  1. KK will try to compete with volume: for the same expenditure, you could get (1) Lightning Run, a high quality, fun airtime machine ($7 million), (2) Gold Striker CGI woodie (probably in the $7-$8 million range) and (3) another medium wooden coaster or small steel coaster. Not sure which plan brings more repeat customers..... KK is pretty locked into their plan between 2015 SLC, 2016 Twins. Any additional rides like the ones you mentioned would be gravy... still vapor until anything is announced.
  2. Haha!! Fantastic post vacoaster09! I can't wait for Ed Hart's "answer" in the coming years.
  3. I was able to ride Goliath on Monday, and my advice to anyone near the park is to get there early. We showed up around 10am, lines packed beyond the metal detectors. Around 10:15 they let people into the park. When this happens... RUN (or briskly walk). They don't walk you to the ride in an organized group like they do at Great Adventure. We were able to line up and the ride started operating around 10:25. Total wait ~40mins. Get there early and you can enjoy this beast.
  4. This ride looks gorgeous. I can't wait to visit next season. I'm hoping all the nay-sayers realize that in addition to Holiday World's addition... this adds a new coaster to the B&M portfolio! I can't wait to see them integrate it across all their models (and they will).
  5. Hi five Martin! (coming from the only other person on coaster-count with the Sea Serpent credit)
  6. ^Primos aren't just in the Philly area. My favorite happens to be in my back yard (basically) in Hamilton on rt. 33. Directions
  7. Great trip report! I loved those shots of El Toro from Zumanjaro's queue. Does seem like they could put something in that open area, but I'm still hoping for a new ride to help fill out the waterfront area.
  8. Yeah, I've been using the arcade to cut through to el toro for years...
  9. When a single rider restriction is a manufacturer suggestion, I fully support it. When a park is incompetent enough to not enforce general safetey and they feel added restrictions are necessary, I have a problem with it. Restrictions not based on common sense only hurt the paying customer. I had a weird case last weekend at Jolly Roger Amusement park in Ocean City, MD. A no single rider sign was posted oustside Avalanche, a Schwarzkopf Wildcat. No biggie, I had a friend with me. Then as we are getting to the station, I saw they were letting people on the ride one per row... kind of defeating the purpose for the sign.
  10. They NEEED something that goes higher than superman. They need that sky screamer, they need a lot of flat rides, and then they need a really big coaster. Sometime along the way, they need a new water slide for the water park, but like in 2016-17-18 they need that star attraction that's going to have to compete with all of sfa competitor parks (bgw, kd, hp, sfga). What they DONT need anytime soon is a dark ride. Like what even. No. People aren't going to flock to an amusement park for a decent dark ride. You know six flags is not going to pour money into a dark ride like universal or Disney is. And if it isn't as good as universal, I'm not going to make that three hour car ride up to sfa to go on a mediocre dark ride. Thank you, I'm done now. Be careful, you'll upset the dark ride fans...
  11. I think it does vecause I was at the park on friday night and around 9pm got the last ride on KK as it shut down for techincal difficulties. Then when I got off and walked over to Zumanjaro it had just closed down. A few minutes Zumanjaro reopened and I got my first ride on that and KK had just reopened when I got off. Zumanjaro only closes Ka down when its roof doesn't close since Ka isn't allowed to run unless the roof is down. Zumanjaro can have a break down where Ka continues to run as long as the roof is closed. I've seen it happen before. Thanks for the clarification Ryan. Good to know that is the only thing Zumanjaro related that would close KK would be the roof. Sounds like all they have to do to keep both open is just to enclose the entire droptower. /facepalm
  12. There was a LOT of lightning in the area last night. I was within 10mi of the park last night so I can understand getting everyone out early.
  13. This was a 10 Million dollar coaster... which for only 2000ft is NOT cheap. Source - RCDB The ride seemed average in terms of smoothness. It reminded me a bit of Rip Ride Rocket in that aspect.
  14. I was there on 7/8, and I can reiterate! Great work has been done on Cyclone. Seriously.... SO. MUCH. PADDING. It was like sitting on a couch seat. Knee pads, lap-bar pads, cushioned seats and backs all were included. The ride was very well done until the last couple hills where you will greatly appreciate the padding. As far as thunderbolt goes, this ride kicks ass. Such an intense layout packed into a tight footprint. Very comfortable restraints although the nylon shoulder straps (barely) seemed out of place. The airtime hills were especially awesome. I didn't think it was as rough as the above two posters though.
  15. It wouldn't valley if they didn't trim the ride so heavily. Every single trim nearly stopped the car. I haven't seen this on any other spinning mouse.
  16. Could have just been the train I rode, but they seemed to have a new yellow sealant/lacquer.
  17. Nitro's clamshell restraints have all been refreshed. I don't understand the comments on the "disrepair" of the station. The rusted "NITRO" sign always seemed more like a feature rather than a drawback.
  18. Highest I could find was Shambhala. 25 Million Euros or roughly 34 Million USD.
  19. Screamscape is reporting that shooting is on site at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Trailer Link [ew.com]
  20. Yes on both counts. I was there in June and they would not let us ride the crazy mouse unless 3 people were riding. The ride op asked a small child (could not have been older than 7) if he wanted to ride with my friend and I (without needing tickets). On Silver Comet, they are extremely rude about the lap bar policy. I ended up only riding once because I didn't want to deal with the ride op running the ride.
  21. I still think they'll find a way to add a big drop in the layout. Even if it means a 300ft drop finale (into a brake run), they could get it into the layout. I don't see anywhere that specifically states the layout will be entirely contained within the circumference of the tower footprint.
  22. Thunderbolt at Coney Island on Tuesday. That thing is an AIRTIME MACHINE!
  23. I always found the area between thunderhawk and Steel Force to be quite shaded.
  24. Thanks for the reply, Erik. I've only ever ridden one other Pinfari Looper (Python) and I've seen posted a few places that the old Beach Bend looper was one to watch out for.
