  1. So far: SCBB, CGA (Global Winter Wonderland) Planning: CGA (Full operation/normal CGA), SFMM, KBF, DL/DCA...maybe an SFDK run down the road to get my Superman fix
  2. Glad to hear that CF is pumping some love throughout the park! I imagine the rest of the investments into the park besides GS is the painting of the buildings we've seen and general, much-needed park upkeep. About the simulator: I'm all for a new film, which is the cheaper alternative than ripping it out and putting in a new attraction altogether. I just hope that whatever they put in (assuming this rumor actually materializes) will be enjoyable for a few seasons, and swap it out with something new regularly to keep things fresh. When did Spongebob make his appearance in there anyway? I honestly don't know how long that film's been in there compared to the many other films they've had over the years.
  3. ^you're right, in that shot where you see the lift they appear rather neatly placed but in another shot you can see they were just set there
  4. Awesome! I need to see more angles of that first drop Wait, is it me or is that flyby covered? We will really be able to 'take the tunnel' soon!
  5. Good, glad this thread was created! Mine's just AngryGumball, also shown in my signature
  6. Mine had to have been Tidal Wave at CGA (Would have been Montezooma's Revenge but I was new to inversions and a lapbar only freaked me out...this was when I was just a GP). My last one I rode was Zonga at SFDK, and my next ones will be Montezooma's Revenge at KBF and Revolution at SFMM
  7. Oh yea, I remember Flat Stanley I was almost going to take some random student's (in my niece's class) Flat Stanley to CGA but didn't want to carry it around at the park all day. Instead I kept it here and 'showed him' TPR and such I'm looking forward to their update when that comes around Edit: I didn't even notice the additional bents that had gone up on the lift as I initially saw the photo on my phone.
  8. Looks great, though the terrain definitely throws off the ride's appearance. To this day, I'm still tweaking my Gold Striker recreation which was uploaded in the exchange several months back.
  9. Let's take a trip to my childhood. When trying to find something earlier, I came across my old family photos and such and first images sitting on top was us taking a ride on Blue Streak, now Woodstock's Express. I still can't exactly see where I'm specifically at on the train however. In the background you can see the now defunct Scenic Railway passing by.
  10. Yea haha, I guess that doesn't make sense. But you won't have the GP complain that their new iPad got damaged riding the rapids ride The more I think of it, I still believe its time for a new show in there but the rafting doesn't seem to be the best fit, especially when you already have a rapids ride. Waterless rapids anyone?
  11. My true closest coaster is a Wisdom kiddie coaster at the Oakland Zoo, or a wacky worm when the carnival sets up at the local mall. Otherwise my closest real coaster would have to be Flight Deck CGA (yay!), followed by Vortex, followed by Gold Striker..that is if we want to count where the coasters are geographically in the park
  12. Or better yet, be able to import a ride texture, that way you can stick custom graphics and such on it, especially if you're trying to fit it in a certain theme (say that you wanted it to have an old wood look to fit in maybe a jungle-themed area or a western area). I'll probably duplicate this thought over at their site.
  13. Looks like the bolt and smaller flanges is just a texture (zoomed in close on image) but it looks amazingly detailed and real! I guess keeping it as a texture rather than modeling every bolt will be nice to outlr computer's resources
  14. My current favorite launched coaster: Why? It has an amazing mix of positive G's, intense ejector air, and an inversion 150 feet up with only a lapbar holding you in. It's a great, compact, very well rounded coaster that packs a lot in its short length!
  15. Came across an update (same update that had the White Water Rafting simulator rumor) over the weekend showing somewhat of a view inside of the park. Nothing we haven't really seen since our GWW adventures but some were curious a few pages back (when we posted our updates last weekend) about the queue for Star Tower. I am curious how the area will look inside of the Star Tower 'plaza,' having faith that it will look nice...following suit with CGA's landscaping habits. Yea, looks like the paths will go right through the structure at more or less the same area. Note the openings/no overlapping beams.
  16. Looks pretty good! You even got the traditional coat hanger transition into the corkscrews down
  17. Deciding to check out Iwerks' website (CGA's simulator is an Iwerks Turbo Ride, right?) I found that there is a white water rafting film but doesn't show much other than this: Did I mention that the rumor said that it would be a 2D film? 3D would have been a bit better especially for something like rafting or any kind of media involving POVs. http://www.simex-iwerks.com/Default.asp?id=4&l=1&mcat_gid=2&mcat_pid=35&mcat_cid=3 I say, they just play Coasters in the Raw footage in there...show off 3-5 random POVs, whatever fits into a reasonable runtime. It would bring re-rideability for its variation and randomness. Didn't the other side of the theater just become a spare parts donor for the side that is running?
  18. ^Has Riddler gotten rough? I remember riding in 2001 and felt fine. I guess I'll see in a couple months But still, standing up is not the most comfy position to be riding...especially if you already stood an hour in line Switching gears here, the old 'Dippin' Dots Guy' rumor rises like a zombie: So the latest rumor I heard is that the aging Spongebob 3D film may be on its way out, and replaced with some kind of white water rafting 2D film. Though this is the case of hearing it from someone that heard it from someone else...so we shall see!
  19. That's the thing...standups are uncomfortable. The uncomfy experience is glorified with the intensity Vortex delivers. If it were a floorless or a sit down it would be a pretty sweet ride, ranking just behind FD in my books. Totally didn't see sky hawk in that video, going to watch again
  20. More retro hotness, Vortex when it was green!
  21. ^You mean the concrete footers? I'm honestly not sure if CF would have kept TW or not to be honest. Though Orbit went dormant in 2006, it did make a comeback for the 2007 season if I remember right. I didn't regularly visit the park until 2007, last visit before that was in 1999. I missed Stealth but thank Anton I got/made decision to ride Tidal Wave at that time as it was my only time I rode it. Stealth on the other hand...I'm sure it would have been relocated anyway.
  22. Initially thinking it would have been Gold Striker or Flight Deck, my 2013 coaster was Giant Dipper at SCBB this past weekend (2/2/13). Was a great way to kick off a what's gonna be epic 2013!
  23. And while TW would be a huge hit for us die-hard enthusiasts, you think the GP would really take to it? Wasn't the ridership dropping towards the end of its life? I would love to see though if some kind of launched shuttle came back...kind of like a throwback to TW/GL but something 'modern' if you want to say that the GP would enjoy as well as us enthusiasts.
  24. Another shot was posted of some building renovation at CGA...Subway?
  25. Besides my home park, CGA, we're looking at doing a SoCal trip that would include Knott's, Disney, and Magic Mountain. I've already visited Santa Cruz Boardwalk this year but plan on visiting again especially when Undertow opens. I think 2013 will be my best theme park season yet (not to mention a boat load of credits, missing most of KBF and only doing 5 coasters at SFMM)!
