  1. Glad you enjoyed Six Flags Over Georgia. Other than the operations (rides, events, food service, etc.) I am so glad it is my home park as I find the coaster line up to be overall of higher quality and intensity than most parks I travel to visit. I've been on every B&M in the US, and I completely agree, Goliath is by far the best B&M hyper. The airtime is strong and it even ejects you on the last set of bunny hills. Plus, the helix is very intense and gains intensity instead of fading in intensity as you reach the end of it. I mostly agreed 100% with your reviews except that I love GASM and don't find it rough in non-wheel seats. I do agree it has some jackhammering in the valleys at times. That can be fixed and hopefully will be because when it is smooth the airtime is even more noticeable and it is a great classic. Did you ride Thunder River? I find it to be one of the best rapids rides and definitely the most realistic. In some areas you can't even tell it's a rapids ride, it just looks like a natural river. The rapids at the end are the best I've ever seen on a rapids ride and the approach is great. Anyways, glad you enjoyed the park and I agree Superman is a complete mess at the moment (It was built with a dual station and three train ops so it is very frustrating) and Dare Devil Dive is a lot of fun but VR has ruined it. Anyone who complains about VR at other Six Flags parks have no idea how bad it really could be. Your capacity calculation is absolutely correct, and usually half those people are flash pass. If the line is at the bottom of the ramp into the station, expect a two hour wait.
  2. What kind of name is Sally Coorperation for an amusement park ride manufacturer. That alone makes it sound, mmmm, how do i say....... Lame!...thinking Sally should sit this one out. They are responsible for the majority of awesome dark rides though. Sally Corp. is nothing to laugh at and has been producing quality rides for a long time now.
  3. I kind of figured this would come hand in hand with the expansion of Cedar Point's water park. Very sad to see the entire Geauga Lake property and all its history die.
  4. Cedar Fair parks drive me crazy with this... they removed so many trees from Carowinds and now they are like "oh.. we have no shade.. we need trees" Any trees planted will be a welcome addition though.
  5. This is SO true! I have had no interest in going back to Carowinds this year but I will be all over it next year just because of the top scan. I rode the same model at a large fair here in Georgia and it was mind blowing. We marathoned it for two hours and got so disoriented we had to stop. It's such an intense ride!
  6. The ride additions are fantastic but if the new entrance is anything like what was done at Carowinds, I'll be really disappointed. Carowinds had such a pretty entrance and now it is just a treeless wasteland with tons of gray and concrete (obviously Fury being there is the plus). I really liked WoF's entrance when I visited the park a few weeks ago and I hope the new entrance will maintain the charm the rest of the park still surprisingly has. I really liked the current entrance gate (although I felt like it could use a really nice big sign of the park's name over it)
  7. So far SFOG has included every major coaster except for Ninja and Great American Scream Machine (although I think they stopped offering Superman last year). The park president said the entire park would be included but those few attractions still aren't. I hope they end up utilizing the entire park in the future because it is usually busy and Lickskillet would look awesome in lights. I have a feeling Carowinds will make their offering very limited but hopefully it'll include most of the major rides. They better turn off the trims on Intrimidator or else we might see that thing valley. Fury in extremely cold temperatures would be awesome!
  8. The only problem is some parks already have batman themed rides so it would be redundant. I meant if they had all been custom in the first place. Just dreaming here.
  9. ^It's cool to imagine if every Six Flags park had a B&M invert with the Batman name and theme but all different, custom layouts.
  10. Like I said, it happened in 2012 after a 6 year hiatus so really anything is possible but it certain isn't something we should expect. Also, comparing to 2012, Six Flags is doing so many clones and RMC reprofiles I don't think they are really looking for other options at the moment, but you never know!
  11. ^Probably not, but maybe we will get lucky and Six Flags will realize Cedar Fair is onto something by adding B&Ms as they are capacity monsters and have long term reliability and quality. Isn't X-Flight at Six Flags Great America the only B&M added to the chain since Goliath at SFOG and La Ronde in 2006? I don't think the chances are that high, but X-Flight kind of came out of no where so there is always a chance I guess...
