Gotta love six flags on Sunday!! I am always able to ride rides back to back on Sundays BC the low crowds! Lol I had a Platinum Pass, Batman was all the way out to the garden fountain, and only one train. I was surprised being the first Sunday in the season how crowded it was, It wasn't like Saturday in July crowded, but I feel like I got my moneys worth with my flash pass. Mindbender, Batman only had one train, Daredevil only had two out of 4 trains going.Operations were a little spotty, sometimes Goliath would dispatch before the second train even hit the brake run, other times it would be a couple of minutes, Scorcher was same old same old, Althought given how short it is, and how dumb the GP is, I'm a little more lenient on how long it takes because no matter how many times the ops tell people to stand up, you have one of two that don't listen.

Speaking of hypers, Which is better Diamondback or Intimitador?? I'm visiting Kings Island this summer, and my favorite ride of all time is a B&M Hyper ( Goliath), unfortunaly the other two I've been on ( Intimitador & Raging Bull) were extremlt dissapointing, I'm hoping Diamondback delivers. -
I'm curious, I'm not sure if this has been bought up yet or not, but why are they just now starting construction?? I can understand certain parks starting later because of weather etc.. but TX while it gets cold at times, probably has some of the nicer weather during the winter months, it seems like they could have started earlier and been open at the start of the season.

Most Disappointing Coaster!
beenagins87 replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Out of the 5 major coasters at Dollywood [ Mystery Mine, TN Tornado, Thunderhead, Wild Eagle, Firechaser] Mystery Mine happened to be my least favorite, I liked the theming, but it was rough, especially when you compare it to Daredevil Dive. Supringsly, my favorite ride was Firechaser Express -

I'm hoping Fury is going to be a solid ride, because Carowinds has one of the least exciting line ups of a major park I've been to. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

When I was younger, I use to hear about wooding roller coasters being turned backwards [ Racer, Colossus etc] I thought that meant they went backwards through the course, not that the trains were turned backwards. -

If you were to put lap bar only restraints on Mystery Mine it would be a fantastic ride, its just to rough as it is, great theming or not. -
Has this been confirmed at the park? I'm still holding out hope that it's a poor wording on their website because Superman was the one ride that made SFMM's Flash Pass actually worth buying to me. I'm down with the no riding twice in a row thing, but once per visit? For a ride that's nearing 20 years old?? That's insane. And the Platinum is $110!! For that much money, I'd be better off spending the day at Disneyland. I'm really do hope that what they're trying to say is that both rides are actually available now on all flash pass levels, just with the restriction that you can't ride twice on Platinum. (One can hope, right?) But then again, Six Flags is known for doing silly, unreasonable things all the time, so it's probably the worst-case scenario. The wording is exactly the same as that found on Six Flags Great America's website for Goliath, and I know from experience that Platinum was required and it was one ride with Flash Pass, period. I have to assume the same policy will exist at SFMM for YOLOcoaster and Superman. I understand the reasoning behind it, as YOLOcoaster has been there long enough that few people would probably still buy an upcharge for it yet the ride has capacity issues, and Superman is probably the park's lowest capacity coaster and still routinely posts hour-plus waits despite it's age. Personally I'm more surprised that they still have the X2 upcharge, but I guess since many GP visitors regard that as the most insane ride ever there are still plenty of people wiling to buy it. I visited SFGAM in July, got a Platinum pass and got 2 rides on Goliath, which surprised me because I thought going in it was just going to be one.

Importance of Theming
beenagins87 replied to Hayzle's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still think Batman has great theming, and by far the best in the park (and majority of Six Flags parks). I think the biggest problem isn't what has been removed, but rather years of poor maintenance ruining what was there in the first place. One of the wonderful elements of the original theming was the beautiful landscaping that made the queue feel like an actual park. Over the years most of the trees, plants, and grass have died without being replanted, the once working fountain has deteriorated into an ugly slab of concrete, and the area has just become generally grimier. Also they removed all of the debris and the police car that used to be in the line for some reason when they repainted it yellow. As for Bizarro, the fire effect rarely works and neither does the onboard audio (which almost never functioned properly) at this point. If anything Bizarro in SFNE had more theming removed. The flamethrower was moved down to Texas, the mist ringy dingy ding-a-ling dings are almost always deactivated, and I don't think the onboard audio even exists anymore. God forbid if the animatronics in Justice League: Battle For Metropolis ever break down! I believe Great America is the only one that still has their police car??? Or am I wrong?? Of the four Batmans I've been on SFOG had the best landscaping and theming, while SFSTL had the worst. I can't really give my opinion on the one at SFGAM because I used a flash pass both days so I completely bypassed the theming pretty much. -

