  1. Glad to see Grizzly's 'death turn' finally getting some love. That part was pretty brutal and my neighbor actually kinked her neck riding it back in September. To this day it's still out of whack.
  2. Wow! *sits there in shock, with a bit of drool coming out the mouth* I can only imagine what everything else is going to look like! I wonder if we'll be able to pick colors for these rides. Just a guess but this looks more like what we will really see in game as opposed to what we were guessing was a render the other day. Looking really good!
  3. There are, were posted here a while back. I have the page bookmarked at home, just found it via google Here it is: http://jbrown.best.vwh.net/dropzone/old.htm
  4. Here's hope that Cabin #1 will be alive along with the other 5 cabins...I know, I'm unrealistically dreaming haha. And gotta love the old Paramount signage in the background...though we've seen lots of stuff during the back stage tour in regards to old Paramount signage including a Top Gun sign. About the parking garage, it is probably a good 10-15 minute walk from there to the gate. I've walked from the Amtrak station just up the road to the park's gate and has taken me about 20-25 minutes walking at a quick pace. Let's say the distance would be like walking from CGA's gate all the way to the picnic area by Psycho Mouse. It's definitely a little bit of a trek but I'm sure it will help alleviate some of the parking issues during the home games....and can't be any worse than SFDK's parking situation clear across the lake
  5. That's a good thing to know as I'll be taking more shots of CGA's Gold Striker from the Star Tower (Observation tower much like Sky Cabin). I'm liking the photos, wishing I could get my DSLR photos to come out so vivid and crisp like yours...are you using any filters on the lens (like a UV filter)?
  6. It is definitely pretty detailed and pretty accurate, even if it is just a rendering! I even went as far as looking up a Huss Troika just compare notes. Just an observation, I noticed the hinges that join the cars onto the wheel aren't present (yet?), appearing to be floating at the moment but am very happy with what I am seeing so far! Looking at the 2, besides the missing hinge piece, I'd say they nailed it! Now I'm really missing Triple Play that once lived at CGA Really can't wait to see what other flat rides are in store and how realistic they will look!
  7. Looks amazing! Now, is that just a render we're seeing or is that what the game is really going to look like? Should give my computer a nice test to see if it can hold up to it...it runs fine with RCT3 with max settings minus the slow loading RCT3's crippled with.
  8. We had a carnie assure us that the kiddie himalaya ride was safe and if anything came apart its only a 2-foot drop. I also experienced one that talked like Elmer Fudd. Not to mention she had a lisp (lithp?). A week later I'm back at the kiddie tea cups she was running and immediately recognized me due to my crazy spin session I previously did. One thought we were talking about porn when we had a nerdy discussion on the sounds LIM and LSM coasters make when launching. Last one that was awkward was when I was doing the same rise with a fellow TPR member, Robman. The op asks if I was his dad...yea, that made me feel strange and dramatically older than I really am. Yup it's always interesting when carnies take over your home park for a special event.
  9. I'm excited for this! Initially I was thinking it would have been around February like last year, (would have been a nice birthday treat for myself ) but it's understandable that having it at the later date opens up the door to check out YOLOcoaster, and KBF's Flyers (mmmm....new flyer credit, can compare them to CGA's/my home park's flyers/Larson flyer prototype) and Coast Rider. I definitely need to do it this year and am excited for it already! Would be a good close to the end of the park season finale for me. 2013 sounds like it's going to be an epic theme park year for me!
  10. I saw that earlier, now looking at it on larger screen...it is looking pretty awesome! It's amazing what a little bit of paint and even other TLC can do for a coaster and overall park atmosphere! I'm glad they seemed to pick back up on where they left off last season (though they did get a late start thanks to JMA's interruption). I hope to see some more sprucing up in the park as there are several areas that can use it..even the parking lot looks pretty well beaten (which will probably get redone soon anyway). I wonder if they're finishing up on Flight Deck, as much as I did not see any activity a week ago there. Demon on the other hand is pretty well hidden so it would be hard to tell...and I'm sure they've been working on that all along.
  11. Some of the recent SF-owned GCIs opened the same years or close to the CF-owned GCIs...looking at how Apocalypse and American Thunder sit lower than Prowler and Renegade. I know the two Roars sit lower due to their age, features and such...notice Roar West ranks higher than Roar East...which I hear is pretty bad.
  12. Seeing several GCI coasters in the top 20s, I can only become more excited for Gold Striker! I'm curious as to how this one will rank come next year's poll. I noticed the Cedar Fair GCI's seemed to rank higher than the Six Flags-owned GCIs... Wonder if that means anything...
  13. That's definitely Texas Tornado! Looks like there was a thread here a while back about what coaster that was when I did a search for the above graphic.
  14. I figured that icon was that coaster When I just got Windows 7 in at work, I had a flower icon and decided to see what they had. My home computer has the same. I watched a POV of it last night after stumbling on the unique coaster element and this thread. Such a strange ride! Even the bottom of the first drop looks like it got kinked to the left a bit.
