  1. Before the all-but-official RMC conversion of GC, I was thinking 2018 could have been repainting GS and a floorless conversion, a la Mantis/Rougarou at Cedar Point... an opportunity for marketing a "new" ride, and high exposure up front, too. Granted, I'd guess it's not a cheap conversion, but surely they are aware load/unload on our GS is the worst one of all the stand ups. (That's for real.) The ride is so good! It just needs some attention, just like Ninja/Blue Hawk did. Under-rated, IMO. Fresh paint, two floorless trains, loading station re-do... boom I don't want them to convert it, the ride is probably the best Stand Up coaster out their. All it needs is a reapint, as for dispatchs, we were their on Wednsedsy and they dispatched our train in under two minutes, next train took like 5, it's more of the GP holding the dispatches up than it is anything else, how people don't understand that you have to STAND on a STAND UP coaster is rather perplexing.
  2. They were too busy repainting Blue Hawk and Superman, neither of which really needed it. I understand why they painted both a rename for Blue Hawk and Superman got it because of Justice League going next door, but Scorcher clearly needs it more than any other ride.Golitha is fading, but still looks presentable.
  3. The problem is Ninja desperately needed it, it's been a while since I've been on Viper, but even from what I've seen and read it's not riding near as bad as Ninja was at it's peak of suckiness.
  4. And Blizzard River usually doesn't open until 11:30 . . . . . (I actually have ridden it a couple times this season, of course with my water shoes on, as I don't want to walk around with soggy shoes/socks). But yeah, more shade would be nice. Summers in Maryland can get hot at times (but rarely into triple digits) As someone from the south that's use to heat, I was shocked when I visited D.C last summer with the humidity, I always thought the further north you went, the less humid it got, especially in the summer.
  5. Yea forgot about that one.. Honestly, now that the VR is off of it this season DDD isn't that bad considering it's a Eurofighter, I mean have the fastest crew you can find, and the capacity of a eurofighter is going to be subpar regardless, I think behind Mindbender, DDD actually has the most efficient crew in the park.
  6. I mean a lot of the other parks are busier or just as busy as Georgia during it's peak, the only park that a Eurofighter wouldn't be a nightmare capacity wise is probably Six Flags America.
  7. Dollywood has a hell of a stellar lineup without LR. I mean TN Tornado, Firechaser, Wild Eagle, Thunderhead and Mystery Mine are all really good rides, plus you have a new Drop Tower, tons of shows and awesome food. I mean yea Lightning Rod is a can of kick ass and a great ride, and makes any day better, but it's not like if it's not opened people are being forced to ride a lineup of awful rides.
  8. Something must have been wrong with one of Goliaths train, because it's always two trains.
  9. I just spent 12 amazing hours at KI.. I'm too tired to go into details tonight, but I kind of have a new number one wooden, well it's more of a tie for number one.
  10. This is the issue with every big wooden coaster that ultimately has to be torn down or converted. Hercules, Mean Streak, Old Texas Giant, etc... they were all amazing when they opened and for at least a few years following, but the parks cheaped out with basic maintenance until it was too late. Such a tremendous waste. I hate to see people begging for wooden coasters to be torn out or converted when all it really needs is some track work. I wish the original RMC idea - the track replacement concept, would have taken off more. What ever happened to that? The only topper track I've been on is Tremors. Unless you sit in the front seat and look very closely you cannot tell the difference between the original and the topper track. I didn't ride it before the topper track installations so maybe someone more familiar with the ride could have noticed the rough spots becoming smooth. As far as I know Silverwood never marketed this upgrade (and was a test site for RMC). It might be difficult for a park not located virtually next door to RMC to get significant return on investment for replacing worn out track with new track of the exact same alignment (unless needed to keep the ride operable). New track with crazier twists is more marketable ... I rode Georgia Cy Clone a few years ago (before the topper track) and did not enjoy it, not even in the front seat. Looking forward to seeing what RMC is going to do, assuming that is the plan. The front is my preference for Cyclone, it gives amazingly smooth rides in the front, I have a soft spot for Cyclone, it has some amazing airtime, and if most people consider Cyclone the roughest coaster at SFOG I'd say that's more of a reflection on how smooth the majority of their rides are, and not how rough Cyclone is.
