  1. So you're saying the GP got something right?! I'm glad they are filling the spot of Rolling Thunder, but this does nothing to help the crowd balancing of the park. I'm still holding out for a "lake" coaster (assuming Jackson township loses the stick in their butt)
  2. ^I agree that a wing ride could be a draw to the park. Ever since Orient Express left, there hasn't been a real sit down looper replacement. I think a Eurofighter or Wing Rider could see high popularity.
  3. "“— yet, sadly, accidental rudeness occurs alarmingly often... Best to say nothing at all, my dear man. ” -Albus Dumbledore On that note, I loved the trip reports CFC! Keep em coming
  4. A Super Loop is as much a coaster as Jolly Roger is a coaster. A ride that has "cycles" rather than a set "circuit" in my book isn't a coaster. If this ride is indeed the 70ft tall version, the total length is going to be less than 250ft. I'm not arguing the merits of adding the ride (even though one scarred my childhood). I think Great Adventure really does need more rides in general to keep the crowds spread out.
  5. Absolutely counts. Monster runs in my veins.
  6. I'm really hoping everything "classic" about Colossus will stay in the history books. The two ride concept strikes me as outright confusing to a GP which just rode the "last ride on Colossus". Still really excited for what RMC does with this design.
  7. Manhattan Express at New York New York (seriously, this thing is un-savable) Predator at Darien Lake (been 10+ years since I've been there, so I'd give it another chance) Ninja at SFOG/SFSTL (burn them to the ground) Dragon at Adventureland (Unique, but painful)
  8. Ehhh what? Not sure if this was sarcasm. If not, I'll use Medusa at Great Adventure as my example on why this isn't always the case. "Medusa Mining Company" was plastered onto an abandoned mine shaft themed station. Greek mythology and old west... shoehorned in just to fit the "theme" of the area. Names don't always make sense with the theme at SF.
  9. ^I would LOVE a MaxAir in the old spot of FreeFall. (honestly any rides in that direction of OLD TOWN would be a WIN)
  10. Does we know if the Super Loop is going to be an exact copy of the traveling versions of the rides? Is this a "new and improved" version for a major theme park?
  11. Whew! I got the wacky worm credit on August 7th. I'm sad to say this news didn't really surprise me. Even last year, my group was genuinely uncomfortable walking past some of the shops after dark. Also, the train on windstorm had CHUNKS of the padding missing from the seats. I'm hoping this park re-invents itself with its future attractions.
  12. The few. The proud. The haters.
  13. With the work Knott's has done the past 2 years to bring it back, Can you elaborate on this? I'm genuinely curious to know what has been done.
  14. ^Waste of land? Really? Even at its worst, it's still intruducing a large portion of the general public to high quality wooden roller coasters. This is a win for me.
  15. As far as the park being "done"... I did see at least two public fundraiser events to try to raise money for the park before the sheriff's sale. One looked like a bowling/pizza night, and there were a few flea market slash yard sale type flyers as well. The locals themselves don't seem to be happy about the park closing, but if yesterday was a litmus test... I'd say the park is in trouble.
  16. In comparison, 40 minutes up the road Waldameer Park was in overflow parking today despite the rain in the forecast. It is clearly telling of where people are choosing to go for a traditional family park in the Northwest Pennsylvania Region. With an obvious lack of interest from the general public, it makes it very hard to justify the attempts and protests some people are making to save this place. Sadly, tradition and nostalgia are not enough to save this once gem of a small park. Oh I know! I only stayed at Conneaut for about an hour before heading up to Waldameer. The difference was startling! Packed parking lots. Crowds at ALL the rides. Even a 40min wait for Ravine Flyer II in light rain, which on a side note is BRILLIANT! Back to Conneaut though... I was hoping to get a ride on the Tumble Bug while I was there... closed. I snapped a couple pics after riding the major rides and left. It was really depressing for what I expected to be a busy Saturday at Conneaut.
  17. I was out at the park today... boy was it dead. Blue Streak 8/10 - Really surprising old woodie! It was a lot bigger than I expected it to be, and it had good airtime. Loved the NAD train they were using. It reminded me a lot of the train used on Big Dipper at Camden Park. Wasn't able to ride the Little Dipper . Ticket sales lady was pretty adamant about it. Whatever... you'd think for a park drowning in debt that they'd be willing to take my money.
  18. With what has been going on around Joker's Jinx recently, I can't imagine SF investing much in a PR nightmare. Now if Batman & Robin the Chiller were still around...
  19. Wood: Ravine Flyer 2 -- Really suprised me!! Outlaw Run El Toro Steel: Iron Rattler -- I can't believe only one other person mentioned this one! Fantastic! Skyrish Nitro Intimidator 305
  20. Yeah Roar hasn't aged well at all. I think it's one of the last* GCI coasters to NOT have Millennium Flyer trains... and it definitely shows. EDIT*-- Strike that. It's THE last one.
  21. Ha! That's because Goliath wasn't a letdown. It wasn't the trendy new thing like outlaw run of course, but it's an excellent ride and is getting a TON of positive feedback. My good feelings of Medusa Steel Coaster have come from some pretty SPECTACULAR video footage that has surfaced recently. It's really shown off it's fantastic layout. Full confidence here that SFNE gets a gem.
  22. Chance for relocation: 0%. Thanks for sharing the pics!
  23. Robb's FB posts were pretty depressing. I felt really bad that KT was denied to ride (BOTH times). As an older brother with 4 younger siblings, I can relate to their frustration. Quick point regarding Viper's operations from my visit last week. Atrocious. Dispatches once every 4-5mins. It was at that point during my visit that I gave up and bought a flash pass.
  24. ^Eric. I was there on the 22nd of July and Hoosier Hurricane was closed then too. I spoke to several park employees and the outlook isn't good. It seems they are having "braking issues" with what i'm guessing is the final brake run before the station. Everyone I spoke to said that the downtime could be a while.
