  1. I was there this past Thursday and Friday and Mach Tower was operating both days.
  2. I agree with Chris. I rode the tower last week and it's a very dull experience. It's more like the Kissing Tower with a couple of bounces than an actual drop tower.
  3. No chance that's legitimate, but it's fun to entertain the idea.
  4. ^ Oh, the possibilities... I actually like Goliath. Granted I only rode it once in the front row, but it was a terrifyingly intense ride. But I wouldn't shed a tear if it left, especially for a Raptor.
  5. Two things worth mentioning about Thunderbolt. (this may shock you all, but Justin & I went to this trip together) 1. The ride has gotten much smoother. When it first opened it was downright violent; Now it's butter smooth with nice pops of air. 2. These pictures don't do the lights package justice. Thunderbolt was lit like a Christmas tree the other night. In fact the entire place was a neon dream. Also, their new drop tower leaves a lot to be desired. It's very mild and serves more as an observation tower. If it wasn't such an overcast, foggy night, the views of Manhattan's skyline would have been incredible. Anyway, stay tuned. The two of us are headed to BGW and KD this weekend, so Justin should have a couple of great updates shortly thereafter.
  6. These are fantastic pictures. I love retro looks at parks, especially Disney.
  7. I'm not sure if you're only interested in Mom & Pop restaurants, but if you don't mind chains you definitely should hit up Primanti's. There's one approximately 10 minutes away from the park, in a shopping center called The Waterfront. Primanti's is a Pittsburgh institution, so definitely give it a try.
  8. The wristband is only available on weekdays.
  9. As was mentioned, I accompanied Justin to Knoebels last week. This trip was easily the best I had at a park in years. Knoebels is really special, and anyone here who hasn't yet visited. needs to rectify that post haste.
  10. Knoebels. The way they crank out trains on Phoenix and Twister with only one train running is a marvel that has to be seen to be believed.
  11. Knoebels is a special place, I'm glad you had a great time. I can't wait to get back there myself on Friday.
  12. Great reports thus far. Don't know how I missed this thread before today. I agree with you about SFNE; it's definitely underrated on this board, and easily one of the nicer parks in the chain.
  13. Just got back from a great night at the park. Didn't arrive til around 4:30 and was greeted by the lovely sight of the multitude of school and charter buses loading up and shipping out, which set the tone. Finally got to ride El Toro for the first time this year, and she was running at top form. Anyone who says it's gotten rough is out of their mind. Also, I was pleasantly surprised that two separate employees went out of their way to be helpful. One of the guards at the front gate opened up another metal detector for us when he saw we were stuck behind multiple families with bags and strollers. Another guard got on his walkie and asked if Kingda Ka was open after he saw me straining my eyes to determine same. I know I shouldn't be surprised by employees helping guests, but we all know how most Six Flags employees can be.
  14. That Marshall Tucker Band story still blows my mind. I can't imagine the park ever being that crowded.
  15. Intriguing news. The park's entrance plaza did feel a bit cramped when I last visited, so if nothing else at least they are working to improve that. But if they're expanding by that many acres, one would have to presume new attractions are in the pipeline.
  16. 0% chance I'll ever ride Cyborg, but I'm glad the park is rounding out its collection of flats with something that is the first of its kind.
  17. Because I keep hitting snags every time I try to plan a visit to Great Adventure, most likely Knoebels on June 15th.
  18. Nice report, Chuck. Finally heading down to Busch Gardens for the first time at the end of June. As if I weren't excited enough, I'll get to experience this festival. I can't wait.
  19. My guess would be that it will be scrapped. It experiences a lot of downtime and will be obsolete once Cyborg opens.
  20. Garfield's Nightmare is exactly that: a nightmare. With that ride plus Noah's Ark, Kennywood certainly doesn't lack in attractions that make you question your own sanity.
  21. Although I liked the holding brake, I prefer Possessed without it.
  22. Great work by all involved. It's exciting to again have a list that ranks the coasters objectively. Surprised to see I've been on 7 of the top 25 overall.
  23. I appreciated the history of The Matterhorn, and was happy to finally get on it when I visited Disneyland. Unfortunately, it beat the crap out of my back, thus ruining the experience. But still definitely try to get on it.
  24. Was at the park yesterday with JCoaster, and like he said, it seemed like the park just wasn't ready. I'll certainly give them the benefit of the doubt because it's early, but when the arcades are closed on a rainy day, it's obvious they don't have enough staff. Besides that, my only other quibble is that El Toro was unfortunately closed. Thankfully, this was only a quick trip to get the beak wet. Here's to a great 2018.
  25. Yesterday at Great Adventure, I overheard a girl telling the person she was with that during Fright Fest they "twist the tracks on Batman" in the opposite direction.