  11. I bet it's increased it if only a little, people I'll swear up and down they'll never ride something again, but the second announced that it's closing, they'll want to get their last rides in.
  12. One's most likely going to SFOG as well.
  13. Me and my best friend are going next Saturday, we figured it would be better crowd wise the weekend after the 4th,instead of the weekend before the 4th.
  14. I mean if you're on a time crunch and you're visiting a park you never have, and don't know when you'll be back in the area, I would say they're a must. I drove to D.C to visit family last year, and got a good deal on a fast lane + and single ticket combo for Kings Dominon, while the park wasn't slammed it did get me multiple rides on Volcano, which is low capacity, and while I didn't really need it for most of the other rides, it did give me more rerides than I would have gotten had I waited in the 10-15 min stand by lines. Now, if I'm going to one of my local parks ( Dollywood, SFOG) then I know not to go at peak times unless unavoidable, and those will be the only instances I would get a flash pass in though situations.
  15. They really are awesome, we just got one at Georgia this year as well. I'm just worried how well they'll be maintained chain wide.
  16. This should be awesome!! Maybe if it goes well, they can make this a summer ritual.
  17. It didn't bomb financially, but I don't think the reception was as good as they were hoping for. Criticially it was torn apart, and the general reception was more meh than say the reception for Wonder Woman has been.
  18. I actually think the splintered wood and peeling paint fit Cyclone perfectly. As much as an I-Box Cyclone would probably kick ass, I wish they would just build a custom one from the ground up, and leave Cyclone and Scream Machine as is.
  19. If you count the switchbacks, the one in Georgia could be extremely long, fortunately it's almost never that busy in fact outside of Fright Fest I don't remember seeing them used in forever. You go through a small Gotham section, into two storm drains, and the stairs right up to the station. I never really thought the Batman queue was that bad at St.Louis, The Boss was worse, and compared to American Eagle at SFGAM, it's a cakewalk.
  20. I know if it ever happens, it's a while out.. But with KD's getting RMC Hurler, if they ever do the Carowinds version, do you think they will just copy the KD's version, or go with another custom layout?? I know RMC hasn't reprofiled any rides that were duplicate rides as of yet.
  21. It seems they're ditching it all or most of the parks..I know Georgia, Great Adventure and St.Louis have ditched their virtual reality, I wanna say Great America has as well.
  22. Even if they were employees I don't see how it's Six Flags fault, if someone robs the gas station down the road when they get off work, are they going to sue the park in that case as well?? If it happened on park property then I would understand, I mean I feel awful for the guy, and he should be compensated, just not by the park.
  23. Mike High Falls would fall under the Shoot the Chute category.
  24. According to the website, Justice League is: "THE FLASH Pass Platinum only with a reservation." I had a platinum FP yesterday, and didn't have to reserve my time for Justice League, it was only one ride, but I got to choose it whenever I was ready.
  25. Hurler made pretty good sense back in the '90s if you got all of the references. When the ride opened, the SNL skits and movies weren't obscure; they were wildly popular & made sense as the movies were from Paramount Pictures. I've been on Hurler at Carowinds, besides the Stan Mikitas (sp) restaraunts out front, was there a lot of theming to waynes world in the paramount days?? There used to be a special recording of Wayne's World that Myers & Carvey did for the coaster that would play in the queue's many TVs, the station was themed to the old doll factory that the duo moved into after Wayne left his parents' basement in the movies, there was the big "No Way" (one of their catchphrases) giant road sign symbol on the pavement in front of the entrance, Wayne & Garth frequently used euphemisms for vomiting, the nearby rock shop had a ton of Aerosmith merch (one of their favorite bands), there was Stan Mikita's as you mentioned, and perhaps even more. It was a dedicated theme that just started to get phased out as the years went by, the parks expanded further, the characters fell out of the spotlight, and eventually the Cedar Fair acquisition of KI & KD pulled the plug on the direct tie-ins. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwcxVlkYMpw That's awesome!! I was 5 when the first one came out and my Dad and me would watch it on video a lot, even though all the jokes went over my head, I even use to schwing at all the college girls at our apartment pool, and they all though it was adorable coming from a 5 year old, I'd be arrested and charged with obscenity if I did it at my age now.
