  1. My homepark is SFGAdv. It doesn't even crack my top 5 in parks.
  2. Former NY Giant great and Monday Night Football broadcaster Frank Gifford. http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/09/us/frank-gifford-dies/index.html
  3. Subways and Burger Kings have discount Dorney coupons. At least the ones where I live. But even with that processing fee, the ticket on-line is still cheaper than the price at the gate.
  4. Coming next season: Dorney's closure due to lack of ability to compete with other regional parks. What are you talking about? The waterpark is always slammed. They will keep the waterpark open and close the dry side That gust of wind you hear is the joke flying over your head.
  5. Bizarro @ SFNE on Monday. Was getting violent pops of ejector air in the back row.
  6. So as previously mentioned, I was at the park yesterday to finally tackle Wicked Cyclone. The ride exceeded all expectations. Got four rides in, scattered throughout the train, including once in the front and once in the back. I was amazed at how fluid the train is throughout the course. Not one jerk or shuffle at all, which is to be expected from a new ride, but it's still a wonderful feeling. The elements are crazy, but not overwhelming, which makes it very re-rideable. The stall was unlike anything I'd ever experienced, and it was great in the back. Seeing the front of the train exiting the stall while the back is entering contorts the train in a way that just shouldn't be possible. The airtime humps, especially the one nearest the camera are excellent. The ejector air is noticeable, and the twists of the hills are so disorienting. The only minor quibble is that it seems to lose some steam into the last barrel roll and onto the brake run. However, this slow down provides great hangtime through the roll, which is always a welcome treat. Finally getting an RMC under my belt just makes me want to get out there and conquer the rest of them. I now know what the company can offer, which is plenty of fun, disorienting, cutting-edge ride experiences.
  7. ^Funnily enough I did see you today. I noticed the Blue Barracuda t-shirt in the station for Batman. I was going to say something because I loved that show. Shame I didn't see this earlier; I surely would have said hello.
  8. Also at the park now. Wicked Cyclone is glorious. Full thoughts later but after four rides, it's firmly in my top 10. Just not sure where exactly yet.
  9. I loved Key West when I visited. Did you visit the Ernest Hemingway house?
  10. Damn. I guess it's doubtful BD will be back up by Monday. Wanted to get night rides on Boulder Dash after visiting SFNE but this throws a wrench in that plan. Oh well.
  11. SFNE on August 3rd. Unless I decide to pay a visit to GAdv sometime this week.
  12. The Dragon at Rye Playland. Awful ride.
  13. They probably realized that they would have zero chance of finding the phone and told you something that sounded official. Sucks that you lost your phone, and sure they could have made an attempt, but trying to find a phone in those woods after dark would have been fruitless.
  14. We rode the Old Mill, and yes it certainly wasn't in the best of shape. However, nothing else there really appealed to me. I don't like spinning, nor do I like haunted houses. That lopped off about half the rides there. I am kicking myself for skipping the bumper cars though. I saw the sign and wanted to ride them, but after we (unfortunately) chose to ride the Dragon again, we just high tailed it out of the place.
  15. Visited the park last night to take advantage of its $15 twilight admission. I had high hopes for the place because I enjoyed it so much as a kid, but upon entering they were all dashed. I hadn't been to the park in 10 years, and the only noticable change was the POP admission instead of pay as you go, which was nice. The park just had a depressing aura surrounding it. That, coupled with a poor ride selection and rude employees led to a bummer of a time. I remembered loving the Dragon as a kid, but it was an awful ride yesterday. No speed, no air, no laterals, and a lot of shuffling and jack hammering = trash. The wild mouse looks like it's ready to topple over, but it's the best coaster in the park. Their volare is a flying death machine. I knew I was in for a bad time when I could feel pressure on my shoulders before the train left the station. On the plus side, their S&S tower, log flume, and derby racer are all great. My first time ever on a derby racer because my parents wouldn't let me ride it as a kid; now I know why. Didn't bother with any of the other flats besides the Whip, which felt like what I imagine a car accident would feel like. All told, my friend and I drove over an hour up to Rye just to spend two hours, but for only $15 to get in, we certainly got our monies worth. That being said, I can't see myself returning. I want to wish their new owners/management luck, because they have a lot of work to do
  16. Great Adventure is definitely haunted. My post on the previous page mentions just a few occurances that I've heard throughout the years.
  17. ^ I had the exact opposite sensation on Namtab. When it's normal, I can ride it a couple of times per trip and feel just a little dazed after each ride. When I rode it backwards on Tuesday, it was the closest I ever came to getting sick while the ride was still in its cycle. Much more nausea-inducing for me.
  18. ^ If the park is as busy today as we've all been telling the guy it will be, he'd be better served "hustling" across the park rather then waiting 20 minutes for the skyway. Unless it's a walk-on, the skyway is just a waste of time.
  19. The park is has been dead during the week this season. Definitely budget for one, but a flash pass might not be necessary. As for hitting the park, I would do Ka/Zum right at opening, then down to the Boardwalk for S:UF and GL. Then head over to the left side for El Toro, Bizarro, RMT, then take the skyride over. From there, do Skull Mtn., Nitro, Namtab, and TDK. Wash, rinse, repeat. Unless you want to do the Safari. If you do, go to Safari upon opening
  20. Boldikus wasn't kidding, though. Flash pass is really the only way to tackle everything the park has, especially on a Saturday. Great Adventure, like most parks, gets the biggest crowds on Saturdays, and tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful down in Jackson. If you really can't swing one, prepare for a very long day of waiting.
  21. Wasn't what I was expecting, but I'm glad the park is adding a new steel coaster. It will be nice to get a chance to finally ride one of these close to home.
  22. ^ Don't know if it's true, but FWIW, El Diablo was closed when I was at the park Tuesday.
  23. I was there yesterday and the place was a ghost town. I'd wager it'd be the same next Tuesday as well.
  24. Rode Namtab twice today. It's really intense, and it's the first time I've been on a ride where I thought I might actually throw up. Besides that, it's a lot of fun, but I much prefer B:TR in it's normal state.
  25. Headed down today for the passholder ERT on Namtab. I haven't been this excited for a visit to GAdv in a while. Hope the ride lives up to my (admittedly too high) expectations.
