  1. ^Bummer... Oh well, there will be plenty of epicness to still be had (And we'll still have Monkey Business!) I know as far as contacts go, I am able to get a hold of Sunfire, RawkinCoaste38, and JeffyJosephNorcal. I believe Robman was also planning on coming as well, which I have his contact as well. The more I look at the weather, the more I'm convinced that this is going to materialize. I'm really looking forward to visiting the park, meeting some new faces, and getting my Superman, Road Runner, and Star Flyer credits
  2. The other night (dreamed that I was off to SFDK for Holiday in the Park, lol). When was the last time you heard the Macarena?
  3. The reason why I love Taz...it runs a nice, long cycle, spins pretty fast (who cares if I get dizzy, lol) and the whole stomach tingles you get on the high swings (which last I remember there are plenty to be had). I know some members that plan on going have my number or are on my Facebook (which I can just message them via FB messenger). Really looking forward to our SFDK run this Sunday! (Yes I'm staying positive that this is going to happen). Would be nice to form a list of who's all coming by the end of the week so we have an idea how many are coming and who we are still waiting for as far as meeting up. If anyone's down for any 'insane moments' as my usual group tends to look for at CGA, one thing we need to do assuming it's open is hop on the tea cups and get it spinning...get as many of us as we can who are willing to spin and give it a go! Or if you want to put a nice scare into you, hop on the balloon tea cups back in Tava's Jungle Land (those are insanely easy to spin due to lighter weight tubs and lack of any braking mechanism.
  4. I've been overly obsessive in checking the weather today as I really don't want to have to put off our meetup again. The latest shows the following... Weather.com: 50% chance of rain/showers, partly cloudy Weather Underground: 40% chance rain/showers KTVU (local news): AM showers I'll continue to scope out what the deal is with the weather since it can change for the better or for the worse as the week progresses. It is beginning to remind me of CGA's opening day 2012...the night before I was constantly checking out the radars, seeing how much rain was still coming, where it was going and what it would be like in the next 4 hours or so...to wake up to blue skies and heading off to the park. So let's hope!
  5. I'm crossing my fingers that the weather actually cooperates this time. I really also need the Superman credit, along with Road Runner
  6. After reading Robb's post I strongly agree. One other key feature would be good to have for beginners and such is a 'track smoother' so we don't come out with 'pumpy' turns. As said, the designer/editor should be simple enough for my young niece to make something but allow for even deeper/more complex designs for us die hards. Here's some other (most likely repeated) input: -Being able to save track elements with or without support structures. -Ability to go underground with tunnels, realistic lighting/transitioning into tunnels -Lighting kits, (I'm sure this could be more of a polish feature than a key feature) for either night or to add effects to a tunnel, programmable lighting (imagine recreating Demon's tunnel at Sf Great America or the light tunnels of Space Mountain). -Onboard ride audio, general park background music (I often set up speakers in RCT3 just to give me something to listen to, adds atmosphere to park). -A scripting editor that could be simplified for those of us who want to take a stab at it but have little knowledge, yet complex for experienced users. -Being able to 'rotate' your saved or pre-made tracks, much like we can on RCT...but not limited to 90-degree increments. -Lastly, as already said, a challenge mode that can appeal to the general audience and for those of us who want to take a break from our park/ride creations, assuming this will essentially be RCT on steroids.
  7. ^Mini games...It could be fun having some pre-built carnival-esque games in there. Further thinking of this, another idea comes to mind as far as presenting the parks. Would be neat that once your park's published online, you can 'connect' to it as though you were joining a server on an online game...other visitors could also sign onto your park and you could roam around in the park with other real peeps in real time...perhaps chat with them. Though that may be a bit too much, it would be pretty sweet in the future of park simulations. Lastly, a highly important one in my book anyway is realistic sounds...even if field recordings had to be done inside the park, or sample the sound of a B&M roaring, the ratcheting of an Arrow coaster's lift, or the magnetic brakes of an Intamin coaster. RCT2 had a pretty realistic sounds for their coasters (loved the sound of the B&Ms going up the lifts along with their roars). After watching a YouTube video of Hyper Rails, I was a bit disappointed in the sounds.
  8. Since flat rides would be included, I'd love to have the ability to 'operate' them much like the No Limits Fairground game that was out a while ago. This would include creating custom ride programs, control 'rider controlled' flats (like flying scooters, tea cups, shifting weight on a tilt-a-whirl to get it to whip, etc). I am highly excited for this and shared their FB page a week ago but will do it again as I face several coaster enthusiast friends on there. 2013's gonna be exciting!
