If Top Gun/Afterburn was themed to Godzilla, Cedar Fair would have to name it "The Beast"! It would have probably been one ugly looking coaster, it's strange Green is one of my favorite colors, but I think it's atrocious looking on most coasters, I could just imagine a Godzilla Green coaster. Tony Clark must be crying right now. Yea Raptor is hideous looking imo, same with Hyrda, in fact the only green scheme coaster I like it Riddlers Revenge. -

Parks that Don't Get Crowded
beenagins87 replied to coasternate's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Excluding holidays that happen to fall on a weekday, SFOG is pretty dead during the week, it's a madhouse on Saturday, and Sundays can pull in crowds as well. -
Worst Ride Name

Batman & Robin the Chiller actually made sense. It was two coasters, and it was to go with the Batman & Robin movie that came out in 1997. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Honestly, take the pretzel loop out, and flyers are rather boring. Wing Riders are more thrilling, and you don't spend 5 minutes face down in the brake run, trying to keep the pretzel you just ate from coming back up. -

I couldn't agree more, I honestly don't even find Afterburn all that great, I'm sure this ride will be great and all, but in general, they still have a rather tepid lineup. -

I think it's because some of the outer seats can be a little more rough and shaky (relative term for a B&M) as opposed to the 4 across. I think the main reason Leviathan and Fury 325 have 4-across seating is to set them apart from the Hyper coasters at the same park (Behemoth and Intimidator). If the Gigas had the V-trains, the rides would be way to similar to their Hyper counterpart! Even the GP would notice! I've only ridden one hyper with the new seating [ Intimidator] and it didn't ride any different, but personally I don't like the way they look, so I'm glad the giga has the four across. -

I'm curious, why do B&M gigas have the four across seating, and the newer hypers don't?? -
It is really hit-or-miss with Six Flags parks, but that being said - I personally feel that SFoG is a far superior Six Flags park to SFNE. Sure - they don't have an Intamin hypercoaster, but they have everything else. Maybe it is something about being in the South? The people are more often polite and just seem nicer to me. SFOG has slow slow operations on some rides [ Scorcher, SUF] but even with slow operations, the actual workers have never been anything but 100% nice as can be whenever I go.. Of the 5 six flag parks I've been to [ KK, STL, Great America, Magic Mountain, SFOG] Georgia wins hands down, I think being polite is just ingrained in southern people for the most part.

I have a question about the flash pass system, I know gold cuts your time 50% and Platinum 90%, but how do they get the times down?? For example, If you have a gold and it shows the ride being ready in 15 minutes, then that means the line is 30 minutes, but how do they determine that the line is 30 mins??

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
beenagins87 replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Suprise: X Flight- I think wing riders in general get a bad rep, I liked Wild Eagle enough, but consdering that everyone seems to think it's the best of the 3 US. Wingriders, I was floored by how intense and memorable all my rides on X Flight were. Dissapoiment: Thunderhead- I liked Thunderhead, but consdering it's a top 5 wooden coaster I was expecting a lot more exciment, the station fly through is probally the coolest part. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

It sort of reminds me of Ninja at SFOG.. The only reason I'm glad they haven't torn it down, is at night it looks absolutely stunning sitting over the water. -

As many bad things as I've heard about it, I do admit, I want to ride Mean Streak, just because it really does look like a beautiful wooden wonderland. -
I rode it once last year during West Coast Bash and I couldn't believe how much they let this ride go. It's probably the roughest GCI next to Wildcat and Gwazi, and that's just insane for it only being built in 2009. The way it's going now it's headed to be "Son of Psyclone" in a matter of a few years. Wow!! I figured it might be a tad rough, I had no idea it was this bad, it looks like an amazing ride.

They do tend to rehab rides more in the offseason. It shouldn't result in anything being closed since rehab just means they go down to one train operation. A possible exception might be Ninja since it only currently has one operable train. I dont know if its the same every year but I believe it was Scream and Apocalypse during that time this year. I remember YOLO got rehabbed in April when I was there. Last year there pretty much wasnt a rainy season..its been a drought in California. I wouldn't worry too much about the rain, it doesnt rain a lot and when it does its still not usually cold at least during the day, and SFMM doesnt have a real restrictive rain policy like some parks. X2 and Superman close pretty fast, and I'm guessing YOLO might but havent seen enough rain since it opened to really know. Unless you want to take advantage of double rides, I wouldnt recommend the platinum pass. You can easily do YOLO first thing in the morning and get that out of the way. Realistically the wait times aren't any shorter than the gold pass. Also last time I was there X2 reservations only required Gold, not platinum. If you aren't going on a Saturday you may not need a flash pass at all. I always tell people just budget the money for it and then when you get there decide whether you will need one based on the crowds you see in the morning and then buy it if you do. I actually liked the original X more than X2. The audio and fire don't really do anything for me and I found the original seats much more comfortable. Always still worth riding to me at least once for the first drop if for nothing else. Thanks for all the advice .. I have a question about Apocalypse, is it rough for a CGI? The only ones I've been on are American Thunder & Thunderhead, both of which I loved.
