Cedar Fair park! Yup, announcement for 2013 attraction alright! If you've been living under a rock, CGA announced Gold Striker back in August. Demon continues to operate, even got a little splash of fresh paint. Wishful thinking/hopes: Nope, nothing to hold us over...but checking out Gold Striker construction's been a ride in itself for me. Ok, so it's not quite Stampede but it is the GCI that finally materialized! Yup, got them all downloaded, lives in my Haunt playlist Expectations for next season: -Gold Striker will either be ready to greet us opening day, or perhaps spring break. I don't see a "Six Flags" happening here. -Coasters will get fresh coat of paint/coasters will get the rest of their much needed paint (Demon, Flight Deck) -More sprucing up on the property (Parking lot signs are pretty faded, had a hard time finding where we parked the other night during Haunt, letters hard to read under the amber lighting) -New Haunt maze and/or scare zone, and a maze revamp -Madame Marie's Massacre Manor soundtrack gets released on Soundcloud for our listening pleasures -Hint at a new ride Wishful thinking: -New attraction for Boomerang Bay, could use a speed slide complex...those drop slides are pretty nice -Firefall gets new/improved program, earns more flips -New show to replace the aging Spongebob -2 ride limit gets lifted, highly beneficial if any kind of ERT sessions are going to happen. 2012 Season Highlights: -Meeting many new TPR faces (and having these new faces become part of a normally meeting up group) -5-man run on Didgeridoo Falls (Consisted of Flagg O'Dim, rjvader, my cousin, Robman, and myself). We were flying down that thing and walltime was not a thing unheard of. Most importantly, we all survived as we all bid farewell to each other just before dispatch. -Catching air on DownUnder Thunder (and finally having video of it happening, thanks Blue Fire Guy!) -The birth of "Clench 'n Squish" rides on Logger's Run, definitely some WTF moments! -Gold Striker construction, Au13 media announcement invite -Full-on take over on Woodstock's Express with many TPRers -Mastering the art of snapping on their flyers -And last but not least, Haunt! Letdowns: -Opening day, park is dead, I decide to kick off the season with as many Flight Deck rides as I could until I found out that after 2 laps, I have to get off and go around. -Grizzly redundant seatbelts, leading to very slow operations -The seriously screwed up queueing system for Grizzly early in the season...glad that got fixed! And now, my last day of the season report. The park was pretty quiet but busy at the same time. Many parents with children are there taking advantage of Snoopy's Costume Party and a lot of the family rides (and especially KidZville) were heavily occupied. Most of the major rides were all walk-on. Was overall a very good day and easy to get on rides. Haunt was another beast to tackle however. Being as it was the last day, Haunt was pretty similar to my Friday experience, maybe just a bit lighter. Kicking off the night, I felt honored to hear that many of the Haunt talent enjoyed the "Haunt Vision Goggles" video I recently put together. Rather than having the typical scares and antics from the clowns, I was instead being complimented...felt good Once Haunt opened, we jammed to the back of the park were we walked right into Toy Factory and Corn Stalkers. The certain element of Toy Factory was back online making it stand out once again. Corn Stalkers however was mostly dead, thus fading off into the fog. It was funny however hearing my cousin scream at a plant. From here, things were picking up fast! Madame Marie's was about 15 minute wait. We skipped by Slaughter House and Club Blood since it was still within that first hour and everyone's all up front. Slaughterhouse actually had additional queue set up right in front of the Gold Striker banner/wall. We in turn headed over to Werewolf Canyon where the maze became a Giants victory celebration rather than a Haunt After that half hour wait, we headed over to Club Blood for a 10 minute wait and finished the night with Slaughter House with another half hour wait. Still having a half hour left before needing to head back, we finished the night riding Berserker, completing all 3 classic Schwarzkopf flat rides! Random note I thought I'd cram in...my cousin and I counted 24 stroller-bound and/or carried toddlers, one crying in Underworld Alley, face smothered in dad's shoulder...good one pops, you just traumatized your beloved child! It's been a fun season, probably the most standout seasons I've seen so far throughout my duration of being a passholder. I'm ready for 2013, literally. My pass has been renewed so I'm just waiting for opening day Pictures of construction and other randomness! Starting off the updates, with the recent clearing of greenery by Star Tower, this opened up a view outside of the park, right by where the pass processing is done. Note the level dirt in the back. Probably the best view of GS you can get at ground level. Looks like the airtime hill is forming, as well as the track into the brake run. Also, more track/bents at the bottom of the Dead Man's Turn. And not that it matters now as the park is closed for the season, but this once again remained parked up top for obvious reasons. Definitely done for the season...the trash cans were upgraded to an iron fence. Looks pretty much the same here. If only the sun was not glaring through the windows...they've gotten quite dirty. May not look different in foreground, but you can clearly see the brakerun going up! My cousin could not get enough of that foam pit and just had to do it one last time for the season. View from the Columbia...not much you can really see up here these days, especially with the Midway Turn starting to rise. Bents await vertical construction NERD! I'm curious how that double up is going to feel going into the final turnaround. Now for some super zoom nerd shots from Delta Flyer! GS through the trees! Drop Tower nerd shot Riders falling, just released! Flight Deck... Gold Striker... Stadium, this thing is massive! We actually drove right by it Friday night when exiting CGA's lot. Very strange, very massive! Demon lift nerd shot. You can even see its little gear rotating! Grizzly... And Vortex... From here, Vortex looks like a twisted mess! You can also spot those neon yellow and vibrant purple paint splotches. The purple's a bit hard to find, but it's on one of the support connectors. It was a full moon for the final night of Haunt! The 4-eye'd Star Tower Overlord with star tower in background Messing around, more laser-firing and ball-shooting Star Tower! Someone must have gotten it mad! These Cedar Fair trash cans were secretly hiding out in a quiet area of the park...Ssssh, don't tell anyone Heading into Slaughterhouse to finish the night, I accidentally left a long exposure on with a flash...looks kind of cool though. What I really intended to do. The bottom of the Dead Mans Turn...it looks like it's got a pretty sharp slope upward! Back end of the Dead Man's Turn...sorry for all the speckles, it was very dusty back here. A panoramic view of the turnaround, will give you a better idea what's going on. Backside of the Midway Turn 1 last look at the upward slope. And I'll end it with a recycled photo (from opening weekend) of the Carousel. Thanks CGA for an amazing and unforgettable season!
  18. I'm proud to say that my last coaster to ride during normal park hours was Flight Deck at CGA, otherwise technically my last coaster was Psycho Mouse (rode during Haunt, for some reason, I was getting several good pops of air).
  19. Peach Fanta FTW! Thanks for making my mouth water in thirst Having never done a Freestyle soda machine before, I'm pretty excited to try one out!
  20. Finally tried Cga's mystery "soda-flavored soda." Kind of tastes like cherry icee. I know I posted this a few pages back but still find it humorous. See, it's not carbonated water
