  1. People like you make me cringe, to the point I hate considering myself an enthusiast. To take a hobby to the point where you're calling people dumb because they don't notice something so obvious to you or me; is taking it too far in my opinion. I now keep this gif on my desktop as I feel it's use just sums up my feelings perfectly. It's obvious to people with eyes and able to think.
  2. No, they are dumb. They can obviously see bright new steel track on what was a wood coaster. What thinking person would think new track means it's being torn down? There is also the fact that you don't need to be precise and exacting if it's being completely torn down. They can tear down a wood coaster really quick if you have no need to save parts or relocate it. They could just wrecking ball it over the off season.
  3. RMC Mean Streak will likely have capacity similar to New Tx Giant which is listed as 1600/hr. 3 trains, 24 passengers per train. Of course with SF's poor operations it gets way less than spec. CF operations will have it running at a very high capacity.
  4. That thread is on Raptors/Trex concept. This is about RMC announcing they have 7 new coasters in 2018. Not the same, if you actually read the link, the title of the thread, etc..
  5. http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2017/07/news-profile-points-to-busy-2018-for.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter The known projects are RMC Mean Streak and RMC Hurler. 5 other projects unknown on what parks are getting them. 1 of the projects is known to be going to Japan, hopefully the rest are US based. Local Video on RMC - pretty good local story. http://www.kxly.com/features/made-in-the-northwest/made-in-the-northwest-rocky-mountain-construction/586841280
  6. That's solved very easily. Post signs that say use of phones on rides will result in ejection from the park, no debate, no refund. Enforce on a few idiots and publicize it, problem solved.
  7. Anybody with eyes knows they are a cheap ride, ie..a SF ride. It's the same crappy seats you get on a standard swing ride. uncomfortable and cheap. The quality level of any popup carnival swing ride. The restraint is the same as standard swing rides for 50 years, a cross pole slides down the chain and a button seat belt clasp. It's held by chains, again just like a standard 50ft swing ride have done forever. It's a cheap made ride, that's a fact. It's hardly the craftsmanship of a Windseeker.
  8. Starflyers/Skyscreamers are a cheaply made ride. They are same essentially as the standard 50fy swinging chair ride, they just are taller. They are not a solidly built/design ride like a Windseeker. The light arrays on Windseekers are also far better. Funtime Starflyers are about 1/2 the cost of a Mondial Windseeker and it's obvious why in comparing the craftsmanship, design, etc.. of the rides.
  9. That's considered a "pattern"? Seems just a coincidence to me. But ok . . . Cedar Point getting a Rougarou and then Valravyn was expected. Floorless conversions are pretty cheap and CP is the flagship park. CGA getting Patriot and then whatever in 2018 to me means whatever coaster order for parks CF has, a floorless conversion doesn't change your place in it. It's treated like getting a flat. The only park that got back to back coasters before was CP before CGA (the 7th or 8th best park in the chain) in 2017, 2018. One would expect the same for Carowinds 2019, 2020.
  10. The ride is definitely better than Knott's Voyage, and on par with DCA's Toy Story ride. But this type of ride makes more sense for a younger crowd, which works at a Disney park, but seems kind of random at a park like Magic Mountain. I'm not saying people won't ride it once they're at the park, but to think this is going to attract a crowd over 15 years old *to come out and actually visit the park for it* is stretching it a bit. And guess who spends the most money at parks? Families.... Magic Mountain will make more money off the 15 year kid whose whole family tags along than they will a teenager who shows up and doesn't spend a penny besides their initial pass purchase (or monthly payment)... Except SFMM has neglected family stuff for over a decade. That's how SF Corporate thinks about all the parks except MM and Gadv. Both neglect family rides in general and have not gotten family friendly flats. I believe the last flats for both were 450 and 400 ft drop towers. not family friendly at all It's never too late to balance out the park. And with Six Flag's limited spending the past few years, that's probably what's about the happen anyway. I'm guessing next year will be another non coaster year as the park adds flats or kids rides instead. Six Flags limited spending is not a few years, it's been since bankruptcy. It's all based on a formula since bankruptcy. It's here to stay and their EBIDTA is great. There is no way they are changing and said so in their investor presentation. People just didn't notice the limited spending b/c 2011-2016 b/c they were adding RMC's, YOLOcoaster, Xflight. Now that it's 4D's and superloops everywhere people seem to notice and think this is pull back. They are actually spending slightly more money each year since bankruptcy they are just spending on cloned garbage to a large extent. Oh no, we've noticed, trust me. It's still a far cry from that Thomas Town, Wiggles nonsense from the Shapiro years. The limited spending now is yielding things their parks have needed since forever. Dark rides, family rides, waterpark additions, flat rides., breathing new life into old, beat up coasters. This is a GOOD thing. Well.. except for enthusiasts that miss 25 million dollar mediocre B&Ms every other year. The thing is they have a done horrible job. The parks are literally becoming all the same. They have to gimmick rides as their supposed "flagship rides" that are not going to hold up to time. JL's are a video game, people and kids lose interest in video games quickly. I an tell you know 1 year after JL's in some parks the line is nothing, it's a virtual walk on at some parks. 4D's lines are just b/c the capacity stinks, the thing gets less than 500/hr in reality though spec is 720/hr Finally, the parks that need flat rides the most SFFMM and GAdv haven't gotten them and the parks that need coasters badly Stl. LaRonde, SFA haven't gotten nothing. SF is essentially banking on the people in these areas will keep buying passes and allowing themselves to be "abused" and neglected by SF, by getting year after year of poor additions
  11. Loose articles kill operations, SF operations already are poor b/c of their poor staffing. I would have no problem with banning all loose articles on every ride. People don't need all the crap they carry and then take their leisurely time putting away their stuff. Get a locker or leave the crap in the car.

  13. Cedar Fair's pattern has been to do the floorless conversion and then a new coaster the next year. Happened at Cedar Point and CGA. Vortex Conversion 2019 and 2020 ground up coaster. Couple of things working against RMC Hurler at Carowinds are they are doing Hurler at KD. Second, the park needs to add to their coaster count. I could actually see them getting a launch coaster or a B&M wing coaster, maybe a GCI, but less likely.

  15. There are no JL's in 2018 according to Sally Corp, so that's off the list. Put your money on the water coaster, SF is going to make it the next thing that's at every park.
