^I actually do remember seeing your shirt. We were behind you in line somewhere at some point and I pointed out your shirt haha. Thanks for the insight on the All Season Flash Pass! I was very skeptical. We planned to just use our SFOG 2016 pass but ended up running from place to place in SFNE getting our 2017 passes done there so we could save $250 on buying two platinum Flash Passes just for the day. I hope our SFNE registered season pass will work at White Water but if not, oh well. I don't think we will be heading to SFOG this coming weekend but feel free to PM me any time. We probably won't be in the park until Season Passholder Appreciation Night.

Lake Compounce Discussion Thread

In response to many posts above, I rode Boulder Dash today. It was UNBEARABLE. I love wooden coasters and I don't think any woodie is unbearably rough (including the Holiday World woodies, Cyclone at SFOG, Hurlers, Mean Streak, Gwazi, Timberwolf, The Boss. etc.) but Boulder Dash today was awful. Overall it isn't too bad (just very jarring) but there are multiple spots that really hurt you and the triple up near the end is so painful that I'm shocked they can operate it like that. It was the coaster I was most excited about on my Northeast trip and we rode it twice and decided not to ride it anymore. It was that bad. I honestly think the park shouldn't run it until they fix that one spot at least. Really the entire coaster needs retracked. -
It is not good at other parks. I was told by multiple employees at SFNE that it was good at all parks. I didn't believe it so I requested the Flash Pass manager and they confirmed it was good at all Six Flags properties... I will not be happy if that isn't honored. They sold me on the fact that it was for all parks even after I mentioned the promotion said otherwise. Curious to see what happens but from my interactions with managers it is good at all parks. I never fully trust Six Flags though.

I was at the park today (well yesterday ...Sunday) and it was packed. Your parking pass will work but otherwise go Gold or Platinum Flash Pass but buy it on site if it is busy (I assume it will be). The season Flash Pass is 249 and will work for all of 2017 at all Siix Flags parks but you need to buy a 2017 season pass first to get it. My bf (disclosure gay couple haha) and I will be at the park from opening for a few hours if you want to meet up or say hi. It was packed on Sunday and the ops were terrible so get there early even if you opt for Flash Pass. Feel free to PM me. Hope you have a great day at the park!!! We were at the park yesterday too. We got there about 4 cause we did Lake Compounce first. Flash pass was a must, and I tried to buy the all season flash pass, but I hadn't processed my SFOG 2017 SP yet. Drat... But still paying the money for the gold pass straight was money well spent based on the crowds. Ride operations were terrible as the night progressed, in fact I think we waited 30 minutes for WC in the station alone around 915pm as they were taking like 10 minutes to dispatch a train. And had we known you were there SFOG1991, my bf and I would have introduced ourselves, as it seems we share the same home Six Flags. All in all it was great to get back to SFNE, operations aside. I've never been one to meet up with other enthusiasts randomly but you seem nice and I'm sure it would've been nice to meet you and your bf. We were at Wicked Cyclone at that time too. Do y'all have matching r ings? I noticed two guys with r ings just like ours lol and we prevented those guys from boarding due to our double ride wristband. Small world to have two local SFOG visitors at SFNE the same day. My bf and I agree ops were painfully awful but at least employees were surprisingly friendly. We went to Lake Compounce today (Monday) actually and found Blouder Dash to be great but too rough to enjoy. We rode twice and had to give up. Wildcat was closed. Not the best visit but the park was nice and with retracking we would return without a doubt. We would definitely be open to meeting up at SFOG (or Lake Winnie or Dollywood) sometime. We aren't weird annoying enthusiast types which is always my concern meeting other enthusiasts. Feel free to PM me if y'all want to say hi sometime. We wouldn't mind having nearby friends interested in coasters/parks.

