A few years ago, I would have scoffed and given an argument as to why Nitro is the best, but now I have to agree. Batman, for being 22 years old, blows all the other B&Ms in the park away. It has been running so smoothly the past couple of years that it seems almost new. In the past on my visits, I wouldn't mind if I skipped Batman, but now it's always a must. I can't wait for it to run backwards.

New red B&M track at Clermont in Ohio...

I'd have to think that green track is for SeaWorld, unless some other park is throwing us a curveball soon. -
Best Pirate Ship Ride?
Genx24 replied to canadianparkfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wouldn't say it's my favourite, per se, but I rode the one at Great Adventure last season for the first time in years and had a great ride. I used to love the mobile ones built on top of a flat bed truck. When I was a kid we used to have block parties, and when the Pirate Ship truck came, I would lose my mind haha. -

^^ Yep, because dressing up like Moses is the easiest way to get people to take you seriously. These people really have nothing else to do besides stand in front of SeaWorld and protest in the name of some propaganda film? -

I don't think there are very many coasters 200ft tall that were under $20 million That may be so but it's still too early to assume that the addition of this coaster means the park can't also add the blue world exhibit. -

Nothing besides the fact that they're building a coaster has been announced, where are people getting $20-25 million from? I'm sure SeaWorld has more than enough money for both a new coaster and the new animals enclosures. -
It's a "coaster" bexause Six Flags is marketing them as such.

Fair enough. The two rides mentioned have top hats, so I zeroed in solely on the other Intamin launches with top hats. My mistake. But, IMO, Seaworld would also be making a mistake if they went with a ride like California Screamin'. -

Because it's being billed as the longest coaster in Orlando, and most Intamin launched coasters are not very long. The longest coaster currently in Orlando (according to RCDB) is Expedition Everest, at roughly 4,400 feet. To top that, it'd most likely have to be some sort of out and back model. Of course, that could indeed include a launch over a top hat like the rides you mentioned, but personally I don't see Seaworld going in that direction. -

Even so, I doubt it will be a wing rider. Besides, that's the broad definition of hyper. I meant hyper in the narrow sense of the word; a 200 foot out and back coaster with no inversions. -

^ The fact that they specifically stated that it's going to be 200 feet tall also leads me towards hyper. But of course this is all speculation right now so we'll see. -

Doubt it. Buzzwords like "tallest, fastest, and longest" don't read as a wing rider to me. It's most likely a hyper. -
Unfortunately, I'm now going to be sitting CAD out this year. It's going to be close to freezing down in Jackson tomorrow night, and I'd rather stay home and watch the Rangers instead of risking having my face rip off on Nitro. I was on the fence about going anyway (because the Rangers are really the only thing that matters to me right now) but temps in the 30s made my mind up for me. Hope everyone else has a blast, it's probably going to be a ghost town tomorrow night.

You know you're a Six Flags park if...

Ah, in your haste to defend Six Flags, you misread the title of the thread. Happens to the best of us. -
Wish I saw it. Besides Habs-Sens, these playoffs have been fantastic thus far. And the first round isn't even over! I need my boys to come up big tonight. Coming back to MSG Friday night up 3-1 and a chance to close out the pens would be greatly preferable to a 2-2 deadlock.

What is your favorite Roller Coaster?
Genx24 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have El Toro and Boulder Dash as my 1 and 1A, respectively. -
Yea, Skull Mountain is definitely not a dark ride. Back on topic, since the article came out that CF is flirting with the idea of putting these rides in each park, I've been trying to think of a theme for a potential one at Dorney. I know CF said they'd like to theme them individually based off the park and surrounding location, but am drawing a blank on what that could be for Dorney as I'm not from the area. Maybe something mining related?

It actually still gets like that on Fright Fest Saturdays. It rarely got that long in it's opening year but it could during Fright Fest or on Saturdays in the summer. Ah, I see. I avoid the park on Saturdays, especially during Fright Fest. I can't imagine what the rest of the park looks like on days like that if Bizarro is actually getting a line.

I've never seen a wait that long for the ride, even when it was Medusa, but I don't understand why more people don't ride it. Are people really so lazy that they refuse to walk past the fort? It's one of the best coasters in the park, and even on peak days it's usually a walk-on or station wait. It's the only ride where I'm happy to see the line going through the switchbacks.