  12. ^You have to pay for haunts at all Six Flags parks prior to this announcement. It appears only Fiesta Texas is making them free, and not the other parks in the chain. I would've never expected this from Six Flags, but of all the parks, Fiesta Texas is definitely a stand out in terms of efficiencies and it is nice to see them step away from the normal "we charge extra for everything" model that the rest of the chain follows. I just wonder how this will affect lines for haunts. Sure, everyone loves free, but there is a balance between cost and crowds and honestly if charging a fee for a haunt pass keeps the lines from being unbearable, I am all for it. If Fiesta Texas has the capacity to make all haunts free though, that is awesome and certainly not something I would expect from any Six Flags park.
  13. This is great. I have played RCT3 since it was released and became very savvy with custom content but I haven't played in a little over a year. Looks like I know who to ask about the best downloads for realism. I love realistic parks but since I last played the customization of rides has improved even more.
  14. I'm the same way. I usually do about 100 strands of lights total in my display (Not sure how many lights that is but it is a lot. I do a very classy set up so I don't think it is obnoxious but it is a lot haha) and it takes me at least a month and I try to have it ready for the day after Thanksgiving. I was just surprised the park doesn't have an outside company come in and do it. It seemed like it was a job given to a small team of staffed maintenance employees. If so, I am guessing they start early and it is a job they do between other things they run into normally. Anyways, considering they weren't a part of a separate lighting company I was very impressed by the detail efforts they put into making sure all the bulbs are perfectly aimed in the same direction and everything was so perfectly ruler straight. It looked beautiful and as much as I love Dollywood during the holidays I wish I could see SDC during the holidays too!
  15. Random but while at the park two weeks I noticed maintenance guys stringing lights and struck up a conversation. They made it sound like this was all done in house so I don't think they are contractors, and they told me it takes over three months for their team to put up all the lights for the holiday event. The level of detail was impressive but it seems like hell stringing lights for Christmas in the blazing August sun.
  16. Same. I usually have to sit slightly forward and flex my core so hard to keep from being absolutely stapled into my seat to the point of discomfort. That's my strategy when I ride the Screamin' Swings. Not because I'm uncomfortable, I just like to be loose on those rides . Speaking of Screamin' Swings, do ride operators push the lap bars down on Barnstormer? As far as I can recall, yes. In fact I feel like they don't want you to do anything and they do your entire restraint for you. That's how it was at Silver Dollar City last week and I think it was the same at Dollywood (I should know considering I frequent Dollywood but I can't remember). I find those S&S restraints harder to fake than most. No matter what I do, they always get them down tighter when they check. A loose ride on a screamin' swing is great though.
  17. Same. I usually have to sit slightly forward and flex my core so hard to keep from being absolutely stapled into my seat to the point of discomfort.
  18. Are they just converting/replacing their old mat racer like Six Flags White Water did this year? If so, that's a bummer for me because I can already ride this at White Water and I liked how Splash Country had the classic version with the airtime hops still. It makes sense to upgrade the slide and I'm sure it'll go over well though.
  19. Actually, it is under private ownership. The park was privatized when Blair County sold it to the Boyer Candy Company in 1985. I agree on the classic rides thing, but the atmosphere of the park itself didn't feel historic at all, except for being on the lake near the Casino. It felt more akin to a permanent carnival, literally, with how the asphalt paths and gravel were laid out. There is good reason why there is only two Toboggans left. I agree it doesn't have historic charm but that is gone now and won't come back so I guess we can't dwell on it too much. I would much prefer if it had the look and feel of Conneaut Lake Park, as that is a comparable park that has a much nicer setting and more history left, but it is what it is. As for Toboggan, I thought it was awesome but I know I am in a minority with that opinion. I didn't find it rough but I did find it very intimidating. I know the park is privatized but there must be something or someone funding them or cutting their taxes. There is just no way this park would survive the way it is. Entry is super cheap and even free some days and they operate a decent line up of rides which must be costly. Anyways, I hope the park survives long term and it would be nice if they could get in a position where they could improve the park. The ground themselves are perfect for a park, so if the money was there it could be beautified I'm sure. I'll take it the way it is versus not at all though.