^Fly-O-Plane came from another park in the northeast that closed down in the early 2000s. I hate to say I forget the name. Lake Winnie had one some 50 years ago, got rid of it, then bought the one from that park when it sadly closed. It's the only documented one left in operation. It's a bit intense but amazing. WWII pilots trained on that ride. It has been closed since a kid fell off and was sadly injured a month or 2 ago. Weird incident. This park is basically a small Knobels South. Great park owned by the original owners. Everyone should go here on a Six Flags Over Georgia or Dollywood trip.

I had my first visit to the park Sunday and my review is mixed. The park is nicer and bigger than people make it out to be. It's very generic but nice. I absolutely loved most employees but the ride ops were dreadful. If only the ops were better... the employees are friendly enough as is but WOW ops are so bad the rides can't be fulfilling much more than half their potential. I was underwhelmed by Superman after hearing great things but it's still a top notch older Intimin. WC exceeded my expectations. This park would be great if they stopped with all the policy nonsense, filled the trains, and stopped forcing riders into rows. I was basically attacked on Superman for taking a row I was told I was allowed to have then not moving to another row for no reason when the main op said I couldn't be there. I had to fight it until the other rows were filled. It was painful. The flash pass and season pass processing employees were wonderful though. They trump pretty much any employee in the Six Flags chain even though they were overwhelmed on a busy day with customers confused by 2017 sales offerings. I may seem like I'm complaining but it's really a better park than expected.

I think the Gothams at all the parks should be the examples for the other "lands". It's clearly the one that sells the most Merch. I do disagree with SFOG being the best. I don't drink anything can touch SFOT now. Excluding the cloned rides (Harvey and batman)- SFOG has joker (loop), mind bender (coaster) and crime wave (swing) while SFOT has freeze (great coaster), riddler (best pendulum in county), cat woman (whip ride- I don't like it personally), a little batman spinner ride (a la dumbo), and now they just announced Joker (4D coaster). It's an embarrassment of riches down there. Justice league is fantastic though. I wish SFOT wasn't the first to get it because it has technical problems all the time and I can't help but thing the newer versions have fixed a majority of them. Have you been to Gotham at SFOG? It's definitely more immersive than SFOT and honesty Mind Bender is as good as Mr. Freeze and more unique/historic. I have no doubt SFOT has more thrills in their Gotham City but that's about it. Coming from someone who has been to and loves both parks.

^I was there on the first Sunday of August and with one train ops, most coasters had over an hour wait. It was very disappointing. Other than that, the park was absolutely amazing in every way! -

^I went to Holiday In The Park at SFOG the day before doing Smoky Mountain Christmas at Dollywood and honestly, while Dollywood has more lights and obviously better shows, SFOG goes all out and the park was stunning, I actually enjoyed the themes better since Dollywood doesn't really theme the areas as much, and the show and food offerings at Six Flags were plenty to impress a visitor. HITP is much more impressive than Fright Fest imo and it certainly can hold its own in comparison. Now if SFOG was next door to Dollywood, that would be different. -
^the stations are identical considering when they used both the trains would alternate stations so you would depart from one and return to the other. Makes sense for three train ops and that's why the cubbies for your belongings are open to both stations. They never reprofiled either side of the station to handle an extra car so I don't think there is any reason an additional car would make one side unusable. I'm not 100% positive but I just don't see how that would be the case.

I usually agree with you but I frequent the park and the ops have left a lot to be desired for years now. Sometimes at some rides they are good, but usually they are between decent and terrible. It is a mix between the actual employees operating the rides and the reliability of the rides. I can't think of the last time I was satisfied with the operations and the park is overcrowded most weekends, with hour long lines for food that don't have enough staffing and two hour lines for rides that are not running to full capacity. I mean it isn't unbelievable as many Six Flags parks fail in that area, but it is getting to the point that they really should focus on improving in that department and it would have a tremendous impact on customer satisfaction.