  9. Here's my (very limited) poll since I only have 3 currently operating wood credits (4 if I count the non-existent Psyclone, which would be ranked lower than Grizzly)...ended up using the ballot generator as it was way too confusing to me on how this worked.
  10. Awesome photos Jeff! Now that I'm re-energized after last night's adventures, I'm ready to post the happenings! It was a pretty fun night with the group and I will keep it short and post the highlights & cons. Highlights: -Finally getting on the Zamperla mini tea cups...sure it may look like a kiddy ride but when 2 adults (that barely just make it in the tub) get on, it becomes an evil, dizzying nightmare! I kept it spinning through the duration of the ride, spinning the same direction as the main turntable was going. -Our passes now include unlimited rides along with admission (with a small upgrade fee) -More funhouse antics (some dude says to us "You guys are having way too much fun in there...they must be selling some good beer over here somewhere." -Gold Striker progress Letdowns: -Waiting 30 minutes from start to finish getting my meal -Super Slide of Death wasn't quite delivering like it did on opening weekend (was oily, after the recent storms and general usage, the slide lost its slickness) -Magic show in 15 minutes....turned out that there was no magic show, was some random dancing. A little miscommunication going on... After about 15 minutes watching a few performances and thawing out, we headed on our way to the next attraction Yay we have arrived! I have never seen the park gates lit up since it was daylight on my first visit. They did a really good job setting this up! Some GS activity as you've all seen already. The banking is really steep here, can only anticipate the G's coming down the first drop! Still hands-down the best display in the park! Just walking up to it from the park's entrance is just very surreal! GCI curves, sexy! Ready for some flyers action (though being nice to them tonight) Poor Firefall sits dormant behind the giant epileptic seizure peacock. Yet again another favorite display Over into the Carny of Death, we warm up on what I call the washer's rinse cycle (as the ride sounds like my washer spinning up for its final rinse cycle) Ready to get G-Forcified! Defying gravity! Over to the kiddy Himalaya I found last time we were there at the end of the night but never rode...so getting the credit tonight! Unusual view of Flight Deck's drop Approved! Back at the Ferris Wheel of Death again, which made creepy squealing/farting noises while in motion BFG taking a video of me taking a picture of him, taking a video of me... Rob looking at his photos. Rare shot of Flight Deck! Time for a juicy, exploding burger! Too bad the lines were sloooow! Over at the pretty cool laser show, finally got to see most of it! Pretty neat stuff! Snowy castle! Now just give us Disney's flying dragon and we'll all be set! Bird sculpture, made of ceramic ware. Wild fun house appears...What will you do? ->•Check it out •Run Rob's taking his time up the cargo net halfpipe thing after I ran up it. Would not mind taking these scrap pieces of wood home Poor Rob...getting swallowed up by the pink squishy sphincter Navigating the bridges are a challenge especially when you get bratty kids who all simultaneously jump causing the whole thing to shock wave and the whole structure to sway...not amused... Once the structure stabilized I was finally able to get a decent shot of the track leading into the midway turn. Through the trees! Since the super slide of death didn't deliver, this will have to do...and it did! Rob somewhat zips down this Yes, we're going back up again! Blue Fire Guy crawls into the pink squishy sphincter this time... Goodbye you guys... *Gulp!* Off to hit a real ride again...a CGA classic! The lift has beefed up a bit! Again taking a picture of me taking a picture of him taking a picture of me taking a picture.... Trying out the not so deadly yellow slide...such a shame, I actually came prepared with bubble wrap to protect my tailbone! Whelp, it's that time, the time when the park goes to bed for the night...here's a stadium shot for you 49ers/football fans! The final beam that was installed, you can see a flag and a small Christmas tree sitting up there. And the bay area fog sets in for the night...Good night CGA and GWW, had yet again an awesome time! See you in a couple weeks!
  11. Wow, Blue Fire Guy, you got them up fast! (and I'm borrowing some of your day photos for my blog ) Thanks for sharing, wishing I had gotten some daytime shots but getting off work at 4 didn't quite let that happen. And you missed the craziest moment of the night, which you MUST experience next time...the Zampera Mini Tea Cups! Robman and I both managed to get on as one of our final rides and got that sucker spinning even faster than Dizzy Dragons, doing it in what you call "Ecstasy Style" (spinning the tub the same direction as the main ride for those who don't understand our lingo)...and we maintained that spin the entire 2-minute cycle! Honestly, I would not advise fitting more than 2 people per tub on that, was scary enough with 2 riders I'll get some of my goldporn photos and more GWW fun up later today (or tomorrow). And Gold Striker...the banking at the bottom of the first drop looks insanely sharp, even moreso than the animation! And with the concrete slab you guys saw, I'm sure we can expect to see the drop grow (as well as the lift) by the end of the week assuming weather works in the park's favor.