  15. I finally found my Wiimote and some batteries (couldn't find it for a while) and decided to try out Kirby's Epic Yarn I got for Xmas...such a fun game. I highly recommend it because it's a Kirby game! The whole art style's pretty neat too, simplistic but good! Portable gaming - plugging along with Pokemon Black 2, just beat the 4th gym (Elesa, not to be confused with Elissa) with a lvl 23 Magnemite, 28 Sandile, and 27 Servine...That Magnemite was a key to my victory as I was able to paralyze the opponent's monsters.
  16. Watching our faces getting sucked in while riding a gravitron, and our 5-person run on CGA's raft slide...one had no handles to hang onto, 2 of us constantly hit the high banks and caught air, and some heads konked into each other when hitting the splash pool. This consisted of TPR members Robman, Flagg o'Dimm, Rjvader, JeffyJosephNorcal, and myself. It was definitely a crazy run down the slide and had us all giggling like little kids
  17. I wonder what the new version will be...as in which model. That is one ride that I can probably ride once and would do it at the end of the day...as much as I broke my record and rode a (what felt more forceful) Gravitron 3 times in a few hours. I also used to ride Gravitrons like crazy when I was young and came off fine. I'm diggin' the newly painted Giant Dipper sign. While it's a new color scheme, it doesn't stray too far from what it was. I've also looked at the newly painted gondolas for the Sky Gliders and that should look nice against the blue skies...that is until the UV rays and vandals take over and ruin it. Only weird thing I notice are the 2 shades of yellow...the lighter looking like it already had too much sun. If it weren't so glossy I'd say that those still need to be painted
  18. Borrowing from CGA's Instagram, looks like the wall's been removed! No more funhouse of death since GWW is done (probably reason for finally taking down construction wall).
  19. I'm liking the logo as well! Can't wait to see more of what this simulation has in store!
  20. Yea, there's so much wrong going on there, reminds me of something I'd hear/see in South Park...shouldn't something have been done the first time around when the Zorb went 'off course'? Watching the video, minus the 2 very low walls (if you even want to call them walls) on the sides, I couldn't tell if it was really a course or not. And it apparently did not stop by itself, at least not in a safe manor.
  21. Park-specific sites seemed to have died off, especially around here... Back in the day we had Great American Thrills, SFMWOnline, SFDKZone, and NorCalCoasters.net (just gave myself mega nostalgia just now)...Maybe it's just a Bay Area thing. Sites like TPR I don't see dying off anytime soon...would be like any major successful big-box stores being a dying breed, TPR having a healthy amount of park coverage similar to a big-box store carrying a wide selection of goods. With social networking sites booming and such, the way we receive information will only evolve...as Robb pointed out, live updates from Media Day or a major TPR trip. It is definitely a lot quicker to post several images up on Facebook with a quick caption from the phone than trying to make a decent post on TPR with several images, not to mention having to downsize them on your phone on the fly. Having done 1 media event so far, I had to do it 'old school' style (since I don't have a park fan page on Facebook...yet) and wait until I got off work the next day to go through pictures, resize them, and finally get my take on the report up - minus the postings on Facebook/Instagram for my coaster enthusiast friends to see. To be fair, I did head off to another park after the media event for the rest of the evening. I wonder if unofficial park fan pages will make a rise (if they haven't already) since they are free to set up on Facebook. I know I've seen an unofficial Cedar Fair page, dedicated only to CF parks...minus the typos/grammatical errors and some of the posts, initially it could be hard to tell if it's the real deal or not. There are some sites out there that appear to see less traffic compared to back in the day when I used to visit pre TPR forums...one being CoasterCrazy. I see the same threads just sitting there collecting dust while here the first page of the forum is always changing with updates to threads and such...a lot more active. I haven't ventured into their coaster exchange but I think that's primarily their strongest spot of the site. So yea, I don't see our breed dying and especially don't see TPR fading off to oblivion unless the whole amusement park industry completely wanes for some unknown reason. We manage to keep the CGA thread on the first page over the past several seasons since the CGA thread was made. Just because it's off season doesn't mean the parks don't exist, there's always some kind of discussion bound to happen whether if it's construction updates, speculation, or when all else fails, ghosts (yes this actually happened last year in the CGA thread )
  22. Going through at the high speed will definitely give the illusion of the arms/heads being chopped off, making it look like a tight squeeze. Just like one time I was riding a scooter through a parking garage and while I had plenty of clearance it felt like the upper beams were going to hit my head. Should be fun to watch everyone duck and cover on this thing
  23. I'm not crazy of the name but this looks really good! The buildings now look more like buildings and less like cardboard Also looking more like the anime. And the battle sequences...looking awesome! Are they using cel-shaded Pokemon rather than sprites? They seem Wind Waker-ish - being cartoon but 3D at the same time.
  24. Not that I want to double post in such short time, but CGA added a handful of photos to their Facebook album with even more awesome views of Gold Striker from the other side of the fence! Thought this would be worthy to add to the already shown trip reports! Some that stood out to me: Tight Squeezage #1 at max speed Tight Squeezage #2 at a still rather decent speed following the airtime hill (my most anticipated moment of the ride) Brake run work, and pre-lift turnaround. This also shows how hilly the terrain really is back there...never realized it was that much!