Olympia Looping from Hamburg, Summer 2010

^Of all the Schwarzkopf designs I've been on, the systems are very simple and reliable and the restraints are usually just a basic lap bar that is easy to use and check, so yes for the most part the ops are super fast and even at parks that have slow ops, they are faster on Schwarzkopfs than other rides in the park. Most only have two trains or even one though, so really it depends on that as well, but the process in the station seems very quick. -
I'm kind of surprised they are doing a super loop considering they just did all the flats this year which seemed well rounded already. Nothing wrong with a super loop, I just thought they would focus on something else. The Joker themed super loop at SFOG came out really nicely so I'm sure if they do in fact do a Joker super loop it'll add to the quality of the area.

Thanks for the insight Robb. That's pretty much what I imagined. This coaster is probably near the very top of my bucket list at this point. -

I know right! It must have been designed to work a certain way. I know no other coasters which do this. I assume with the longer trains the experience is more intense, especially towards the back. I know Conneaut Lake Park goes between three and four cars on their three bench car trains and riding in the fourth car is much more insane than when it is running with just three cars. Not sure how exactly this effects pacing and of course it is much different than Olympia Looping. Since Olympia Looping has block sections that probably helps regulate the difference, but I'm sure the drops are more intense in the back with 7 cars. -

SFOG1991 replied to John Peck's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It has a few spots where it is rough but every time I've ridden it, it has been relatively smooth other than a few jolts and the airtime is absolutely insane. The setting is really cool too and night rides are ridiculously awesome. I've never experienced pain on the ride other than one or two jolts along the course which are worth noting because they are a bit severe. -
^If they don't fix Superman now I will be extremely disappointed. SFOG is a great park but operations ruin it and Superman is at the point that it NEEDS to be fixed NOW. If this was a Cedar Fair park Superman would be operating with the dual station and three trains. I don't even like Cedar Fair but they are so good in that particular area and Six Flags needs to step it up a bit. I know people here in Atlanta are giving up on SFOG because it is so overcrowded and under-operated currently. Cheap as dirt season passes, bring a friend free days, etc. are not helping.

I absolutely fell in love with this park (the rides, the setting, some of the employees, the hotel, etc.) when I first visited and have been back a few times since. They are working very hard to save the park and the financial situation is too complex to quickly explain, but remember they are making smart decisions on what to fix up, because they have very limited access to funds. I am sure they would make the entire park gorgeous if they could but the difference from three years ago versus now is amazing! They finally reached operational profitability this summer, but that doesn't include all the money invested into bringing the park back, the basic maintenance, or off season costs. It is a step in the right direction though. Hopefully they can get the tax breaks they deserve or else I don't think they will establish profitability soon enough. The water park reopening has come with a shocking increase in attendance. I knew the locals loved it but WOW it gets more business than the entire dry park I think. I really don't think the dry park alone will ever be profitable in today's society but I hope the water park and plans to open the big indoor year round entertainment center with electric go karts, climbing walls, etc. will be able to profit enough to support the dry ride park's operations as well. As for the rides, Blue Streak is an insanely good classic woodie and the Tumble Bug makes Kennywood's seem like a joke. Such unique awesome rides. -

^I do completely agree with that. I can get over VR on DDD because while I enjoy the ride, I can deal with not riding it as much. If VR was on Goliath, Mind Bender, or really any other coaster in the park I would be disappointed. They just need to make VR a reservation only system that only runs part of the day. It's too bad you didn't get to do Thunder River as it is a stand out in the park in my opinion (very immersive) but I understand your decision. The line does reach two hours if it is backed up to the entrance. It is a long walk through the bamboo forest to get to the station lol. Those are the best seats on GASM so I guess it was just running even worse than usual. It really is a great woodie so hopefully they will just catch up on maintaining it. When it is running smooth the entire experience is beautiful. I'm glad operations were overall good for you because that is the weakest part of the SFOG experience. Their weather policy is all over the place. I've had an unpleasant chat with the director of ride operations about that one. Basically he couldn't give a clear policy and nothing he said made any sense.