  12. I have this DVD laying around, somewhere! It has several segments on the bay area coasters like Stealth (Shown), as well as V2 and I forgot which else.
  13. Honestly when I saw the bumped thread I thought there was some news about it until I read the thread subtext...still had hopes that maybe there was some news anyway. Maybe I'll play some claw games tomorrow at CGA while playing the Santa Claw music...get everyone else in our group to line up behind me! Speaking of claw...this was the final grab from last year, possibly it's final grab until we find out it's future (or fate).
  14. Funny, was just talking about the Claw last night and listening to the 'in line' music today as it's on my phone as well. Man, I miss it...and was also hoping that something would have popped back up....then I got to reminiscing about Ro-Bros (and how that didn't quite take off as I thought).
  15. Draw Something...'nuff said...especially with your friends actually present, and drawing theme park related things off of the simplest words...(Like I get the word "Stapler", I draw a ride op stapling someone...or get the word "Shark" and I draw Flight Deck's shark wheel cover). Otherwise I whip out the phone and check up on TPR, maybe 'check in' at a ride on Facebook or just chill with the group and do random things...like we were quizzing each other on naming all the CF/SF parks, naming all Schwarzkopf loopers in the US...
  16. Sadly, I never got to ride it but watching it take off looked pretty forceful! And like you mentioned, the sounds of the motors winding up, sounds like a BART train as it begins departing the station. It also reminds me of the Rocket Rods when it begins winding up. Seriously though, people weren't allowed to scream on it? I thought I was hearing things last night (it was late when I watched it). I like how the ride op towards the end of the video forgets what he was going to say..."And or....(long pause)....Sunglasses!" when he had already said that.
  17. Oh yea...almost forgot to note, more GWW action (and Gold Porn) this weekend! Since I have the GWW season pass, why not use it? Unlimited rides are half-off too, making it a perfect weekend to visit again! With this said, expect to see some photos from us An update to my post...I was bored and surfing Youtube, looking at our GWW video stuff when I found this in the 'related videos.' Finally some decent footage of this classic attraction, as much as the whirring noise is drilled back into my head again.
  18. CGA? ERT? That's like shoving diarrhea back up your butt...(Ok, I need to stop with the Haunt Culture Pop show references, lol...one of the lines the Overlord says ) In all seriousness, as of lately, CGA's ERT policies are laughable...2 rides and go around. Coasting for Kids was quite laughable as while all the other CF parks got ERT sessions, CGA just gave out fast lane passes. Something must have happened for the park to not allow any kind of ERT even if it's sanctioned. Not sure if they will offer season pass holder benefits as it's been a long time the park's received any major rides, not to mention, this is CF's first involvement with the park and a major attraction. Only time will tell. In the mean time, there is that rider auction that's to happen, more details in February I believe.
  19. Agreed about BART, just used it the other day and leaving the station felt like a mild launch. Not to mention the noises it makes when taking off. Oh, and also B&M baked beans. Lastly, being a draw something player and drawing with other TPR members we tend to relate everything with coasters and such.
  20. As of lately: Cash 4 Gold shops...Anything with the word 'gold' in it...Why? I immediately think of Gold Striker Also when riding my bike I'm often guilty of smoothly braking much like a coaster, or do 'trim brakes' to tone my speed down a bit. Lastly, several yoyo tricks make me think of coaster elements/inversions. One called Gyroscopic Flop, where the yoyo does a full sideways rotation while sleeping makes me think of a barrel roll, or S:UF at SFDK.
  21. I love hangtime, actually. However my sinuses disagree with me and absolutely hate it.often my face feels pressurized like my sinus cavities are going to explode. Bonus points if your butt leaves the seat (like on an Intamin looping starship). Speaking of, that ride (Endeavor/Revolution at CGA) gives me the most hangtime. Often my butt is several inches off the seat. thighs smashing into lapbar and shoulders digging into OTSR. Sometimes it will balance inverted for several seconds. Not sure what the longest stall record was though for it.
  22. So I'm puzzled now. It opens on a Friday, which is Good Friday...It seems like that the park is opening a week later this season as I recall the park opening on the 3rd weekend of March and not the 4th. Oh well, I can't wait to hit up the park, just going to have to put in for that Good Friday off..will literally be a "Good Friday" I'm wondering if it has to do anything with Gold Striker's opening...let the speculation begin!
  23. Just wondering, is there a projected release time? Also are you guys planning on just digital distribution or will this software be available in major retailers/game stores? Really looking forward to what could be the RCT killer (NL killed RCT with it's coaster editor but lacked the rest of the whole park creation aspect, which I'm highly excited about).