Raging Bull.. I love B&M Hypers in general, and I was super stoked and was expecting it to be my favorite ride behind Goliath at SFGAM. It was decent, and the first drop is killer, but it's neutered beyond that. -
Ride that Makes You (a bit) Sick
beenagins87 replied to coasternate's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flyers usually make me queasy, Nighthawk is the only one I've actually thrown up after riding, and I think it had more to do with the 100 degree weather than anything. Strangely, S:UF at SFGAM didn't make me queasy at all this summer, of course it was 70 degrees and no humidity, so maybe it's just flyer in heat. -
The Control Panel Enthusiast Thread

Is the Batman theme music the only music?? I went to Great America this summer, and their Batman station had Kiss from a Rose on a continuous loop, I didn't know if all Batmans had the same music or not. -
I would have to say it's unlikely. Space in the park is extremely limited due to the interstate and the river bordering two sides of the park. As well, there is little room for expansion. Also, Hurricane Harbor is said to have more phases to be built with the first being the one that opened in 2014. Ninja would be the first to go if anything, so if a said coaster were to happen it would be in that area. As for greater than 200 feet, it would have to be in that section of the park. The only way they were able to construct a 242 foot SkyScreamer was because of the lower elevation in the back of the park. There is a regional airport just down the interstate that restricts height at SFOG to 200 feet or less at the equivalent of their highest elevation. They can build greater than 200, but it had to be placed at a lower elevation and not be greater than 200 feet would be at the parks highest point. I hope that makes sense. I know a lot of people give wing riders crap, but I think an X Flight clone in Ninjas spot would be a wonderful addition. Because let's face it outside of Ninja, SFOG has one of the most well rounded collections.. A hyper almost everyone loves, A B&M Stand Up that is arguably the best or second best to most people, Mindbender, The chains only Eurofighter, Batman, Most people think our Superman has the best theming and landscaping that give it the edge over the other two.I really don't think anyone would cry if Ninja was removed, I know people who don't necessarily mind it, but I don't think I have come across anyone that has more than a meh reaction to it.

Absolutely. Cedar Point's policy is excellent. They wait about 10 minutes on just about every major ride, even rides like Iron Dragon get a grace period. Cedar Point also has the benefit so many workers living in dorms. Easier to keep the employees if they don't have to commute. Yeah, GADV only gives housing to its international workers. In other news somewhat related to workers, the neon yellow uniforms are supposed to be replaced by all new blue uniforms this year so be on the lookout. They didn't get them last year?? SFOG & SFGAM switched to the blue last year, I wouldn't have been surprised if it was the bastard park [ SFA] that didn't switch to this year, but I would think SFGAdv would have been one of the first since it's one of the top 3, If not top 2 parks in the chain. Umm... SFA had blue uniforms in 2014. You guys need to give that park the credit it deserves. Especially if you haven't been there since ~2011, that park has become arguably one of the better parks in the chain, given its size and the cards it was dealt in the mid-2000's. Just my opinion. I never said they didn't have the blue shirts, I said I wouldn't have been surprised if they were the last ones to get the blue shirts, and regardless of how much it has improved it's still the bastard chain, they're finally getting a " coaster " this year that isn't a 10+yr old relocated coaster.

Will B&M ever top the charts?
beenagins87 replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been on 2 of the 3 us Wingriders [ Wild Eagle & X-Flight] and I agree they are glass smooth, the restrains though were a bit tight at times, especially on Wild Eagle. -
I went in the middle of July on a Sunday and Monday, and both days it was packed.. Is Great America always that busy year around?? or is it because of Goliath?? I had a great time as I had a gold flash pass on Sunday, and a platinum on Monday, but seeing a posted 45 min wait for Batman on a Monday, when I go to SFOG on a Monday and can pretty much ride it non stop with no line was sort of shocking.
