We've been quite a few times. This would strictly be a trip to focus on LR. -
Dollywood Discussion Thread

My girlfriend and are are seriously contemplating dropping everything tomorrow or Sunday, driving the 4.5 hours to Dollywood, riding Lightning Rod for a few hours, and then immediately drive right back 4.5 hours. The only thing holding us back right now is the thought of it closing when we are 3/4 of the way there. -

Do big parks (Cedar Fair) purchase from other local big parks (Hersheypark) with the intention of moving the item to their park? I can't think of an example where a major US park company has purchased a ride from another major US park company with the intention of moving the ride to one of their parks. I'm sure many exist, but I can't think of any. -

Call the park. That will give you a quicker answer that you know is correct. -
I understand if you all are busy right now seeing that it's in the middle of the park season right now but is there any chance the mods could have a powwow about having this thread changed to a full Lake Winnie discussion thread? I love this little park and think it may draw a little more attention its way. Thanks, cfc!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Why are people still saying, "Centurion"? I thought it was common knowledge that the trademark for Centurion was not accepted because someone else already owns the name? Nope! Cedar Fair still owns the trademark to Centurion since 2013 and actually just recently filed for an extension as of May 2016 (and it was granted): http://www.trademarkia.com/centurion-86094874.html With that said, Banshee is not owned by Cedar Fair but rather Kings Island Park LLC. So I do not think Centurion would be the name of this ride as it is not trademarked with the other rides in the park, but rather the chain overall (not to mention it does not fit any of the teasers or anything to do with the woods at all). OK, I'm extremely confused because I *know* I read on that same webpage a couple of years ago that the trademark was suspended. Did Cedar Fair purchase the rights? No clue! I never remember seeing that but do know some people reported it as such. Not sure what happened but I'm assuming something will happen with the name eventually (or hopefully, because that's a decent penny to spend on something and not use it!) I certainly saw it so the people who reported it are not just bringing that up out of thin air. Cedar Fair may have fought it (or bought it). -

If something is closed for an extended period of time, it will always show "Permanently Closed." Just like when you look up amusement parks in the off season, they show the same thing. -

I'm confused as well. It appears to be about 100 feet tall and appears to have a 360 degree simulation video. What Hershey will put on those screens is what baffles me. -

ACE has a discount, I believe. -
The calendar on KK's website is saying that the park is open on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 11-7. Did you get your information from the park? Might be worth looking into again. Hope you have a good time in Louisville. I've been here for nearly 10 years since starting school at UofL in '07. There's plenty of great food and experiences here. Hopefully you can get out and see a few (one of which being a football game so there's one down haha). Whoa! Either it changed, or I read it wrong (probably the latter).

They are only open 2 Saturdays in September anyways so you need to check the UofL schedule and KK. But Go Cats I guess I should rephrase my question. I checked the KK schedule when FSU's schedule was first released and the park was open. Now they are not. I'm just curious if this is because someone rented the park out or if they just always close during UL big games? I can't imagine that they would need to be closed during those games. The portion of the parking lot used for tailgating isn't anywhere near the portion used for KK. There are plenty of gates on Crittenden/Preston for tailgaters and the one on Phillips for KK visitors. I think this is just the case of the park being bought out. To be honest, that late in the season, it's probably best for them to justify leaving the park open with a buyout as crowds would probably be tremendously light. Given that the game is at Noon, you would lose the best (least crowded) time to be at the park when it opens Saturday. If you can swing it, try to make it early Sunday, you should be able to take advantage of the out of state discount. Get in and out in a couple of hours, get your money's worth, and be on your way home. Will this be your first time to Louisville? If so, let me know if you need any suggestions for food or other activities. Thanks for the reply. It will be my first time. I may take you up on that suggestion for recommendations as we get closer. That's the thing... when I checked a few months ago, the park was rented out for Sunday. So I just assumed I would run in there for a few on Saturday, get my credits, and head out. Now the park is rented out BOTH days. Oh, well. Sounds like either Holiday World or Kings Island for me. I haven't been to either park, as well.
