The Off-Season Survival Thread
Angry_Gumball replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I totally forgot about the webcam...when that does get up and running, I will most likely find myself staring at that for a while. Other things I forgot to mention: -Black Ops 2 -Pokemon Black 2 -Hopefully the Santa Claw (Really hoping this makes a return this year...didn't it get sold off somewhere or was it just in storage?) -No Limits -TPR IAAPA coverage (Or...Xmas for coaster nerds) -CGA/Global Winter Wonderland and some Dizzy Dragon takeovers -
Huh? What fire? I don't see any fire!

Agreed, Jambo was quite a fun ride. If I remember right, it provided some nice floater air since the metal lapbar (if you even want to call it that) gave you plenty of space. I've only ridden one other kind of ride like that and it was down at Knotts (Grand Slammer? Falling Star ride)...which I also absolutely loved! Oh wait...I also did both variations of Crazy Surf at SCBB, I guess you can call them 'mini versions' of the above mentioned rides.

The Off-Season Survival Thread

I will be back to riding my unicycle, possibly hit up SFMM, and hopefully get my hands on a wii u. Also will spend some time playing Team Fortress with a couple fellow TPR members/CGA fans...you know who you are -
Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
Angry_Gumball replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
Having visited CGA for quite some time now, for the most part people actually stick to the designated smoking areas, which happen to be away from the main path, kind of in a secluded corner. Once Haunt comes around though, it's another story...but again you get all the teens who feel they can do as they please...like smoking and passing a blunt in line just prior to entering the maze. Sad part is that they did it right in front of an employee and nothing was stopped. On the plus side, at least I couldn't smell their blunt though the smell of pot in the air in general was a common scent that evening. -

Why do kiddie coaster credits matter to you?
Angry_Gumball replied to edh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sometimes, those kiddie coasters can provide some pretty wild rides! I still make way to ride Woodstock's Express at CGA just because it bounces you about and you actually get a tiny pop of air in the front seat...plus you have to love the sound of a metal trash can rolling down the hill sounds it makes! -
This is plain sad...that someone would be that stupid to put their 2-year-old up on the railing for a 'better view' knowing the chance that he could slip and fall into the enclosure. No, the park should not be responsible for the mother's stupidity. They didn't tell her to prop her kid on the rail for a better view. It's time people start taking responsibility for their own actions, not pass it off to another party.

Well, according to the rendering, the flyby bunnyhill will have wooden beams overhead. That should be a pretty crazy experience, only to be greeted by 3 sets of track crossing over. I'm not sure if I saw an article on the PU wheels, but back in March/April, I believe I speculated on here that GS could be running on PU. I believe GCI mentioned something on an interview somewhere that PU wheels have a lower acceleration (takes more time to get to speed), and how March 28 was a very important date for them as that day would be the deciding factor whether their new creation would happen or not.

There's a lot of sprucing up the park could use, painting-wise. As noted a few pages back, the parking lot light post letters look pretty bad. The almost baby blue with white letters at night under the amber parking lot lighting is almost unreadable (we actually had to park way out in no-man's land on the last weekend of Haunt when we went on a Friday). Centrifuge's platform looks pretty bad as well as you can see hints of blue and orange underneath it. And of course, Demon, and Flight Deck could use the rest of their much needed paint and Vortex could use some. On the other hand, there were already efforts to get some things painted, like the Eagle's Flight building and Carousel. I never really paid attention to whether if the shops got painted or not. Also wishing that they'd install some kind of canopies over the stations (even similar to what was done on Medusa and maybe over some of the unshaded queue...could come in very handy on those extremely hot summer days, could also be useful for the occasional rainy day to keep guests dry. I'm sure ride ops who are constantly in the sun would also very much appreciate it. Also, just a minor nitpick, we were looking at the air gates this past weekend, especially Drop Tower. It would be nice if they actually painted the grey Masonite panels (that OSHA required CGA to install) to match the metal on the airgates, otherwise it looks kind of...tacky. More speculation and pipe dreaming (because it's fun)...I've always visioned some kind of track heading out in the middle of the parking lot, running along the exit lanes (that take you out to Tasman, in front of SC convention center) when I had walked up that path on one of the days I took Amtrak to get there. Of course this is wishful thinking and would take up even more valuable parking spaces. Also as said, there's lots of space behind Grizzly, though I'm assuming that they must keep a certain buffer zone between the coasters and their property line. Notice how Gold Striker doesn't go right up to the edge (Prudential turn is in a bit closer compared to the original rendering, and actually seems directed away from the neighbors). After GS, I don't think this is the end of CGA's pesky neighbors...though I saw that Yahoo was no longer in those buildings next to Demon. Again, another unrealistic fanboy pipe dream...would be neat if that land was able to be used for the park to expand, since the office buildings seem out of place next to a theme park...Southwest Territory of the west coast! Ok, I'm done dreaming

I had a feeling UA and MMMM would have gotten zone/maze of the year! Those 2 were definitely solid spots in the park. It was nice however to see Gauntlet improve towards the end and was nice to see more effort in Werewolf Canyon. Sadly I can't say much about Deadman's Cove (or No man's cove)... Maybe next season it will get some TLC.