  20. I know what you mean. After riding voyage it was one, two, three hard punches to my kidneys I've never experienced any major rough moments on their coasters but I have heard stories about all three getting worn down near the end of the season. When I went to HoliWood Nights last year, they were all running very smooth considering how intense and hectic the layouts are. Not butter smooth but nothing painful. I totally get it though. My bf loves intense woodies but he could only handle Legend and Voyage so many times in a row.
  21. I did this because I love experiencing as many parks and coasters as possible. SFA isn't as bad as people make it out to be and Superman and Wild One are both worth going out of the way a bit for, but honestly you will probably regret not having more time at KD. I have been to KD 4 times and I cut a day in half for SFA once, and the drive took much longer than expected because there is always construction and traffic between the two parks. The only way I would suggest cutting KD short for SFA is if you start at KD and feel satisfied enough to leave or if you visit KD enough that you know you will be back soon. KD can be a half day park with Fast Lane Plus but it isn't nearly as enjoyable as a full day.
  22. When it opened it had 4 hour waits and even a slow day this year it averages a 45 minute wait. It's a huge draw for the park. This. I was in Kansas City on a coaster trip and was planning to go to the park over the weekend, but pushed plans back to Monday (which obviously didn't happen) and the reason I was going was for Verrückt followed by Storm Blaster. From my understanding after browsing their rides, there really isn't much else that stands out over Oceans of Fun (which just so happens to include the entire dry park as well.. a much more enticing deal). If it weren't for Verrückt and Storm Blaster, I would've had no interest in going. All sadness from this horrific incident aside, I do hope I will get back to Kansas City soon to check out this park and ride both of these slides. Just drive over to Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN and ride their 2 huge water coasters (Mammoth and Wildebeest) if you haven't already. Best water coasters in the world. Both last 2 1/2 minutes, HUGE multiple airtime. I was just there the past 2 days. Rode Mammoth 5 times and Wildebeest 4 times (most airtime is in back seat). No more than a 20 minute wait on weekdays for both, especially Tuesday-Thursday, especially the single rider lines. Water park also includes the amusement park with a few of the best coasters in the world like Thunderbird and Voyage. I have been to Holiday World and it is one of my favorite parks. I plan to go to HoliWood Nights every year I am able to. Great park and yes their water coasters are the best water park attractions I've experienced.
  23. I had no idea this slide existed and it looks absolutely insane! Do you ride one at a time or like... bundled together in a row with a friend? I thought you mentioned something like that. Anyways... this looks awesomely terrifying.
  24. I had a great time at Lakemont when I visited. Keep in mind, this park isn't a normal park and I believe it is run under special circumstances with government funding and/or tax exemptions. Sure, the park isn't pretty or investing heavily in upgrades, but it still has some really cool classic rides including the world's oldest coaster and a few other vintage coasters, all of which I found to be a unique and overall enjoyable experience. I actually loved the Toboggan and I believe it is just one of two left now.
  25. ^To me that just means that our park can easily afford a clone. They don't have any except for Batman now, and it isn't like the general public would know the difference. SFOG has no competition. Also, keep in mind Déjà Vu and Viper were clones. Superman wasn't at the time but it has been cloned and that doesn't stop it from being a stand out at the park, much like Batman is still a stand out at the park for the average guest. I hope we get something unique but there is really no reason decision makers will insist on custom over a clone, unless they are going for something of a very large scale that will become a long term stand out for the park, much like Goliath has been and still is.
